The expanse of the northern pole region lay out before the obsidian palace of the Chaplain-Court. Jannat al'-Adn, as it is known, is nothing like the eden spread across the surface of New Ravion. It's surface, riddled with the signs of volcanic activity, appears flash-frozen as if stopped at the moment of activity. Icy arcs exist in the place of magma surges; dense gases from geysers are ceased in mid air. This cold environment of dying, made in the image of the Emperor, will kill anyone attempting to travel through it's frozen mazes.
Firaeon rested against the barricades in the wake of an open roof. He stared inquisitively at the surrounding lands, before turning to Cere, the Judge Magister of Earth;
Cere said to Firaeon: "This new world, this Messiana, what is it like? Are there cities and forests of pardon, as we are told, or is it shifted to a darker period. Am I welcome there, or will I appear as but an illusion and fall with time. Do they follow our faith, or is their judgement yet to come, brother."
So Firaeon thought about this, and said: "It is surely shifted to chaos, as their gates never opened for many. You will be praised and worshiped there as it's legacy commands. Their Korbanot burns their skin, they will never know their Third Temple, as they say they will. It is lost forever and they will never know it again. If we stay faithless, we will fall and it will exterminate us, and we must yet descend into the Divine Comedy for Heofon."
WARNING: This may not make much sense, but there are loads of references to religion here (It's not finished either).
The Undying.
Milky Way Intergalactic (wtf?) Federation
and what about NGU?
NGU stands for Northern Galactic Union.
I'm mainly wondering what their alignments are. is one neutral? are they against every one? (as in a four-way fight between the alliances and the Saiv)
MWIF: It stands for "Milky Way Intergalactic Federation". It isn't a society so much as a plan. When the NGU hired Cryxis to defeat the EmberFive, he was promised all territory that the Saiv owned, including the ex-UGA territory, Ildiran territory, Kyogre and UGS territory, and any unclaimed territory. Since the Ildiran reclaimed all their territory, we shall not colonize it. His plan is to establish this Federation as a sort of "replacement" for the UGA. It will have basically the same laws and the same government. It is also the first step towards defeating the Saiv: by taking 1/3rd of the entire universe, The MWIF is (or will believed to be) secure. The MWIF will span this 1/3 of the galaxy, and to be fair to it's allies, the MWIF will enact a law inacted that applies to the colonization of all galaxies, called "The Intergalactic Colonization Act", stating:
1.) The Milky Way is the home Galaxy of the MWIF. This does not mean that all nations of the Milky Way are of the MWIF.
2.) The MWIF will colonize one spral arm of every inhabited galaxy, or half of the entire galaxy, if no sentient or possible sentient life is present. If a galaxy is taken by either an ally or neutral nation, we place an embassy on each of their core words, as well as place military bases and colonies, if said nation allows it.
3.) If a non-enemy of the MWIF has colonization efforts within a galaxy, or has claimed territory but has yet to colonize said territory will be considered uncolonizable unless diplomacy is made that says otherwize.
4.) A plan must be made prior to colonization of a Galaxy. Proper procedures and sufficient information is required to colonize a Galaxy.
5.) All Enemy Galaxies shall be assulted strategically. If we do not have the resources to do so, or more pressing matters are present, the assult will be posponed.
6.) ALL NEUTRAL SENTIENT LIFE ARE NOT - WE REPEAT - NOT TO BE HARMED. IF ANY FORM OF LIFE, SENTIENT OR OTHERWIZE, IS THREATENED BY FORCE, IT WILL BE AGAINST INTERNATIONAL LAW AND BREAKERS OF SUCH LAW SHALL BE COURT MARSHALLED
7.) All colonizers (or "Frontiersmen") are to abide by these rules when colonizing a planet, system, or galaxy. Breakers of the Intergalactic Colonization Act shall be arrested. The penalty for such act is 45 to life, even death.
This act can be amended and shall ensure the colonization of galaxies shall not result in full-fleged war with neutral or ally nations. This is currently not a nation, however, once the Ares is recovered, the colonization of the southern portion of the Galaxy will begin. After the Saiv are driven out, the MWIF and the IA shall make plans to assult true Saiv territory.
IA: It means "Intergalactic Allience". It will be a United Nations between the MWIF, Ildiran Empire, Ashi Sultanate, and NGU. Neutral nations can join, and the IA's goal is to ensure Universal peace, civility, and equality among species, both "Superior" and "Inferior".
And I don't think I need to elaborate on the NGU: basically the rest of the Milky Way nations (except Darkninja and Shanna Rhei)...
*At 1500 hours, All ships were prepped. The Floatilla, led by the Dengora pulsed full speed in a straight line. It would be three days untill they were at striking distance of Techoyan. The cloaking field could have been longer if it wern't for the fact that the majority of the Athena & Darksabers were protecting the main fleet. After three days, the Floatilla finally emerged from the field. after all the ships formed up, they all started their jump drives.*
Cryxis: "In the face of impossible odds, we tremble before the might of our enemy. However, through strength and determination, we shall prevail. Some say the only thing we have is hope. Hope is not going to get you anywhere. It is determination, and courage that shall see the light of day. I never say that 'I hope'. Insted I always say 'I can!'. For if I say I hope, that means I still have doubt, I still have fear, I'm not sure I will. But today, we don't hope, today, we will! We will save the prisoners, we will retake the Ares and we will win the war! For we are species united! And through unionship, cooperation, and determination, we can beat any odds! So do not rely on hope, but rely on your will to fight! to survive! to see the light of another day!"
All: "OORAHH!!"
Cryxis: "Activate jump drives! Today, We take the war them!!!"
*Every ship jumps towards Techoyan.
