v2.5 Beta Brings Vertical Taskbar Option on Windows 11

Today we are releasing the Start11 v2.5 beta with new features, a couple of enhancements and bug fixes as well. The update is available now as a beta and you can download this release from the Download page of your Stardock account or through Object Desktop manager – learn more here.
New with version 2.5 is the ability to use a vertical taskbar on Windows 11. The vertical taskbar can be placed on the left or right side of the display and functions just as you remember from previous versions of Windows where this configuration was supported. To enable the new taskbar experience, open the configuration panel, click Taskbar, scroll to the Taskbar position option and select you desired configuration.
Along with the new vertical taskbar support, centered taskbar buttons with a left aligned Start icon is now supported on more than two monitors (previously only two screens were supported). While support for two monitors covered the majority of our users, we wanted to make sure power-users who have many displays can utilize this layout as well.
In addition to the new functionality, several bugs are being squashed with this update. We have improved compatibility with the latest Insider builds of Windows 11 that we expect to be released in the coming months and with this release, Start11 v2 will be ready for those updates.
Vertical taskbars have been highly requested by our community and we are happy to finally check this feature off the backlog. If you have any requests for upcoming features or find any bugs that we missed in our testing, make sure to join our community here.
And if you haven't tried Start11 v2 yet, you can download it from the app page and it is also included in the award-winning suite, Object Desktop.
Wow! There are a lot of people who are going to be really happy with this update!
Great work Dev Team.
What he ☝️ said.
The previous beta version is downloaded using the link provided (by logging into my account I have a purchased license). Please give me a download link.
It seems with the vertical taskbar and autohide, I have to click the bottom left of the screen to have the taskbar show up. I would rather just have to click to the side and have it show up. But for some reason this isn't working. I have to go to the bottom left corner of my desktop to get the vertical taskbar to show.
me too, I can't find the download page even though I am logged into my account
Really good build from the start 11 dev team. There also seems to be various compatibility fixes. Vertical Taskbar is essential to some people and this is a build that should help people migrate away from Windows 10 as it reaches the end of support
How do I get to see the Download tab for the V2.5 Beta?
Is your taskbar at the left or right and this is Start11 auto hide not the OS one?
On the websites top right corner you will see your profile picture. Click on that and then choose "Downloads" from there.
Under your start 11 v2 purchase you will see a "beta download" option.
Its left aligned and autohide is being done by start11 and NOT Win11. When I have my edge browser in full screen or a window open at all, then the taskbar works fine. It's just on the desktop when there are no windows open.

the downloads are always capped at aprox 1-200kb/s, why? its painfully slow to download the beta or even updated like this. its been like this for years. no, its not my 2gigabit internet.
Still showing as 2.49 for me in my Downloads section.
WOW, I am really pleased that you were able to develop this feature!
Ditto
Not seeing it listed in ODM? I've checked that early release builds are on, and I see a Fences Beta...
Not full deployed yet?

I was able to download and install it and after a reboot it appeared but all the items I had pinned to it disappeared. Probably a bug. and apparantly no way to add back items, if I use windows settings for task bar nothing I add shows up and if I navigate to start11v2 it doesnt bring up any UI
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to confirm something. Pinned items on taskbar or from Start menu disappeared?
Also, please include information on your Windows 10/11 full version and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I rebooted but it didnt help, then I ran another unrelated app as administrator and magically the items on the task bar reappeared. The start11 start menu items were always there. sorry probably impossible to repro but a data point for you
Great news. The left side is where my taskbar always lived on the wide displays of today. In the beta top alignment works for me, left and right alignment are ignored and leave the taskbar where is was on the bottom. (3480x1440 125%) No crashes or errormessages, so i hope the beta contains some kind of telemetrie to help you get feedback on what works on what hardware and what not.
Uninstall the build, REBOOT, reinstall. I suspect some files were not replaced correctly.
you just made my 2024 AND 2025 The bar is back on the left !!!
after a reboot its working fine, totally awesome, now I just have to re-learn where it is, I am still looking at the bottom then I realize it has moved. Thanks!
