Well, a lot of time has passed since the “Great Stardock Crash of ‘25” back in March, and things seem to be rolling along smoothly now. It’s high time the Stardock Community recognizes all the long hours, days, and weeks put in by the Stardock team. It was a tumultuous time for everyone involved. Starting from scratch with an offsite backup, the Stardock team rebuilt the entire site. At one point the team wasn’t sure if WinCustomize would survive. It was touch and go for quite some time, and a rough time for all involved including the community as whole.
It seems that today the Stardock site(s), including the Community Forums and WinCustomize, are running smoother than ever, and that’s thanks to the dedication of the Stardock team.
Thank you to all the members of the Stardock Team for giving us back the site we love. We respect all the hard work and long hours that went in to make this happen.
Thank you!
Certainly well earned thanks from us all. I remember the initial grim tidings...when we all thought the fat lady had finally sung.
Thank all the powers to be that moving 34 TB of data that moved like molasses in January wasn't too much for the team. The 25 year old sand castle was rebuilt grain by grain...by patient, caring and totally dedicated people.
Thank you...one and all for the monumental task you accomplished so well. Not every grain got back in place but more than 99% did, and that's one helluva job! You folks deserve our gratitude, and some .
Thanks, pelaird. Lovely post.
Thanks! It definitely wasn't an easy task but we are glad to have everything back up and running. And we appreciate all the hard work you guys do as well to help keep WinCustomize and the community going. It's a team effort and we have a great team in place!
I also would like to add my two cents as well. I also would like to express my thanks and gratitude to
the guys at Stardock and Wincustomize who have put in a lot of hard hours and work and time in bringing
Wincustomize back from the brink. It was a close call, but perseverance won the day!
A huge shout out to Stardock, and to Wincustomize, for being special and unique, and a good
place for creatives to hang out and share!
"The Crash of 25".
Sounds like fun....[it wasn't].
Being 'mostly' on the outside looking in the wobbly steps the sites made to get back on their feet was pretty horrible to watch.
T-Man and the rest of the grease monkeys need to be applauded for doing the impossible.
If you 'only' frequent Wincustomize.com you might think all of it was pretty straight forward, but Stardock has significantly more than 1 or 2 sites - all interconnected.
After 25 or so years I can still trip over another "I don't remember that one..."