The Minute they arrive, all their light carriers launch their bombers and fighters towards the three generator stations. The guard are suprised by the blitz and try to retaliate, but it is too late. a few ships are hit with scores of bombs and flachette fire. However, not one is decommisioned.*
Cryxis: "Full shields! All Frigates and cruisers converge on the Shield station bearing 540, 320, 75*PR! All heavy Destroyers attack their Battleships! Rob!"
Rob: "Yes sir!?"
Cryxis: "Is the RavenHawk ready?"
Rob: "Yes, sir. Feuled & armed to your specs."
Cryxis: "Get the mass driver ready. Yin, I want you in a Marine lander. You and Hyroshi will take the Ares."
Yin: "Got it!"
Hyroshi: "You can count on us, Cryx!"
*The three of them head towards the main hangar. One of the Shield stations are destroyed, along with the military research station and two defense stations, with another swarmed by bombers and frigates. With the entire planet alerted to their presence, one of the Dreadnoughts docked in the Shipyard is launched, and moves to engage the Dengora. Just then, a lone strike craft is launched from the Hangar of the UGA ship. Followed by five other multirole fighters, they head towards the looming dreadnought at break-neck speed.*
Saiv Admiral: "What is this!? A lone squadron taking out a dreadnought? All autodefenses, fire!!"
*The autodefenses are put online and fire at the strike group. Strangely, however, each flachete round, even flak, is dodged. Cryxis' face shows on the display.*
Cryxis: "You will find that I am also a skilled pilot. I train my wingmen well..."
Saiv Adm: "I can see that, but you're skills cannot outmatch the reflexes of one of our pilots"
Cryxis: "But we can definitely match it!"
*Two squadrons of fighters engage the lone Ace squadron. Several flachette scores hit one of Cryxis' wingmen.*
Wingman: "Sir! My stabilizers are hit! G-diffuser systems failing! AAAHH-"
*His fighter strikes one of the autodefenses, rendering it useless. There are now only five fighters. The others quickly dodge the flachette and engage the Saiv fighters. The squadrons engage in a ballet of plasma streams, flack bursts, and ASC missiles. Cryxis manages killing four, and his wingmen a total of three more. One wingman is hit on the left stabilizer and spirals into a Saiv Fighter. Four more left, and three Saiv, plus a Dreadnought, fighters to go. The Dengora engages with it's foreward mounted Particle cannon, scoring a direct hit on the Dreadnought, only to cinge the hull.*
Saiv Adm: "HA! Your weapons are useless. I suggest you turn and flee before reinforcements arrive. YOur small strike floatilla will be reduced to floating debris-"
* The second Shield station is destroyed, with the floatilla encountering fire from the defense fleet of Techoyan. A second particle beam scores a critical hit right next to the bridge. This leaves an opening for Cryxis before the shields come back up*
Cryxis: "Peterson, Take care of the remaining fighters. I'm going to take care of the Admiral..."
Peterson: "Don't take too long!!"
Saiv Adm: "Tell Saelos: NOW it's a problem..."
Saiv Bridge Prs: "Yes, sir. Hail."
Saiv Adm: "Hail..."
*Cryxis launches a HEAST into the hole, blowing up the bridge in the process. The ship lists heavily to port, away from the Dengora...*
Cryxis: "Give the signal to the rest of the fleet, TAKE TECHOYAN!!"
Rob: "Signal sent!"
*Right after the signal is sent, a massive Saiv fleet has jumped into Techoyan's gravity well. It will be an hour untill Reinforcements arrive. Meanwhile...*
Caedus: "That's the signal! Orodum, Have all your forces jump now!"
Orodum: "Got it. All ships, engage jump drives!!"
Caedus: "It's good to have you on our side, Orodum..."
Orodum: "I won't abandon a friend in need..."
*Every Intergalactic allience Ship Jumps towards Techoyan in one of the most epic battles in since the Battle of Tibalt*
P.S.:
MWIF: Me
NGU: Neutral
IE: Ally
AS: Ally
SE: Hostile
OC: part of SE - Hostile
Aradian: ?
Well by that law, that means you got a lot of embasies, and military bases to put in the Orion Galaxy all owned by me. I don't think you will be able to have any colonies because in my last reports from there, says there are no more possible colonizable planets, unless you want a few gas giants.
Aradian religious doctrine holds that only they may have such power by holy right. If we had a civilisation that large, it may indeed anger the Ucori and/or the Aradians.
The Aradians are neutral in this conflict because they don't even know the Milky Way exists. They have no hostilities towards us, but nor do they have any amiabilities, so they may attack us either on their own initiative or by the word of the Ucori communion. It's our choice to let them know we're here, but that involves a lot of risks.
A note on the Saiv claws. They're definitely not Wolverine-style, as some of you may be thinking. Instead they look a lot like this:
There are some crucial differences here. The first is that they are capable of healing, so they won't have any lines or disturbances on the surface. The colour is also different: it graduates from black near the base to moderate grey near the tip. The arc is less concave and the claws are somewhat elongated, whereby facing forwards not upwards. Male claws are equal in size to the carpal bone it projects from in a human hand, but female claws are longer: up to the length of the metacarpal bone in the finger ahead of it. There are only 4 claws, and these project from the frontal carpal bones except for the carpal bone of the thumb.
It looks like a larger version of a cats claw as in the pet that some people have
The Saiv race can be associated with felines in that they are athletic and have natural external defenses, although their race is by no means evolutionarily related to the feline. To make it clear, they don't look or act like cats.
Noobsauce, the Saiv Empire in the main three galaxies has disintegrated... but let's keep this enjoyable and say that the Saiv Empire is still intact and that the Consortium is just a breakaway faction.
I won't be typing for awhile. My computer is not working well, so I am using a crappy computer. also, I just erased a crapload of stuff, so...I'm a bit dissapointed...
...'sniff'...
