Sean ... I just had the Fences update on the boss's machine...she's on Win10...I'm using an old fence [pickets] on Win 7 so not the newbie...
Changelog screen ended up full height of screen with no way to remove/ok it... had to kill the process...and underneath was the notice to reboot...
May panic people if it can't be closed independently...
Win 10 Pro ...22H2 build 19045.5487
Edit...potentially OK/close buttons might have been off-screen... Terry' s sight disability means she's at 200% ... but I couldn't drag.
I also had an issue similar to Jafo. If I had been a newbie, I might have panicked. I downloaded the installer from my Account Downloads. At some point, he installer opened a dialog that said something about an Update being available which I closed, and then a dialog opened at the bottom of the screen covering the "Installing Fences" info dialog. Upon closing it, finally the restart Windows appeared. It was not a good process to say the least. I believe something is amiss with he installer.

Posted this https://forums.stardock.com/527677/page/1/#3929531 and since fences is now really a pleasure to use.
Congrats !!!
I'm running Fences 5.88 on Win 11 24H2, and some of my icons are not showing the correct icons. The four incorrect icons are showing the blank icons (white piece of paper.) Even if I manually select the correct icons through the properties menu, the icons don't stick.
Hi,
I've just ugraded the latest fences version (5.88 rev.8) on windows 11 (24h2). I was hoping the right click flicker is fixed, but unfortuntately, it still exists, sometimes the icon that is right clicked flies from left.
I am attaching a public url for you to review. This only happens for regular fences, not folder portals.
Please let me know if you need more info.
Thanks.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.
If the issue still appear, please start your own new thread and post in it some screenshots of your issue.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce your issue on my system. May I know your Windows 11 24H2 OS Build number, please use Winver.exe to get this number.
Also, if you have Windows 11 Pro, please do a test install in Windows Sandbox and see if the issue also appear while in there. Refer here for steps on Windows Sandbox: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#sandbox. Try that and report back in your own new thread, since I believe this issue is unique to your system.
Can you reproduce this with Fences disabled or with it enabled and with an icon not in a Fences?
Sean DrohanStardock Product Lifecycle Manager
Sean,
Good suggestion that I've already tried.
Below, you can see when fences disabled, there's no flicker of the icons when right clicked.

I'm running Fences 5.88 on Win 11 24H2, and use Wallpaper Engine(2.6.21). There is a problem of blur background. If I use the blur background, my wallpaper of Wallpaper Engine was disappeared! It show the default wallpaper of Windows. And if I don't use the blur background, it is correct.
thanks.
I am afraid this is going to be a lingering incompatibility with how the 2 apps operate and handle the background.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please post screenshot of your issue so we understand it better. Also need Windows 11 24H2 OS Build number. You can use Winver.exe to get those number.
My Fences just was updated to 5.88 revision 8 today (installed earlier, then a fresh reboot this morning), and I'm noticing performance regressions when using Peek. When I invoke Peek, whether by clicking the hot corner (my typical use) or by using a keyboard shortcut (atypical, but tried it to see if it'd make a difference), I'm seeing the following new behaviors...
* The background desktop image for my non-primary monitor disappears...it just goes to black (regardless of whether a fence is open) until Peek is dismissed
* Hover effects inside a fence are sluggishly responsive to mouse movement
* Double-clicking to launch an application inside a fence takes an unexpectedly long time
* Probably related, in Task Manager, Windows Explorer jumps to the top of the process list when sorted by CPU usage, settling at 2-3% (of a 24 core CPU), whereas it's typically reporting 0% without Peek
If I open a fence without Peek, I see none of these problems. I use Peek quite a lot, so I'm quite certain this is new behavior.
I'm running Windows 11 Pro N, 24H2, build 26100.3194.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you also running Animated wallpaper on your system by Wallpaper engine?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
No animated wallpaper. Just one of the stock images that comes with Windows as my background. Further info...
* I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from a fresh download (with reboots in between), and it hasn't changed the behavior. But, notably, when I installed, I didn't let it clear the settings as I wasn't keen to recreate my Fences configuration. If there's a way to export or duplicate the configuration, let me know, and I'll be happy to try an entirely clean uninstall/reinstall.
* In regards to app launching, I stopwatched one example. An app in one of my fences consistently takes 2-3s to throw up its splash screen when I double-click it from the fence without Peek engaged. With Peek engaged, it consistently takes 21-22s (this is the symptom I first noticed, and the one that's the most crippling for me).
* FWIW I also have Groupy and Start11 installed.
* I can't guarantee that the background disappearing thing is new to this release. I might have seen it before and not thought much of it (and, typically, I have a fullscreen window open on that monitor, so I wouldn't notice often). So, maybe it's related and maybe it isn't. If Peek weren't slowing app launching, I wouldn't even care.
If you do a clean boot, only enabling Fences for it, can you reproduce your issues?
https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1332445272/Fences+Clean+Boot
Reproducible after a clean boot. In the test account, with all services and startup apps disabled (excepting one AV-related startup that wouldn't disable...part of ESET NOD32), with the default-created fences, launching Firefox from a fence was instantaneous without Peek, and took 18s with Peek. It also blanked out the non-primary background image.
We may have found the cause of this and are looking into it. Thank you for the report, John.

Issue: My Fences show up when I use Peek as expected, but then the desktop wallpaper shows up a few seconds later in the Fences. Also, transparent icons in those Fences have an unexpectedly dark background. Personally, I prefer the prior version's way of showing Fences and icons.
Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe): Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.4890)
Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen: Use either the hotkey or the lower right corner of the screen to show Fences from behind a window.
This screenshot shows a transparent icon with an unexpectedly dark background.
EDIT: I updated my NVIDIA driver to version 572.70 and then restarted explorer.exe to make sure that windows on my main display don't maximize beyond the taskbar. I then tried Peek again, and this is what I saw. Instead of a plain dark background, now I see some window contents behind the icon. (For those who are curious, the contents come from this page in my browser with the Dark Reader extension enabled.)

Thanks for the acknowledgment. If there's anything I can do to help test a candidate fix, please let me know.
For now, I've found that I can work around the issue to my own satisfaction. If I invoke Peek and double-click to launch an application, and then simply click on any window or the desktop afterward to dismiss Peek, it seems to free up things and immediately proceed with a fast application launch. That's, by far, the most incapacitating symptom, so I'm happy for now with the workaround.
