I personalized a tab accent color to be the default for File Explorer just playing around. I've tried setting the accent color to "No accent color" and then tried renaming the accent color and neither worked. I couldn't find anything in the Groupy.exe to undo it. How can I reverse what I've done?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried restart Explorer.exe and see if that help?

Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Thanks for the link, Basj. I gave restarting Explorer.exe a shot, but the accent color I set is still showing up in File Explorer tabs. I’m wondering if a config file or registry setting is where Groupy stores the default accent color for apps? It would be helpful to know where to check or reset that.
May I know how did set the accent tab color to your explorer tabs. Post a video showing us how you did it and I will try to reproduce your issue in my system. Also, need few more details.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
To set the default color for Explorer back to None.
1) Right-click an Explorer tab and select "No Accent colour."2) Right-click the Explorer tab a second time, and select "Save this Accent colour as default for this application."
If this doesn't solve your issue, please follow the direction from Basj in Reply #3.
I tried changing the tab Accent color back to "No accent color" like pelaird suggested but that doesn't work once you've set a Default accent color for an application. I also tried restarting Explorer but that doesn't work either.
Pelaird's image shows the context menu you get when right-clicking on a tab and expanding the Personalization menu. To set the Default accent color, you first right-click on a tab, expand the Personalization menu, and set a tab Accent color. Then you go back into the right-click menu > Personalization and click on "Save this Accent colour as default for this application".
Microsoft Windows 11 ProVersion 24H2 (0S Build 26100.4349)Groupy v2.2
After further investigation, I have found that the "Quick access Accent colours" in the context menu do not work as expected. However, if you use "Pick Accent colour..." it does work as expected.
Once the tab color has been picked using the "Pick Accent colour..." the "Quick access Accent colours" menu choice now works until the window is closed. The tab color does persist, but to change the tab color to a new color, this process has to be repeated when opening the window again.
However, the "No Accent Colour" still does not work. It simply reverts to the previous color choice.
There appears to be a bug in the code related to personalizing the tab colors.
Carfar02 and Basj, can you test this on your systems and see if you get the same result and report back.
pelaird
pelaird,
It works on my computer like you described.
To me that seems to confirm there is bug somewhere.
Basj, please test on your system (see Reply #6). If you get the same results as carfar2 and i, please report to the Dev. team.
Hello,I believe, I can reproduce this one. Refer to my short video below. Something similar to your observation, yes? I have forwarded this issue to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Groupy\Groupy.ini\Groupy\SavedColoursApps
This is the Registry key. I deleted the color values for explorer.exe and c:\windows\explorer.exe and that works for now.

Edited for clarification:
These were the ones listed in the noted registry location... it will differ obviously depending on which application you set to a default color
Thank you for sharing this! The colours are pretty buggy right now, especially when I use them with browser groups. I went ahead and purchased a license because colors are not a dealbreaker for me, but I would really love it if this could be sorted out.
Hello everyone and thank you much for posting.

Any news on whether this bug has been fixed?
Thanks,
Robert
Unfortunately, there is no new information on this one yet.
There is a new Beta 2.30 which supposedly fixes this.
You can download it from your Account Download page. https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
