Running Windows 11 Latest version as of 01/13/2025 with 2 Monitors. Everything was working well until I created a new playlist in DeskScape 11 and now both monitors show only the top third of the animation on both monitors, also the animation is split in half with the right portion on the left and the left portion on the right and with that image staggered in slices. I've run the purge program and reinstalled Deskscape to no avail. Does anyone have a solution as to what went wrong and how I can get things back to normal? I've inserted an image of monitor 2 and what it looks like.
Sorry for your troubles. Please run winver. Post it and the version number of Deskscapes, so we can help you best.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need information as mentioned by Doc above. Also need to test changing these setting and see if any of it help.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Thanks Guys, really appreciate the quick response. I'm running Windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2605), and Version 11.02 of Deskscape. The settings that Basj told me to check were already set that way. What's my next step?
Best regards guys,
Butch
Have you check those two other options, I mentioned above, does it change what you get with those other options?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Hi Basj,
Yes I checked the options you asked me to check, and they were already set as you suggested. I did do a little more testing, and I found out that all the NON-Animated backgrounds run perfectly, only the animated items are messing up. I didn't add or do any changes to anything in Windows 11 or download any other apps. The problem started when I created an new Playlist. My old playlist was working until I decided to fix the problem by running the purge bat file. Now nothing works excepts the Non-Animated backgrounds.
Thanks again,
Do you experience the same issue with all three codecs?
Did you change video drivers recently?
Hi Neil,
No, but I did check to see if my Nvidia driver is up to date and it is. I did try and disable the Intel Integrated Graphics, since I have an RTX-4060 Ti graphics card, but that didn't do anything.
Jan,
I don't want to seem stupid, but I guess I am. What do you mean by all three codecs?
I remember seeing this issue reported before, but for the life of me, I can't remember what the solution was. Maybe a detailed search can find the thread.
I found the thread, but I don't think it will help. It involved the user bricking his computer when attempting a clean boot. He ended up wiping his drive, reinstalling the OS and then Deskscapes which worked correctly.
It also involved an upgrade from 23H2 to 24H2.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I tried all three options, and nothing worked. Still puzzled how just adding a playlist started this in the first place. I've added several playlists in the past for different holidays without a problem. I have DeskScape on 3 other computers all optioned the same and this one, my newest build, is the only one with this problem. Worked great for several months then this? If you can think of anything else please let me know, I miss the animations, even thought the static backgrounds are pretty darn good as well.
Thanks,
Is the issue happen with only one animated wallpaper? And if it is not, If you start a new playlist of an animated wallpaper. Start with one and test it, add few more and test. Repeat until you see if the issue reappear. It might just be one bad coding animated wallpaper causing the issue.
Already tried that, Basj. It's happening with all the animated backgrounds. I did start a new playlist and put just 2 animated backgrounds in the list. I have 2 monitors, and it usually puts the same background on both, again just like the original image I posted. I tried what pelaird suggested, and did a msconfig removing all non Microsoft services, but that didn't help either, same results.
If you have Windows Pro, please test Deskscape on Windows Sandbox: https://forums.stardock.com/485954/deskscapes-support-faq#Sandbox. See if the issue still appear while in Sandbox.
I do have Windows Pro, and if I did this right, I installed Sandbox, opened it, copied the installation app to Sandbox and installed and activated it there. When I ran it, the animated background appeared the same on monitor 1 (top third of screen, split and stacked slices of the background). On Monitor 2, Windows Sandbox, the whole image was there, but no animation, just the image. I don't know if I did it right, but that was the only way I could figure it out. I've since put everything back to normal. Still not working?
I know you are getting fed up with all this, but we do try to help. What you can try, is to uninstall your nVidia driver, reboot, and download the latest one and do a clean install. Not sure what other options to think of that you haven't tried already.
No, I'm not getting fed up with all this. I'm grateful for all the help I've been given in trying to resolve this issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Nvidia driver, and that didn't help, I even did a complete removal of Deskscape, again, only this time I reinstalled Windows 11 Pro, keeping my apps and data, and that too didn't work. So as a last resort, I switched both DP ports on my Graphics card, to one DP and one HDMI port on my motherboard making use of Intel Integrated Graphics. "THAT WORKED". However, now I have to find out what the problem with my graphics card is, whether or not it's a setting on the Nvidia control panel, which I didn't touch, or the graphics card itself. Oh, well, I got my animated backgrounds back. Thanks to everyone who took the time to try and help. It is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Thanks to all,
