Version: v2.5
Details: the Xeno Geology tech line (Xeno Geology, Weather Control, Weather Control Zenith) is not available to Vigilant civs, despite being one of the trademarks of that racial ability.
How to reproduce:
- Start game with Arcean civ
- Enter research screen, click Tech Navigator, click Science
-> Xeno Geology tech line should be near the end of the tech tree, but it's not there. Also, if you use the search box to search for Weather Control it is nowhere to be found.
Bug cause:
File MasterTechDefs.xml, line 2825:
Xeno Geology has Atmospheric Scrubbers as prereq, which in turn has Xeno Conservation as prereq which is only available to Aquatic civs. So the whole Xeno Geology line cannot appear if the race is not Aquatic.
Solution:
Xeno Geology needs Environmental Engineering (or some other tech that is available to everyone) as prereq.
Tried it out through modding and then it worked.
Yeah, I also have a mod that fixes it on https://www.galciv4.com/mods/manager in the bundle I maintain.
Do you mean the UP bundle? I have the latest version and I still don't have the Xeno tech. Is this because I"M playing a synthetic race?
I thought Draver's UP mod had a "fix" for that but yes Synthetic's Xeno line ends at Xeno Medicine which is blocked for Synths.
Yup, that's the one. I was not aware of the synthetic limitation that Gypsy just exposed. Let me take a look at it, I might have a way to fix that as well.
Edit: well this is strange, using the Yor as template, if I change one of their trait to Vigilance, I do get the Xeno Geology line in my tech tree running my mod in the UP Bundle. So I'm not sure why you are not seeing it.
I'll have to look at the other mods I'm using to see if there's something preventing me from getting the tech. If I find something I'll post it here.
Sounds, good. Let me know!
I just tried without my mod that moves Environmental Engineering sooner in the tech tree and I could still see Xeno Geology in this Yor game.
Just for fun, just start a new game with the Yor (or any synth race) and make sure they have vigilance. Check the tech tree on turn one under science and see if you see it after Environmental Engineering.
It is there, I was just looking in the wrong place. Thanks.
You're welcome
Aree you seeing xeno medicine?
It's a follow up to Environmental Engineering.
I do have Xeno Medicine. That line of tech ends there, and Xeno Geology does follow behind Environmental Engineering, as @Draver said.