It was epic, and now it is gone...please do not advance the timeline just yet...
-sad noob
I really feel sorry for you on that one. I may not be running a terrible computer, but I know what it's like to accidentally erase an hours work.
On a lighter note, I've begun work on the map for the Vurta Sevyn galaxy - the main Saiv galaxy containing New Ravion. I've created a beachhead region for the WMIF in the north-east of the galaxy. I've also finished designing the Saiv written language;
I've devised an alphabetical system which is mostly similar to ours, albeit with some directly translated letter combinations and words. Note the word for 'Emperor', as in the Saiv Emperor, which is distinct from the other symbols because it is so ancient. Only a few Saiv know the true symbol for the Saiv Emperor, and only a handful of them can write it fluently, so most Saiv simply use the 'hero' symbol. As an example of name substitution, Othniel's name would be the two words for 'Judge' and 'hero' respectively, while the nations of the Milky Way would be substituted for the words for 'heretic' and 'nation'. The numerical system is properly ordered, but as the number '8' holds special significance for the Saiv they don't use the number '9'. The number '0' is also not used.
Also, please excuse my handwriting. It may be difficult to read.
I also want to post Firaeon's full name, Firaeon Vatikan Inwazja Enero Eclips Vinte-dez, as translating it from the associated languages will make it more interesting.
Finally, I've noticed that the name of the Judge Magister of Water, Jael, is an unintended reference to the Bible figure of the same name. Jael is in no way asociated to this Bible figure, namely because Jael is male in this fiction and the Bible figure is female.
Alright, let's try this again:
...
I have an argument relating to the Aradians. A future quote from Cryxis after he is told about the Ark and three god races by Mr. Q pretty much sums it up (Note Mr. Q tells Cryxis thet the only possible option is to ally with the Aradians):
"Humanity will never ally with the Aradians!! You tell me to ally with a civilization that already wants us dead, even before they knew of our existence, and expect me to comply!? If what you say is true, then if we ally with these creatures, we will eventually be killed by them or worse. Even if they don't kill us immediately, they will reduce us all to beggars on their streets, inbred lowlifes in the eyes of their people, and I won't allow that to happen! Unless they ensure equality, civility, and coexistence between all of us and themselves, we will never ally with them! They now pose a greater threat to the IA than the Saiv themselves! This war is not about politics, Mr. Q, nor is it of religion, or belief, or race, or territory! This is a fight for survival itself. Humanity, Ildiran, Ashi, Tau'ri, Hydrogue, Nem'uta, Dingoorian, all of them, will die unless we fight. We've managed to push the Saiv to their own territory, what makes you think we can't handle the Aradians!? The Aradians have no right to claim the universe to themselves, nor do they have any right, ANY RIGHT, god-given or otherwise, to decide who lives and who dies! It is up to the people themselves!! And I am prepared to give life & limb to preserve that truth..."
*Above Techoyan, the battle between the IA floatilla and the Saiv reinforcements rages on. Cdr. Robert Newmen holds the Dengora in the front of the floatilla, firing it's particle cannon every few minutes, keeps the enemy frigates, cruisers, destroyers, and beyond at bay. With the IA caught between Saiv ships and the atmosphere of Techoyan, and with still twenty minutes untill Caedus comes in with Orodum and the entire IA fleet, Cryxis is running out of options...*
Cryxis: "This isn't good. Our ships are bogged down, and we're running out of time-"
*Cryxis zooms by an IA Ashi frigate in his ship. The Sultanate ship, severely damaged, hurtles into the atmosphere of the semi-arid planet below.*
Cryxis: "-and men. Rob! This is Cryxis. How many lander frigates do we have left?"
Rob: "Sir! we have lost a total of 24 light carriers, compared to the 38 we brought. I'd say we have about 10-
* A light carrier is hit by a HESSM in it's hangar, it explodes, it's pieces turning into fireballs as they enter Techoyan's atmosphere*
Rob: "-...make that 8 battalions. A total of 16 landers. Yeshohan, change your course to 53*!"
Cryxis: "Launch every lander we have to the surface except Hyroshi's. Have his regiment head towards the Ares and hold out untill reinforcements arrive!"
Rob: "The order has been sent, sir!...Shit! More reinforcements! Tighten up the formation"
*The landers start deplouing under the cover of the larger ships. One lander heads towards the massive shipyard halfway around the world, that the Ares is being housed in.*
Cryxis: "Good. Once General Caedus has arrived, have him meet me on the surface, tell Admiral Orodum to go support Yin & Hyroshi on the Ares, and to bring reinforcements. Once that's done I wan-*static*-AAARRGGHH!!!-*static*"
Rod: "Cryxis? Cryxis!!"
*The Ravenhawk is hit by an ASC missile on it's left stabilizer, knocking it onto a colission course with the planet*
Cryxis: "Shit! Computer, eject emergency pod!!"
*The Pilot section of the Ravenhawk is blown away to reveal a pill-shaped pod, which is jettisoned away from the flaming craft, which burns up in the atmosphere. At mach-4, the pod releases a chute, whic after the pod has slowed down, is disengaged and deploys two chutes. The cardinals on the front of the pod and the small folding wings on the back guide the pod towards a large, gleaming-white city with a spire protruding from the center. The two chutes are blown away, and the pod deploys four small chutes. The pod lands 15 kilometers away from the wall of the city with a loud thud. The specialized seat restraints were designed to keep the pilot safe in case of hard landings, to prevent whiplash.
Meanwhile, in the space above, Rob thinks up of a plan to reduce the Saiv fleet's numbers...*
Rob: "How many Antimatter warheads do we have?
Bridge persnl: "Four, sir."
Rob: "Save two of them. Arm one and aim it at that large carrier over there!"
