I have spent about 56 ish hours playing Advent Wrath. Getting 25 Temples of Harmony and Hostility up is a little too difficult, and still finding room for unity shrines due to the limitation on civilian slots. Perhaps adding a way to increase civilian slots with a planetary item should be considered or discussed. As Vasari can build all of their empire/warfare labs on their ships they do not need many systems under their control to max out their technology. I would like to see some touch-ups to the Advent's Shrine of Hostility/Harmony planetary item perhaps make them give more than just one per unit. Conversely, I think there may be also a need for diversity in playable races to perhaps eliminate the distinction between them and make Advent Temples handle both trees but perhaps require more temples at each level. For Example 1/6/12/18/25?
Well, there used to be 20 labs required, in sequence 1-4-8-13-20.
It also used to be pre-release, that once tier was unlocked, like V, you could scrap away all the labs., you could research all that the tier unlocked. Then there was a version, where labs were all planetary, space labs were only to increase research speed.
if you do pve, you can get unity points via research or passive skill upgrades on colonizer capship.
Vasari loyalist (Exodus) faction has the labs on ships and starbases, not the 'rebels'(Alliance) they still do have that planetary slot that adds 1 influence and 3 civ build slots, so Asteroid gets 8 instead of 5. Later on I think V tier, 6. That is a huge amount. Meaning, 11 slots instead of 5.
As TEC, youre not doing great with slots either if you want trade. And a specific green planet to make exotics production faster.
You need tier 10 planet to be able to build +2/4 size upgrade to a planet. Meaning, moons, asteroids are out.
Old SoaSE:R needed 16 labs total. Neither 40 or 50. There were technically 8 tiers, in this one you have 10, made into 5 groups of 2 stacks. I do think the 50 lbs in total is excessive. If they are made more expensive, say, reduce them to 40, though I can imagine 30 as well.
There was also a version, that counted total number of labs, low tier research was much faster sped up.
You need also space for propaganda.
I definitely would love to get more input from more players and maybe even some community engagement from the development team.
As Advent, I rarely get higher than tier4 in both civilian and military. Tier5 has only several upgrades, which are efficient only in long games when you can dig in with starbases, and use passive experience income to slowly level up 20+ capital ships. Well, if the upgrades are trully needed, you can always build labs of one type, research everything important, and then replace them with labs of another type.
Hey, thanks to everyone for the detailed feedback! Community engagement always helps us to make a better game. Labs have gone through a multitude of changes on the Sins path, and we do find them to be at a sweet spot right now. However it is true, that advent players feel some disadvantage due to lack of a logistic item. Our end goal is to make gameplay for each faction unique. This also means, that some tools will not be available across all factions, but there is always a trade off. Sometimes the trade off comes from a completely different field. Advent for instance have an uncontested supply efficiency when it comes to their cruisers.
But let's get back to issue at hand with the labs placement. One of the core Advent upgrades, is their homeworld exploitation, which gives +4 slots, along with income increase. That's 4 extra slots, other factions simply do not get.
When struggling with labs, you should always install planetary modules. Some planets may even provide more than +1 lab per item. This means you will be having at least a lab, for each planet colonized.
Finally, Advent have less use for orbital extractors and their unity structures come in smaller quantity than Trade Ports or even Phase Resonators, so your overall need for slots is smaller.
Advents are definitely a strong faction, with it's strength and weaknesses. We will keep our ears open to any feedback on their labs and logistic slots, and for now I hope my comment will help you with strategies around their stronger sides.
I appreciate your feedback Zabik. I would like to see a larger research speed bonus and shrine bonus from planets. As it is my understanding all non desert planets have 1 and 5%. I would like to see an expansion of planetary items for the advent as all of them except the 3+ 25% shrines available on desert worlds feel extremely underwhelming. The Shrines giving .5/1.0/1.5 and the planetary discount track feels underwhelming. The 2000 HP and 50% regeneration defense seem underwhelming, along with the PSI power and shield strength. Additionally, the shrine of assimilation feels extremely weak as well. I would like to see it reworked to give each X amount of time to provide multiple chances to take control of the vessels the longer they stay in the gravity well. I know balancing is delicate and I do not want to ruin the game's balance. The ship items for advent feel versatile and effective no complaints there.
