After buying some Stardock apps, my class on WinCustomize was "Customer" iirc, which let me get unlimited downloading. Upload links just gave an "access denied" message, though.
Read some posts & articles, but it was all about subscriber access classes I guess, and not much detail about the customer classes. So anyway, I just buy a WinCustomize subscription, and class now changed to "Subscriber."
Been working on a wallpaper pack & was thinking of uploading it. So I thought maybe I had to subscribe... but upload still just says I don't have access... Hmm. Hoping I didn't just waste more money, lol.
How can I upload then? This page (linked by article about uploading) info about access classes doesn't say anything about the "Customer" class, nor the "Subscriber" class. I would think that, being registered, and subscribed now too, then this is the "access class" listed on that page which should apply to me:
This is a registered user. 99% of users are going to be Citizens. A citizen is a member of the community. They can submit skins, download and talk on the message board. Citizens can modify their preferences to display skins of any rating or above.
So what am I missing here?
Also, since I pay for subscription now, is my "Customer" class lost permanently? Or if my subscription expires in a year, will it revert to Customer? I bought the Stardock stand alone apps (as in, not subscription based).
From what I can see, you should be able to upload and download freely.
What browser are you using?
I suggest clearing your browser's cache and cookies, then signing into Wincustomize and uploading from the home page in the upper right corner where your nick appears, click and choose upload from the drop down menu.
Thanks for looking into that!Hmm, already tried logging out, clearing cache, cookies, a restarting browser before loging back in. I just tried it again anyway. Still no luck. It just says:
Somehow, I think there is a typo there, but the msg is clear enough.
I'm using Vivaldi (which is based on Chrome). I disabled uBlock origin already. I guess Vivaldi also has some built in ad/tracking protection, but I already used Vivaldi a lot and never have issues like this. Maybe I will look into disabling those built privacy tools - except I prefer not to mess with that. I'd just as soon try with a different browser (not vanilla firefox or chrome though - won't touch those browser with ten foot poles)... I'll post result later.
Try Edge...just to see. I'll drop basj a note. I haven't run into this before...unless it's a file size problem or possibly you're using non-alphanumerics in your file name? Please check that possibility.

I use Vivaldi and have no issues with uploading content to WinCustomise. Vivaldi ver. 6.9.3447.41 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
I've contacted the Community Support Assistant and Support.
Hopefully they'll be able to solve your problem.
Sorry I can't help beyond what I've suggested you check. 🤷
Quoting pelaird, reply 4I use Vivaldi and have no issues with uploading content to WinCustomise. Vivaldi ver. 6.9.3447.41 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Mmm hmm, same version here: 6.9.3447.41 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

