When it comes to 4X, I'm all about exploring, expanding, and exploiting. I really liked how Megastructures gave me new ways to do so.
With the recent update, you've taken a lot of flexibility/choice away from me. I find the limited nexus augs to be very annoying and, quite frankly, haven't played since they were introduced. It's enough of a sore spot for me that it may end my GalCiv IV journey (which of course means no more $$ from me for you).
I run a custom Civ, and there doesn't even seem to be a way for me to choose the augs to which my Civ has access. Was that an oversight or purposeful? I'm hoping oversight and it gets corrected soon, since the whole purpose of creating a custom civ is to... well... customize stuff to better suit your playstyle.
As an aside, are those limitations moddable? I'm not a modder, but if there's a game file that I can edit to get the flexibility that I want, I'll figure it out!
The nexus augments are based on your civilization traits so even with a custom civ you can change which augment you will get with the traits you chooses.
These limitations are certainly moddable, you can simply remove the trait prereqs from the augments. I may do just that actually and add it to the bundle of mods I maintain.... check out UP Bundle of Mods V1.9.54 at https://www.galciv4.com/mods/manager and you'll find UP_MBC_NexusAugmentsForAll in there. Load up that mod, start a new game, and you should have access to all the different possible augments on your nexus regardless of which traits you chose.
That's awesome, thanks! I already subscribe to your most awesomely curated bundle o' mods .
We've been doing some pretty serious rebalancing on this too to make power generation rather than gigamass the main factor.
I like the switch to energy so far! If ships items could start draining the pool of energy (and not just a check at build time), that may turn out to be an interesting fleet limitation mechanism.
Awesome! I am hoping this Summer for us to go through all the existing expansions and DLCs and do a full balance pass across all of them.
That'll be a fun project