*A missile is shot out of the port missile launcher. It manages to make it through flachette fire and into the large hangar of the ship. The warhead erupts in a violent event many times greater than that of a conventional warhead, riping the carrier apart, and destroying two frigates and a destroyer by debris from the carrier itself. Another warhead is launched towards a tightly grouped floatilla of Saiv Cruisers. Unfortunately flachette fire from a nearby battleship destroyed the bomb, destroying only a few of their cruisers - and destroying a good number of IA forces.
Meanwhile, back on the surface, the canopy of the pod that used to be that of the Ravenhawk, pops off, revealing a blue-illuminated interior, as well as Cryxis. The blue haze reflected off of the dusty sand of the shrubland around this city. As he emerged, bladerunner in hand, he took a good look at the capital of Techoyan, Matriarch. A gleaming silver-white city covered with spire-like towers, and a large tower leading up to the spaceport above in low-planetary orbit. Behind him was a green-covered hill with slimmer silver-grey spires, and domes that looked as if they were carved from the rock of the hill, itself. Probably a comm array, Cryxis thought to himself. He moved his attention to the sky above, where he could see the battle in the space above. massive explosions, lights of Ion cannon fire and plasma streams from strike crafts and missile swarms. Debris from blown-up cruisers and carriers filled the sky with light as they burned up in the atmosphere, just as his own ship had. The weapons that both sides were using were so powerful, the explosions resulting from them rumbled the ground beneath his feet and roared the air around him. It was a beautiful sight. A few hundered meters to the north, Landers were touching down, opening their main ramps and deploying their legs. Out from each lander came rows of marines, behind them tanks, artillery, and a few even had Mobile Guass cannons and Mobile Tactical Missile Launchers, or MTMLs. The landers had small openings on the top of them where artillery guns would emerge. The artillery was used to bombard the city with shells of heavy ordinance. The guass cannons were to scan the sky for any enemy landers and shoot them down with scaled-down versions of guass cannons. The MTMLs were there to do the job of both the Artillery and the Guass cannons. Their HYEM missiles were good for both blowing a hole in the ground and blowing a hole in a lander.
Immediately, Matriarch was starting to produce smoke, though no civilian casualties since all citizens were either already evaced off-world or safe underneath the city in bunkers built two miles below the surface. The artillery was doing a number on the buildings, some notable ones falling into the ground. Realizing that he had little time, he took his assult rifle, as well as his weapon-of-choice, and started sprinting towards the Landing Zone, hoping to join in the invasion.
Meanwhile, Caedus finally Jumps in with the heavy calvary. Everything from Frigates to Flagships were brought. The entire IA force that was in the galaxy was here, minus the Royal Guard of the IE, and of course the NGU was not here. The IA legion started firing sniper cannons and missiles at the Saiv Fleet assulting the first Floatilla that blitzkrieged Techoyan. The enemy force breaks off and engages the heavy fleet that just jumped in, as well as three Saiv Dreadnoughts, that were waiting around the Saiv force attacking the IA floatilla. Out of the 500 ships that went in, only 122 remain, including the Dengora...
Rob: "General Caedus! and not a moment too soon!"
Caedus: "I se you are in need of some help. Where's Cryxis?"
Rob: "His ship went down right around our LZ for taking Techoyan. The invasion has started on the surface, they might need your help."
Caedus: "I'll be right there..."
Orodum: "Hey, where am I in all this?"
Rob: "Cryxis wants you and your marines to take the Ares. Hyroshi must have arrived by now, luckily no one noticed since all attention was to the floatilla. Wait...we're getting readings that two enemy fleets have just entered the gravity well! They brought 5 dreadnoughts and an anihilator dreadnought!"
Caedus: "Well, no one said this was going to be easy. I'll be down at the surface ASAP. Orodum, ready your forces and take back that colony. The prisoners should also be there as well..."
Orodum: "Don't worry...I'm on it!"
Rob: "I wish us all the best of luck!"
Caedus: "Right. Kijar, take the helm!"
Kijar: "Aye-aye, Sir!!"

*Millions of miles away from Techoyan, a strange figure with an ancient set of clothes (a top hat and suit from god knows how many years ago!) watches the battle unfold...in space...sitting in some sort of red armchair... and an unnecesarily large fan....and...a...polarbear? What?*
Mr. Q: "Just as I predicted, hmm... Time is taking a different course, this time....hmmm...
...looks like ol' Mr. Q is going to have to intervine again....'sigh'. Come on, Borschak, lets gho!"
*The polar bear looks at him with a confused look on his face ...*
TBC?
-DAJNOOBINHAGED
The Aradians are not really that evil. It would take an absolute mastery of diplomacy to turn them away, but it might just be possible. A war with an empire that controls half the universe (way over 50 billion galaxies) would be catastrophic.
On Old Ravion and New Ravion the grass is amber, together with trees, bushes etc. This is a different planet, and although the skies are the same colour as the Saiv homeworlds (also amber), the colour of the plants is green. You're not wrong, I just wanted to make this clear.
I could introduce this guy as a Timewight, an agent of the Ark created to maintain the status quo of reality. They are interdimensional travellers gifted with the power to change the timeline, and they are few and far between, so Mr. Q is unlikely to encounter another of his kind. The polar bear could be considered a Lesser Timewight or a familiar. That decision, of course, lies with you - I simply thought it was a good idea at the time.
Shadow Realm
The Shadow Realm is the old version of the reality in which we live. In the beginning, there were many realities, and of them the Shadow Realm was the most agonising, as each being in it was subject to endless torment. This state continued until the Ark banished the god races here*, wherein the Ucori shone with a brilliant light and drove out the darkness. The Shadow Realm transformed into the temperate reality that we know today, which is neither chaos nor bliss.
