Good day!
I have the startmenu and several Tabs (folder tabs) and when opened another TAB than Startmenu Tab and leave the startmenu I expect to see the start menu again when I open start again (I do not expect to see one of the tabs !!) but it does not work (I even choose "open menu on this page for current desktop).
How can I open startmenu automatically ?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I am really not sure what you're trying to get to. Please elaborate more.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Hi Basj,
I have a start11 v2 Menu (when you click the windows start icon) and gave that menu a tab for it self (named "START"); I them made several TABS (add a folder as tab). So when I click the windows start icon I see the START tab and 5 Folder Tabs.
When I click a folder Tab and finish what I had to do I leave the menu.
When I return to the (start)menu I see the TAB where I just left but I want to see the START tab menu page ofcourse. So my question is : How can I automatically return to my "Start Menu Tab" ?
Understand. If you want the "Start" Group always show up as the main Group. than you might need to move it away that "Start" group to be alone with no other tabs with it. As a tab with others tabs there is no option to make one tab always be the "main" tab. You can Right click on a tab->move->Detach tab from tab group. Than move that single tab group to top.
Something like screenshot below. And if your main "Start" tab have lots of icons. You can move that tabs group to another page. Right click on tab->move->Move to next page.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Thank you Basj ! Yes it works! If I would live in the same city I would buy you a beer !
I don't know if it is allowed but I have one other issue: After changing things around a little, I can't pin some items (f.i. excel worksheets etc) back at the start menu; some items (of the same kind) can. I can see that all such items are stored in :
and from there it should be possible to pin them back on the start menu but, as I said : some work, some don't........
I wonder why that is?
I am not sure on your second issue. Usually, how do you pinned item into Start11 start menu? I, usually just use right click on any group I want to add a file or a folder-> new -> pin file or pin folder-> File explorer open up and I browse to that file -> Click on it to mark it -> Click "open" button. It work all the time for me.
Yes! Well done a 2nd beer ! You are a star!
Thanks Basj
Hello Basj! I have another question for you: what means "open menu on this page for current desktop" ?
Okay, its new for me too, but I tested it and I can verify it. If you have multi Windows desktop page, you can set which Start panel page open while you on which desktop page. For example. If you in your first desktop page, you can set your start panel page 1 to appear when you press start button. And you can set some other page to open up when you are on your second desktop page and so on and so fort. Hope my explanation make sense.
Thank you ! I never use multi Windows desktop page so for me no use.
Its okay, if I remembered correctly, it was requested by some user before. I too don't use it most of the time.
Good morning Basj!
I hope you don't mind that I have 2 more questions:
1. In the popup menu of start there is a command "launch the entire group" ....I hit that command accidentally and .......about 35 files were
launched which I had to close one by one......terrible ! Is it an idea to have a precaution build in there "are you are sure you want to launch
the entire group ?" or something like that ?
2. The tabs I created on start11 menu are nice and useful, however if you click once on them and then click again you end up in the edit
mode (so you can change the name)....however I probably don't want to change the name at all....enoying... ; Is it perhaps not much
convenient to use the "rename" command for that ?
Hello again.
Hello again Basj!
I appreciate your help recently...it all works perfect!
I have one suggestion: I have a start menu and several Tabs, it would be great to automatically see the START menu when
going into start again (now you return to the last tab...which is not very ennoying but more enjoyable when seeing start menu again)
Hello,I have forwarded your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We really do appreciate your feedback, Thanks
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
This is something that myself and c242 have asked to be implemented as an optional feature.
The option to set a tab in a group to be selected by default when the Start11 menu is opened.
Hello Basj and Pelaird,
No news about this issue ? That's a pitty because I find it ennoying that every time you go back to start you first end up at one of the tabs..... Is it so difficult ? Maybe these guys are not so smart afterall !!
I have other remarks:
The button "see the disk drives and other hardware connected...." well it show the drives but not the other hardware !
The button "open a program, folder, document or website".... no it does not open a website, document or folder....it the RUN command for things like NETPLWIZ etc
I really wonder what this "open menu on this page for current desktop..." after right click on start11 ?
Anyway I was happy and paid for start11 but it seems start11 is not particularly interested in what clients want.... Pitty !
The request was send in and its up to Support and Dev Team to review and implement or not the request. Please do not assume all request get implemented. And, insult, will probably just make thing not moving forward.
With regards to the tooltip for "open a program, folder, document or website", thats the exact text used on Windows 7. You can indeed open a website by typing www.google.com in the run dialog for example.
Likewise see the disk drives and other hardware connected is again a Windows 7 text. Notice the This PC window labels the area where the drives are as "Devices and drives", not just drives.
Open menu on this page for current desktop tells Start11 to open a given page when you are using the Microsoft Virtual Desktops built into Windows 10/11. This lets you have a different start menu page open depending on which desktop you are using.
Hello Basj , Pelaird and Neil Banfield!
It looks like that from last update you have managed to follow up on my suggestion to return to START every time you used one of the TABS.....i.e. after I worked in one of my TABS and go back into START MENU I return automatically to START ! Great and thank you all for achievin this !!!
Best regards, Jan
