Any idea why some of my custom ship designs from previous games are not showing up in new game. The Flag ship designs do show up, but not the combat ships. All these ships show up in the Ship Designer before I start a game, but once I start a new game and open the Ship Designer in a Shipyard they're not there.
The ships I subscribed to in the workshop also do not show up in game, or in Ship designer in or out of game.
I think it's all part of the new shipyard mechanics that allow you to see only ships it wants you to see. I HATE THIS. I don't want the game to tell me what ships I can and cannot build. Maybe sometimes I want to build a battle cruiser instead of a paladin.

I understand your frustration with the new mechanic that selects the best performing ship to prevent shipyard model overload. You can still get to the ships that you prefer if they are already made in the template, as you can find them in the "edit an existing ship template" section of ship designer when you're in the shipyard. you can then select the ship you want, and save it as a custom design to get it to show up in your buildable ships list in the shipyard.
I hope this helps and I understand this mechanic isn't a perfect solution to design bloat in ship yards. if you have suggestions for improvements in this area I'd love to hear them as well!

mperlmuter - You already have a button to "Obsolete a ship design that is no longer needed", why manage the list for us. At the very least just add a button to "Show all ships" for those of us who want to see everything and not have to jump thru hoops.
Also, I do not see an "edit an existing ship template" button. If I pick "Show ship designs", it only shows me the ships in the current in game shipyard list and only some of my previous custom ships have started to show up there. If I pick "start new design", none of my previous custom ships show up. So where are the custom ships I built in a previous game.

So where are the custom ships I built in a previous game.I think it follows the same rules as pre-designed ships in that you don't get to see them until the game thinks you should. But there's a difference in that your ships, once displayed, will stay until you dismiss them.