*The god races live in 'hidden' universes within our reality. It is believed to be impossible to find these universes by mortal means. Only the Timewights know of their location, and most are not willing to share their secrets.
Celestial Realm
The Celestial Realm, also known as the Eternal Sanctuary, is the birthplace of the gods and the final resting place of the Ark. It is the only perfect reality and is considered to be eternal bliss for all of it's inhabitants. After the Great Fall of the god races, the Ark sealed off the realm. No being, neither mortal or divine, may enter it until Judgement Day; when the horns sound and the new world emerges.
I posted this link on the Darth and Samurye show, but it hasn't really been noticed: http://forums.impulsedriven.com/343925
In light of new discoveries, this is the most contextual form of the government that the Saiv employ: Theocratic olikritocratic regency with strong elements of speciocracy and some elements of kratocracy and cyberocracy.
The state pursues an aggressive right-wing speciesist policy. Intensive flag-wave and ad hominem propoganda campaigns encourage discrimination against non-Saiv peoples both inside and outside the Empire. Xenophobia levels are high in the core worlds, where subjugated species are heavily discriminated against and are often enslaved or cleansed. The Inquisition and Secret Police actively pursue species cleansing in fringe systems and areas of low population density. Despite stressing a fundamentalist policy, the state supports continued redevelopment in social, economic, technological, environmental and political areas towards achieving the status quo ante.
Feel free to ask me about these terms, as some are too complex to appear in conventional information.
so, I'm commanding the marines assaulting the colony?
I apologise for leaving you out of this. You're taking a pivotal role here.
Firaeon
Firaeon (full name: Firaeon Vatikan Inwazja Enero Eclips Vinte-dez) of the House of Burning Worlds is the last Judge Magister of Fire and ultimate traitor to the Saiv Empire. He was born 8,512 (500 of our years is 1 of their years for Judge Magisters specificially) years ago in New Ravion to father Firaeon, aged 21,189 years (traditionally, fathers would name their sons after them); and mother Blazenkriech, aged 23,177 years. He first became capable of telenesis at the age of 95 - remarkably early for most Judge Magisters. He succeeded to the title of Judge Magister at the age of 7,569 after the KIA of his father during the Seige of Helatan by the Aradian Space Legion, and he has vowed to 'kill every last cretin' ever since. He was called for his first major solo mission at age 7,825, in which he successfully destroyed an invading Space Legion fleet. It was his initiation, and he was formally admitted into the EmberFive shortly thereafter. He was the youngest of the EmberFive, but managed to gain the frienship of Judge Magisters Cere and Vivea, and the latter companionship secretly became sexual, despite the immense danger of persecution. At about age 8,550, during the rebellion at New Ravion, he fled the Empire with Vivea. For this act the couple are considered ultimate traitors, and they are actively pursued by the Inqusition.
so, I'm confuzzled. It says I'm taking back the Ares. the Ares is a ship, by the way it was used. but, later, it says that I'm taking back the colony.
so, which is it?
... oh, wait. it's a colony ship. duh. nevermind
*On the planet Techoyan, the WMIF continues to lay seige. The sky is now a furious multi-coloured hail of lasers, and most of the Consortium administration complex is in ruins. The WMIF has overwhelmed the Consortium fleets in orbit, leaving shock troopers free to storm the surface. In a cthonic bunker, hidden from the battle overhead, Othniel and his staff quietly contemplate their available options.*
Othniel: "Status report?"
Subordinate: "The enemy has destroyed most of our ground-to-space weaponry. Our reinforcements from the Into Sector have been surrounded by WMIF fleets. Our remaining ground forces are in full retreat, and our armor capacity is non-existant."
Othniel: "... can we contact Havyavati† from this location?"
Subordinate: "Aye, master."
Othniel: "Then bring her on screen."
+++++
*In a nearby area on Techoyan, the rogues made planetfall. Firaeon leaps from the starboard of the ship, helping Vivea as she climbs out following him. They walk side-by-side in Othniel's direction with a quick pace, yet never tiring.*
Firaeon: "With the Silver Child bound again, only the Omen remains. Othniel now stands between us and it."
Vivea: "He is unlikely to have destroyed the DarkGate. Leverage is important for him now."
Firaeon: "The man is a coward. He will not look world-destroyers in the eye, lest he is burnt by his own guilt."
Vivea: "He is almost certain to have obtained psych-bullets for the Watchmen. We must be fast and lethal."
Firaeon: "Fast and lethal, like on Nabatiye?"
Vivea: "I do not remember the Silver Child like that... I held back a moment; I did not try, it only took you 15 strikes."
Firaeon: "As I remember it, it was 14. And you were leaning over the ice wall."
Vivea: "..."
*Embarrassed, the thinner areas of skin on Vivea's face becomes translucent, revealing faint black veins.††*
† Havyavati will be properly identified later in the story.
†† In humans, someone will often 'go red' when faced with an embarrassing circumstance. In a Saiv, the thinner areas of skin e.g. cheeks, front of nose will become translucent. This faintly reveals a network of black veins beneath the skin. A Saiv will do this under any stressful circumstance, such as anger or attraction, so it doesn't apply to just embarrassment.
"PUSH FORWARD!!!"
*A Colonel yells to his men to push through the enemy barrier. The siege has been going for three days. After finding an underground route into the city of Matriarch, The IA managed to push into the 3rd circla of Matriarch, and are about to break through the 4th wall - into the core of the city. With every soldier exchanging railgun fire, every tank firing their coilguns at the wall, and missles and bombs exploding as they impact solid concrete, the city's sky turns to smoke...
...3 days earlier, Cryxis managed to make it to the LZ, where the field commander went over the plan with his subordinates...*
F.C: "Cryxis, Thank god your here!"
