In Sins of a Solar Empire II, players must guide their faction against the threat of extinction with three distinct races: the Trader Emergency Coalition, the Vasari Empire, or the Advent Unity. Each race has been updated with their own asymmetric playstyle including unique starting conditions, units, abilities, and game-changing Empire Systems.
Sins II will give players more tools than ever to form their own play styles as they battle, scheme, monopolize, and manipulate their way to victory. Am I allowed to critique the video a little? Its weird to have things like "blocker" or like "backstabber" as if they where predetermined roles, I would have stuck to the lore of the game as kind of like a story telling theme. Also, if you are going to state the advents introduction, prob should at least have one image of them.
Otherwise, cant wait this this next big update, I know two people who are waiting to buy for this very update.
To be clear, does the Steam rollout coincide with the actual 1.0 release or is this a continuation of the early-access period - just available to a wider audience?
And I agree with the above - the video struck me as a bit of an awkward first-pass (focusing on loosely-defined categories of player-behavior in any general RTS rather than building investment and excitement for the continuation of 'this' universe) but I suppose it's early yet and for my purposes, it's neither here nor there. This should help get more eyes on the game, at least and I'm happy to see it on my preferred storefront.

Overall, 2024's going surprisingly well on the gaming front so far.

We were trying to show some things that you can't do in most real-time strategy games (or of this scale at least) and certainly can't do in Sins: Rebellion. The steam store page describes them in more detail and are just examples.
As for type of video you suggested, I agree and it will come in due time.
Been a huge fan of all the older games, still have the 3 originals on CD "lol" but not a fan of the Epic exclusive you had.
I understand why you said you did it but I still feel you let a lot of the community down..

Great news that a) Advent is coming, game is coming to Steam soon and c) full release in summer.
The April update post mentioned that the next update would be in Aug and would include Advent. That would imply that the next update will also already be the full release. While good, I was wondering whether it would be helpful to have that faction and all the gameplay systems that come with it also play tested for a few weeks, just to iron out any kinks and/or make final adjustments. It reminds me of the sequencing of the Sins 1 release, which - from a user perspective - went smoothly, but maybe on the developer side there were some reflections what worked well or less so with that approach.
I also hope that culture will get some form of upgrade with the Advent faction. It was one of their focuses last time and a feature that had potential for more last time.
And I guess some more diplomacy options as was pondered on Discord.
The "roles" were a bit of a surprise but I think the goal was accomplished. I like unusual approaches ...so I guess take my comment with that disclaimer..
Now just have to avoid counting the seconds till launch..
Will artifacts on planets with global improvements be added in the release version, as was the case in Part 1?
The title "ソーラーエンパイアの罪II" on the Steam store in Japanese sounds quite awkward. Additionally, it may confuse people who bought the first title in Japan, as Sins 1 and Rebellion retail boxes were released as "シンズ オブ ア ソーラーエンパイア" and "シンズ オブ ア ソーラーエンパイア リベリオン" by Zoo, the localizer/publisher, even though those names were just transliterations from English and not easily understood.
For the sequel, in my opinion, "シンズ オブ ソーラー エンパイア 2" is acceptable, but I prefer "シンズ・オブ・ア・ソーラー・エンパイア 2". The symbol "・" is often used as a blank space when writing words from foreign languages. (We don't use spaces much in the Japanese writing system.)

Will the epic people get steam keys? Will the lobby system seamlessly just list games across both platforms?
I don't know what sort of cross platform friction to expect.
TBD on the Steam conversion; we're looking into it. As to multiplayer across platforms, there's no friction since the game runs on our own systems.
If we already purchased it on Epic will we get a Steam code or will we have to repurchase it again?
As Yarlen said in the message right above yours, it's TBD. They seemingly intend to do it, but there might be issues, contractual obligations, financial considerations etc
Not to dampen the mood, I'm hyped the Advent are finally on their way. Its pretty much the only faction I played in Sins1. Better late than never !

There's no GOG release planned for launch. It's possible after, however.
