Seriously, no upgrade licensing discount? I've supported you all the way from 2.x and now you treat us like we're first-time buyers or jump to silly subscription. This might be goodbye.
Indeed. Why would I want to pay monthly subscription for something I have installed on my computer. I'm not your mommy, it's not my job to pay you allowance... Just let us buy permanent license to the software like any normal product at a normal price. You make major upgrade, make an upgrade option. Honestly, most people will just use a good old fashioned crack if you treat customers like that.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe it is not monthly subscription it is yearly subscription. Look like this is what Stardock is pushing on Fences 5 currently.

Basically, it looks like the latest update was just so Fences 4.X could pop a notification that Fences 5.X was out.
Hence why a subscription is of no value here.
I purchased a lifetime license for Fences 5 and uses a discount code, and it only cost me like 26 bucks and change 'including tax!'. I also have been basically using fences, among other Stardock products and licensing that i've purchased as well. Likewise, I wouldn't of upgraded from my Fences 4 license, which is lifetime for me already from my previous upgrade. However, since THERE IS A WAY to purchase fences 5 for reasonable one-time / life-time purchase, I was willing to do that; it's fair overall.
The companies spend a lot of money on developers and keeping new version coming out. They make some cool products too for customization and organization especially. Easily worth 25 bucks to me!
Use this code in March-April, 2024 - Maybe the coupon code will stay valid for all of 2024; I just don't know, but it's working because I just used it at 12:30AM 3/17/2024 approximately. I was able to purchase the lifetime fences 5 licenses here for the price using the promotional code:

REMINDER; 23.99 sure beats 39.99 or whatever they charge for the upgrade from fences 4 to fences 5. Plus it's a lifetime license, not an annual fee!
Ok, old user here…. I've been buying your software since Start8, then I discovered Object Dock, Fences, and Multiplicity....I've purchased every update, but I don't really see a meaningful difference (actually any) from Fences2, to v3 and now 4, so I don't see a compelling reason to upgrade to Fences 5, the same for Start11 v2.Can anybody here tell why will it worth upgrading?, (I don't care about colorful customizations).
It is a better price(it should be $10-$15) but what they will do is change to fences 6 after a year and a half which would give the idea to the consumers it's better to just get the subscription instead so you don't have to buy another lifetime license for that new version. We're already at v. 5.5 with beta, so expect 2025 to have version 6. Most people don't really see the need to upgrade anyway until there are too many bugs with the current version of windows. I would however upgrade for the price of $10-$15 though.