Cryxis: "yeah, the battle's getting pretty hectic here. What's the situation? Has Caedus landed yet?"
F.C: "Sir, Caedus has just landed with a regimant of Ildiran soldiers. He is on his way as we speak. The enemy has just deployed a shield barrier around the city. Our artillery isn't doing anything to it. Saiv technology strikes again."
Cryxis: "And the Johnson is too busy to launch any kinetic bolts, nor are any bombadiers. We're going to have to shut it down from the inside."
F.C: "Their shield is comprised of an emitter a fouth of the way up the space tower, along with four main relays on the outer wall and smaller relays going across it's entire length. If we can take out at least one of them, we will be able to bust a hole in their shields, allowing for the bulk of our forces to infiltrate. Our target is the space tower in the center. we capture that, we basically have Matriarch..."
Caedus: "What did I miss?"
Cryxis: "Caedus. Just in time. We were going over the details of our mission. You know about the plan?"
Caedus: "I was briefed on my way down."
F.C: "Okay. Now, the only way in the city without going through the front door is through the bunkers. Through these ports, the soldiers and war machines enplaced on Matriarch spawn out of. Take one of those, we have a back-door entrance to the enemy stronghold. The problem is, the corridors are too narrow for all our forces to go through one bunker. That is why we are sending you, Commander, and General Caedus in along with one of our best batallions - yours."
Cryxis: "It's fitting that I take my men with me. Alright, let's go!"
F.C.: "Alright! I'll send a regiment to support the capture of one of the bunkers. The rest is left to the both of you and your men. God speed, Commander"
Cryxis: "God speed..."
*The Regiment moves from the staging area into the desert-like plain in front of them. within a few minutes, the group is attacked by artillery from the city walls. The FAVs easily swerve to avoid it, but some unlucky tanks and medium artillery guns aren't so lucky. The survivors of the wreckages hitch rides on passing FAVs, never stopping to mourn the death of comrades. The regiment charges on toward a white, bevelled rock with an enemy regiment standing firmly in front. "That's one of them!!!" shouts the field commander to Cryxis, trying to listen over the humming of tank engines and FAV revs. Artillery from the bunker fires upon the group, combined with the heavy artillery of the gleaming city, bright, translucent blue shield protecting the guns. as the two armies inch towards each other (actually at high speeds) both sides start firing tank shells and flachette guns at each other. The mobile artillery halts as the rest of the regiment charges on, deploying and firing shell after shell at the bunker, the mobile shield generator protecting them from other artillery and mortar fire. The field between becomes a firefight, Tanks firing shells from their 12 inch coilguns and machinegun raining bullets on the rows of trenches before them. Half the FAVs stop, releasing soldiers bearing anti-personell rapid-fire railguns, or APRR rifles. Some bear scoped M160 Anti-Material coilguns, and some carry SAAW-6 Anti-Armor missiles. The remaining FAVs jump over the trenches, and the heads of the saiv soldiers. some FAVs are sruck as they are jumping, crashing and exploding in the process. Some don't make it over the trenches at all, crashing into dirt and enemy troops. Out of luck and skill, Cryxis' FAV manages to make it all the way across to the wall of the bunker...*
F.C: "We need you to get into the bunker and open the gate!!"
Cryxis: "How!!??"
F.C: "You see that antennae at the top!? below it is the control room! Make your way up there, kill any guards, and open the door! We'll be waiting out front!!"
Cryxis: "Got it! You heard the man, let's gho!!!"
Caedus: "Hells yeah! I haven't seen this much action since the Vetaron war years ago!!"
*Caedus carves a hole in the metal door, and pushed it through, killing the guards who were ironically in front of the door wondering what was going on. The two of them start their sprint up to the control room, where the third phase of operation: "Perserverence" will commence...*
It's going to be easy street all the way up to the control room, where Othniel and his staff are located. But there's a problem: Othniel possesses the last remaining DarkGate, and if he destroys it, the mainstream Saiv Empire will become out of reach. The Rogues are likely to arrive soon, but they are at risk of death since Othniel's staff wields a good number of psych-bullets, which you will remember are fatal to Judge Magisters. Otherwise, they're just ordinary bullets (made of a magenta-coloured metal) that will not have any extra effect on the MWIF soldiers. Saiv weaponry is laser-orientated, and bullets are no longer used since they are obselete.
The Ark
The Ark is the point of creation and the only truly omnipotent being. In physical form, it is a sentient stone structure half as tall and just as wide as a bus, and upon it's front face is a portal leading to absolute oblivion. From the eldritch energies of the portal, those being born rise from inexistance, while those that have finished in the world fall into nothingness. That was a long time ago, and now, in the Celestial Realm, the Ark is trapped in the black sludge of malignation, struggling eternally to free itself into the benevolent shining skies above.
The following locations are sacrosanct:
This won't be untill the finale of the siege. Othniel is in the command room of the Temple of War, a large building (but not largest) On the 3rd ring wall. From there, he is observing all that takes place. Not untill the siege of Matriarch is well underway do we fight Othniel...
as for the re-taking of the Ares, that will be elaborated near the end of the siege...
*Cryxis and Caedus finakky make it to the bunker control center. Caedus blows away the 2-ton door off with ease. Before any of the guards could react, the two slice through their personal shield devices with ease. Cryxis proceeds to shoot two of the commanders, and has Caedus have the rest remove their weapons, and suspends them in mid-air.*
Cryxis: "Commander Troy, have our forces taken the outside?"
Cdr. Troy: "Yes, sir. Allied gunships came in the nick of time. Ready to extract the prisoners."
Cryxis: "Alright, I want my men prepared. I'm opening the hatch now."
*The slanted reinforced doorway slowly opens, revealing a large tunnel down and foreward from the group*
Cdr. Troy: "Ready, sir! Your men are preped and ready to go!"
