Hello,
This isn't exactly a bug, but my friends and I would really love to see this feature in the game.
The game lacks a kind of sandbox where we can pit different fleets, individual ships, or squadrons against each other. As a newcomer, I find this to be extremely important. We fell in love with your game at first sight, but it's difficult for us to understand the differences between the ships.
For instance, I can see that the enemy has a lot of aircraft, and there are many ships with anti-aircraft guns in the game, but I don't understand how effective they are. In the heat of battle, due to the lack of post-battle statistics, I can only guess whose air defense was more effective.
There was also a case when my titan lost in a battle against a friend’s titan. I simply didn’t know what his titan was capable of; I wasn't aware of the descriptions and characteristics of his ships.
If you could create a sandbox where players could build ships on a map and pit them against each other to see the results, that would be fantastic. This would give me a better understanding of what each unit represents and help develop counter-strategies, as there are many ways to enhance specific ships in the game.
If you need an example of such a sandbox, take a look at the game Cossacks 3. It features an editor where players can test the effectiveness of units. In the future, this upgrade will help quickly determine how balance adjustments to units have affected them by pitting them against each other in open combat and directly comparing the results.
Thank you for considering our suggestions!
I don't think you need a sandbox. You just need to gain enough experience playing this game to know the nuances of each titan. You haven't really described what titan your friend was playing or what titan you had so I'm at a loss here. But generally speaking each titan will have strengths and weaknesses to each other and toward other faction titans.
Also why are you giving a link to a youtube video that is 8 years old and has nothing to do with this game?
Morning OP, the Sandbox idea would be a nice "to have" but not sure if it would be something we would receive, though I 2nd that idea. Now in regards to the titans, if your friend was playing the Rebel Terrans then his Titan was possibly the long "Wing Commander 4 looking Behemoth" "cigar shaped one - The Ragnarov Titan . It is basically a big gun with an engine, slow to maneuver but straight on, it will basically kill anything, when supported by a low-mid fleet. The Main Terran fleet Titan is more like a soaker of damage. A Flying Wall but can be killed easily enough.
Thank you for your responses.
I had a Vasari Titan called "Vorastra," while my friend had a defensive Titan named "Ankylon." As newcomers, we mainly relied on the descriptions of the ships to guide us.
My friend attacked my planet, which had 26 defense slots, including a top-level combat station with upgrades. Yes, my Titan jumped through three systems and didn’t make it to the battle at the start. However, my Titan was upgraded to level 5 and had all six upgrade slots filled with various modules.
As far as I understand, the Vasari do not have fighters. When my Titan finally joined the main battle, it simply collapsed and was utterly overwhelmed. We had to retreat. My army limit in the system was 2000, while the enemy's was 1800. I barely managed to take down half of my friend's Titan.
Then things started to go south. Since my friend is also a novice, his units that were supposed to engage in close combat were being wiped out. The sheer number of carriers and torpedo bombers was overwhelming. When I restored my forces back to the 2000 limit, I jumped into battle again and faced defeat once more.
Honestly, after spending 45 hours in the game, I still don’t understand how to effectively counter air group attacks as the Vasari. A sandbox mode would help me simulate situations and practice without having to invest time in development while having full control over the enemy's army.
For reference, here’s an example video from another game showcasing how this mechanism is implemented.
Hello!
While a sandbox mode does sound really nice to have, it would take quite a bit to get implemented properly so I can't really promise anything like that soon, but I can also see your point in how itd be helpful. It may be worthwhile for you to join the discord and post this in the suggestions section, people vote on suggestions there to better show interest to devs
Unfortunately, Discord is not available in my region. I would really like to pass this message to the developers, but I don't have the opportunity to do so.
Not a problem, I'll pass the message along and make the discord post on your behalf