Can't even reach any point where I might select any files. On the main page, if I click the upload button, I don't get any kind of upload interface, just immediately goes to that access denied page. Okay, I guess I can try running edge, in a sandbox, when I get home.
You might also do an online virus scan on your computer.
What are the file names of wallpapers you're trying to upload?
OK, so I tried with Ablaze Floorp, which is based on Firefox ESR, I've been using this browser a bit lately (I like it), but just reinstalled windows a couple weeks back and hadn't gotten around to installing Floorp yet, so this is a fresh install. Same result... Access denied.
I also tried with Edge, which I only used once, to download Vivaldi, after installing windows a couple weeks ago. The only setting ever changed in Edge was disabling automatic Microsoft account logins. No extensions installed for edge. Again... Access denied. *sigh*
Well thanks for trying to help. I guess I'll wait to see if basj, or support can offer any solution.
On the home page, in the page's top menu bar, "upload." On the wallpaper gallery page, same "upload" button on the top menu. On the top right, on all pages, clicking my username opens a dropdown, where there is also an "upload" link.
All of these "upload" links appear to point to https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/all/new and they all just take me to that "access denied" page.
I'm not just missing something blatantly obvious right under my nose or something, am I?
Yes. The questions I asked in reply 7.
It’s 3:00 am where Basj is located, so it will be a few hours before he will be online.
There is most likely an issue with your account. Make sure your account name and password are the same as you used to purchase the WinCustomize subscription.
You're right, I totally did miss that, lol.
Fresh Windows 10 install. First thing installed is BitDefender, a real capable AV that has very aggressive heuristics and updates its defs many times every day (though personally, I think Kasperky was better - fuggin politics). Second thing is Windows Firewall Control to block all incoming and outgoing traffic by default, and have WFC notify me of all attempted connections, which I selectively create informed rules for only as needed. The third thing I install is Sandboxie, to keep all of my web browsing completely sandboxed from my system (though I made an extra-special exception just for WinCustomize and ran both Floorp and Edge un-sandboxed just to test, then I immediately restored a shadow copy of my system from before doing that because I'm OCD about security, lol).
I keep my systems locked up tight and know what I'm running, from who, and why. Haven't had an actual virus in... literally ever, and been working professionally on PCs over a decade.
I haven't installed much on this system yet either, since I installed Windows two weeks ago. Mostly just Stardock apps.
Just tried it with my iPhone too, same result... that same "access denied" page. So I'm totally sure it's not a virus on my PC.
It's all stuff like MistRealm001.jpg as that's how I typically name files. I avoid spaces and special characters, at most I might have a dash or underscore. Really not relevant though... at least not yet. Because I can't get nearly that far. I'm not clicking "upload" after selecting a file, because I can't get to any upload page at all. I'm clicking "upload" on the home page, and being sent directly to an "access denied" page. So my files/file names are not even in the picture yet.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Just to confirm your issue is at the early stage of clicking the upload button like video below. Or the issue when you actually trying to upload a preview image?
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I made a short video showing how to upload a wallpaper to Wincustomize.com refer below. Please point to where in the video you seeing the issue on your system.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Well, scratch the virus and file name ideas...pelaird might be right about this being a password/account problem.
basj - thanks for making those vids.
I think that Support will be the ones to help...if it's an account/pw problem, those of us living outside the US can't help you...a matter of US banking laws.
Good luck with this thing, Fi1thi-Cupkaike. Sorry I couldn't help.
I think, if it fail on the first stage, first video, it might be account issue, but if second stage, it might be something is blocking the picture to be upload.
Edit: made a critical correction and clarification
Please post a screenshot of what you see when you press the upload button.
Note that I edited my last reply, Reply #17 above, with a correction and clarification. This the page I get immediately upon clicking the "Upload" button you can see in the menu bar just under the WinCustomize logo, or the "Upload" link in my username drop down menu. It never shows the "Select Gallery" page - instead just goes straight to this "Access Denied" page.
I wonder it is due to that "dash" inside your user name "Fi1thi-Cupcaike". Have you tried changing your user name?
Forget it, I checked and there are plenty of user using name with dash. Moving forward. Please raise support ticket using the link below, use "Ask a Question" option. Include all information details. Remember to record down the ticket number for future reference if needed. Do not raise multiple ticket, that will make your ticket back to the end of the line. Send once and wait. Ticket will be answer by the order they send in.

ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant
Okay, was a little burnt out with all this, and pretty busy otherwise too, so put off having to distill all the details into a reasonably concise support request, for a couple days. lol. Haven't given up yet though. Just submitted the issue to support through the link you provided Basj, so hopefully this can get sorted soon. I'll post an update here once this issue is fixed.
Thnx you Basj !!
Thnx you too DrJBHL & Pelaird !!
You're more than welcome. Hope they can help you soonest!
Account fixed! So that's good. Thanks again!
Still leaves a couple questions from my original post though:
Should I have been able to upload with the "current customer" account class?
Also, since I opted to pay for subscription, does it mean my "customer" class is lost permanently? Or if my subscription expires in a year, will it revert to "customer?" I bought the Stardock stand alone apps (as in, not subscription based).
Yes.
What was the problem which caused the access problem?
I don't know. Support just replied to say that my account should be fixed now, and it is. Originally, my account class was "customer," but clicking any upload link would just show me that access denied page. I described everything in my original post above. About how there was no info about "customer" access class regarding uploading. The articles regarding uploads and access classes talks about the various subscriber classes, but says nothing about customer classes.
So given the language on that "access denied" page... and the lack of info, I figured I had to pay for a subscription. That didn't fix the issue though, and it sounds like I shouldn't have had to.
That raises my other question though (which I'm repeating for a 3rd time now, lol), because it sounds like the answer to this question matters:
I really want to know how the "customer" class works for users who purchase non-subscription based Stardock products. Does that tie into the "one month of support?" Or is the "customer" class perpetual, like the software license I bought? Or what? I have searched, but have not found info about this.