Cryxis: "good, I'll be down in a sec-"
*The control pannel next to Cryxis is blown. Behind them is a figure...*
Caedus: "Now who might you be?"
Hermes: "Just call me Hermes. And I am here to kill you..."
Caedus: "How can you? You are fully aware thet this bunker is surrounded."
Hermes: "Then I have nothing to loose!"
Cryxis: "CAEDUS! WATCH OUT!!"
*The gunman pulls out a pistol, too fast for Caedus to react. The pistol firesm producing a blue, smokey stream leading to Caedus' body. Caedus falls to the floor, convulsing and crying out...*
Cryxis: "You bastard!!"
*The pistol fires again, but Cryxis parries it with his bladerunner. The Saiv's arm is sliced off, and Hermes is shot in the head. Cryxis rushes to Caedus' aid...*
Cryxis: "Are you okay? Wait..that's a stupid question to ask..."
Caedus: "...Ya think!? AARRGGGHH!!!!"
Cryxis: "Can you pull the bullet out with the force?"
Caedus: "Can't...something's prventing me from using the foorrcee!!! ERRGGG!!!"
Cryxis: "Commander! I need a medic to the comm center, ASAP!!!"
Cdr. Troy: "Aye-aye, sir!"
*30 seconds later, marine medics arrive with a hopper. They search his body for any wounds. They find the bullet hole and remove a magenta-ish bullet from the wound*
Medic: "I've never seen a bullet like this before. But it must have been pisoned or something. The reactions he is giving show signs of such, but no neurotoxins, no corrosive substances, just a bullet wound. It's not like one who uses the force to be affected by a bullet wound. Should I take him back to base?"
Cryxis: "No. Put him in our Medical FastVac. He's not to be left behind, you understand?"
Medic: "Yes sir!!"
*Caedus is placed on the hopper and is carried away...*
What the hell happened to Caedus?....And this bullet....what did it do to him...?
*Cryxis emerges outside the compound, there the trenches have turned into a burning field of dead soldiers, debris, craters and disabled vehicles. Above, two gunships are hovering above, one trailing smoke, but still flying. Before him, Prisoners are bbeing lined up, stripped of their armor and weapons. Four FAVs, Four tanks, and two AA mobile platforms are lined up in front of him, Caedus' poisoned body being loaded into one of them...*
Cdr. Troy: "These are the men you asked for?"
Cryxis: "Yes. This will do. Alright men! Let's move out!"
*Cryxis enters the passenger seat of the first FAV, and the eight vehicles enter the empty tunnel, heading behind enemy lines to disable the shield emitter...*
They may be fatal to a Judge Magister, but they are just ordinary bullets to anyone else. They aren't poisoned; the molecular structure makes it fatal.
This will get me started, and so I can be reinforced to continue at anytime
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
*aboard the Edoc'sil, Orodum and IX and VII Corps Marines lockdown the hatches on their boarding pods*
Orodum: "We're going in hot, but don't hit civilians. Only armed enemies."
Ashi Marine: "Aye, Aye, sir. Third battalion is at your command."
Orodum: "Alright. Kick the door."
*Orodum, as well as both corps, launch from Edoc'sil, heading for the Ares.*
*The boarding pods impact on the outer hull of the Ares, and they drill into the ship. The marines disembark quickly, weapons drawn, ready for a fight*
Orodum: "Remember, they might be stronger, but a bullet through the throat or in the brain will kill them just as quickly."
Ashi Marine: "I put three bullets into one of their heads once, and it kept coming. makes you wonder how thick their skulls really are"
*Orodum slung his ritual brand across his back, and drew a large rifle. He centered a switch on the side, and advanced down the hallway, heading towards the center of the ship. The thirty marines in his pod follow him, but at the first corner he turned, gunfire rained down on him, mostly missing. a couple bullet struck his fiber armor before he could react, but he was quickly behind the corner again.*
Orodum: "First platoon! Flank them! Let me know when you're in position, and we'll lay down suppressive fire. Go!"
*five men move down an adjoining hallway, but soon after, they contact Orodum on the comlink*
1st platoon: "Sir we are under heavy fire! It looks like you won't be getting that flanking maneuver."
Orodum: "Hold out with what you have, I'm sending reinforcements." "Second platoon, reinforce first platoon."
Orodum: "We're stuck here until another squad can flank for us."
That would be a Watchman. Remember that Demiel, Jael, Entatan and Cere are still hostile; a bullet to the brain or a gaping hole would heal very quickly, so you would need to either obliterate them with massed explosives or shoot them with psych-bullets.
Entatan of the House of Brotherhood
Entatan is the Judge Magister of Aether and the most powerful of the EmberFive. Though he has no netic powers of his own, he can use the netic powers of the other 4 Judge Magisters. He therefore commands fire, water, earth and wind (after the Rogues fled, this was reduced to water and earth) making him 4 times as powerful as the others. He embodies the brotherhood of the EmberFive, not least since he relies on the abilities of others much more than others do, and is powerless without assistance. He alone knows Demiel's secrets, and like Demiel himself, he will take them to the grave.
*The battalion races through the tunnel, watching as lights whizz by them as they go 70 miles per hour, the top speed of their tanks. 43 minutes of driving, and they make it to the other side. They stop before they emerge from the bunker, sending out a small squad to check outside. They come back to tell Cryxis...*
Marine: "Sir, there are guards everywhere. About seven tanks, five AAs, and at least a full batalion of soldiers."
Cryxis: "Hmm.......I want vehicle 2's men to follow me and my men. Have the rest move back and blend in with the boxes and whatnot scattered around. Use your octo-cammo. They will realize that the bunker ahead has been taken, so we need to move fast.
