I see the numbers online vary from 300ish to 800ish at one time.Is this very low, high or okayish?RTS's I came from never had huge numbers in the first place (EaW, CCG, AoK etc.)
It only counts people who are actually in games. Since there's no lobby per se, the actual number of people available is substantially higher.
As a player the thing that matters (to me atleast) if there are some to play with, and there are quite alot of games going on 24/7 [e digicons][/e]
Ah ok, would explain a lot - thanks Frogboy.Do you guys have a figure for the number of people online including people not ingame?
Nice to hear
Where do you see this number?
Ditto. I have always wondering how many people were online playing. Where do we find this number?
Here: http://www.demigodthegame.com/opengames.aspx
Wow, thanks for the link. where did you find that link? I thought we got the number by opening impulse client, and then click on community tab, games.
In company of heroes, you can see the number of players in a game and the number of players online overall. As I recall, most players are actually in games. That said, it doesn't have DG's level of connectivity problems. All that really matters is that there are enough people to get a game pretty quickly.
For a game like this 1000 players is a good base but I know relic and EA RTS' have 1500+
It's an old beta thing. That's how people checked for running games before Impulse showed it
Yeah I remember one day in IRC I think Yarlen posted it and I was like o cool this needs a bookmark [e digicons][/e] .
That's really low, even if it's just people in games / lobbies.
AoEIII usually had between 2k and 4k online at any given time unless it was late at night, when there were more like 1000-1500.
AoK was probably similar.
Warcraft 3 / Starcraft....thousands and thousands more than that (but they're in a different league of popularity, obviously).
^Yeah those aren't established RTS games or anything at all...
Most RTS games that start out from scratch like not an expasion or second game have under 2k all the time.
A day or two back Frogboy told us over irc the real number of people online at the time was around 4200 or so, the amount of people being showed ingame at that moment was just 700, most ive seen this far was 1200 which would correspond to 7200 online
there is only 1 time where there is hardly anyone online and that is arround 9am gmt to 11 am gmt
I say it's really low because AoEIII did not have a very large community and it still had a lot more people online than that. Unless those numbers are terribly misleading - and to be fair it sounds like they may be - I think it's safe to say the online Demigod community is really small right now, which honestly isn't surprising considering the quality and quantity of the online services available at the moment, and the reputation the game received because of its release.
