Several months ago, Start 11 v2 (from Object Desktop subscription) stopped working. All other Stardock software seemed to be working fine. After my Object Desktop subscription ran out, I uninstalled everything from Stardock. I then installed Start 11 (1st version), which I bought separately. It worked fine until the system was rebooted, then I'm back to the regular Windows 11 start menu. I did find out that if I hit the Windows key, I get the Start 11 menu, but only from the Windows button.
I've uninstalled Start 11 with the purge.bat file for a clean uninstall, rebooted (multiple times), reinstalled Start 11 v1, and get the same result: Regular Windows start menu, but Windows key will bring up Start 11. Purged again, rebooted, and tried the Start 11 v2 trial, and get the same result.
Out of desperation, I downloaded OpenShell to see if Windows was somehow overriding the start menu control, and it works just fine, even after rebooting. I'm able to use their start menu instead of the default Windows 11 start menu.
I would appreciate any help resolving this issue with the Start 11 start menu control as it prevented me from renewing Object Desktop when my subscription ended last month.
I'm running Windows 11 Pro Version 24H2 and Stardock Start 11 Version 1.5.5.0. Have also tried the Latest version of Start 11 V2.
Thanks,
Brian Johnston
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know your current Windows 11 24H2 OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I can not reproduce your issue on my Windows 11 on Start11 v1.55. It open Start11 start menu with both the keyboard Win button and Start button click.
Moving forward, please try, uninstall Start11v1, reboot immediately (important), download again latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
I have experienced the same. Besides Start11 I also used the explorer patcher software. I removed explorerpatch and the Start11 button was back!
Hello,Thank you for reporting back. Yes, using another application that change how Explorer work would cause strange issue with Start11.
Thanks Ariebakker,
I had explorerpatcher installed on my system as well. After uninstalling it, I also uninstalled, rebooted, then reinstalled Start 11. Now it seems to be working properly, even after a reboot.
Never would have figured that one out, so Thanks Again!!