"I want our groups to make our way to the shield emitter. We cannot alert the enemy to our prescence, so I want radio silence. After 10 minutes from the time we leave, I want all vehicles to provide a distraction. Attack the guards, it will shift everyone's attention to you. Once they are starting to overwhealm you, retreat into the bunker. All tanks to the front with the soldiers using them as cover. We should narrow down their forces significantly. After we take out the Shield Emitter, I will send the signal for the Artillery to bomb the hell out of the city, and send the bulk of our forces to the front door. The battle above should be winding down, so I want you to call a Kinetic Strike on the front wall only. This should give us an opening, in which we can continue the siege. We will escape from the bunker into the FAVs and, once their attention has shifted to the siege, we will join our forces via the main bridge. I wish you all the best of luck. Phase three of operation: Perserverance is in effect."
Marines(whisper): "Aye-aye, sir!"
Cryxis: "good, let's move out!"
*Cryxis' group enters the side entrance. The sound of rolling vehicles and enemy troops outside is ominous, but they were confident that their forces were sufficient enough. Using hand signals, they communicated without ever making a sound. One of his soldiers had a jamming device that disabled the identification sensors, that made sure they were not shown on the control room's security monitor. The visual jammer froze the image before the marines moved in front of them, looking like a slight image malfunction. Finally, their suits counteracted their infarred signature and made it look like the background infarred signature. They made it to the second floor without any guard run-ins. Going down a hallway, they heard noises coming from the hallwy before them. Turning on their active cammo, they became the same color of the floor. Three of the marines were equipped with temporary stun darts, which worked instantly, "freezing" the target in it's tracks. The same position in which he was shot was the same position he stayed in when he was temprarily knocked out, thus the term "freeze him" was used. They freezed the two guards wakling into the hallway in which the marines were, before they noticed them. They were both still in the position of talking to each other about last night's game - a game of which none of the soldiers ever heard of - with a guy named Lennord. One of the Marines, wanting to pull a prank, pulled down the Saiv's pants. Unfortunatley, the prank backfired when everyone found out that Saiv don't wear underwear. They continued moving on, freezing any guard they saw. Then, they got to the third floor. A set of three guards were on patrol. The group was abot to freeze them, when they noticed guards were coming from the back, as well. Cryxis realized the only way to get out of this mess was to kill them. He ordered weapons silenced, and charged at the group of three. Activating his laser blade, he sliced through the three in front, making sure to do so before any of them could make a noise. The marines in the back shot the two behind theim in the head with silenced pistols. Unfortunately, in the halway before them, an enemy bunker personell emerged from one of the bathrooms, to find three Saiv guards dead on the floor. He went to the nearest alarm, and activated it...*
Cryxis: "Shiiiit!"
*The Saiv was shot with a APRR, falling instantly*
Cryxis: "Hurry, let's move it! We need to get to the elevator!"
Marine: "Yes, sir!"
*They started running, ignoring stealth, and rushed onto the fifth floor. With the entire bunker - on top of that, probably the entire city - alerted to their prescence, the vehicles back in the tunnel decided now was the time for that "distraction". The tanks emerged, firing at the patrols, destroying two. Now the entire city was sure to know of their prescence. Four tanks emerged from the building behind the other five, all now aiming their guns and firing. The enemy FAVs were also launching missiles and suppresive fire on the tanks. The reinforced armor of the allied tanks abdorbed most of the blows, but the armor was quickly wearing thin. The tanks retreated back into the tunnel, keeping their sights on the enemy. It worked. The enemy tanks followed into the tunnel, where allied FAVs and misslemen were ready. Commander Henry ordered weapons hot, and the enemy tanks were destroyed immediately. More tanks started cramming into the tunnel, only to be met by tank shells, missiles, and Emp gernades. Meanwhile, on the sixth floor, the guards, knowing of where the marines were, fomed a blockade in one of the hallways, with a mounted rapid-fire laser.*
Cryxis: "Through here!"
*The two marine squads moved into an ajacent hallway, turning left, then right, trying to see it they can flank the group. The marines were met with more guards and more laser fire. Two marines threw frag gernades, effectivley blowing three Saiv guards away, and scattering the rest. Cryxis charged into the group, parrying three sword slashes and rifle fire, killing three using his bladerunner. He shot another two with his pulse gun on the reverse side of the bladerunner, however taking two shots to the chest. The rest of the marines shot out with their APRRs, killing the gunner of the laser minigun and two guards. The other two remaining guards foun cover in their hallway, firing at Cryxis, only to be shot by a charged pulse from the bladerunner, killing both at the same time and reducing them to ash. They make it to the elevator...*
Cryxis: "Alright! Demo team, you're coming with me. The rest of you, secure the control center!"
Marines: "Aye-aye, sir!"
*Cryxis and the demo team enter the elevator. one of the marines, nicknamed "Techman", hotwires the elevator, and tells it to go to the top floor: Shield relay #2. As they emerge from the elevator, the large, antennae-like shield emitter looms over them, along with smaller shield emitters, about four meters tall.*
Cryxis: "Set the charges to 60 seconds. I'll send out the signal..."

Wait a minute, what?
I've successfully designed the planet Helatan by taking ideas from Greg Martin's awesome tutorial: http://gallery.artofgregmartin.com/tuts_arts/making_a_planet.html, although this image does look a bit shabby.
The atmosphere is amber due to a high carbon monoxide concentration, which as you know is the gas that Saiv use to respire, as opposed to our oxygen. The carbon monoxide rich atmosphere was introduced during a terraforming program a few billion years ago, but now careless industrial exploitation has reduced it to a barren dusty wasteland. It's few inhabitants, majoratively Saiv, live in large mobile cities that hover above the ground. The largest of these cities, Helatan, is also the planetary capital and a major staging ground for the Chaplain-Court.
