Hello, I am hoping a developer see this post because I have a question about the game's performance. Some time ago I asked if there was going to be that 2gb limitation and was answered no, Sins II was going to be a massive improvement but I was recently watching a youtube video.
And at one point, the game started to stutter when there was a massive fleet in a gravity well fighting. https://youtu.be/kZK2hOtn6ag?t=1034
My question is, is this stutter a result of game limitations or is it pc hardware limitations?
Thanks in advance.
There's a RTX 2070 (mobile) and i7-10875H in that rig. They're also on 4K and screenrecording. It seems likely that this is due to that situation and it being a laptop. 2070 (mobile) is not meant for 4K in general; perhaps thermal throttling?
But that's all just an opinion, I have a 3070, 12700 and play on 1440p, and while I haven't tried to push it, I did not experience any stuttering at all.
Your specs aren't too bad.
Would you have a hot minute to try spamming like over a 1000 bomber squadrons and engage a fight with AI opponent to test performance? And if you can, can you test both 1440p and 4k perchance? You don't have to do any of this, but I'm honestly curious about the limits that we can push Sins 2 to.
You're probably right, that RTX 2070 and i7-10875H was likely thermal throttling along with screenrecording taking up system resources.
I don't have a 4K monitor, but unfortunately it is confirmed that squadrons are pretty laggy right now. It's considered an issue and will be fixed in a couple of patches. I haven't tried 1000 bomber squadrons but I don't think the game will run well when zoomed in on that, and meh when zoomed out.
I'm looking for someone with a 4090 and a 14900 to actually fully push it haha. But there are bound to be specific issues still at play. Armistice gave off infinite particles or something before and that was a big issue, but now gone.
I see, thank you for responding @RammaStardock . According to Smarti12, squadrons are pretty laggy right now, would that be true?
I'm a huge Advent player, and my usual strategy is 600 bomber squadrons in Sins Rebellion but that causes the game to be really laggy and pretty much unplayable due to the game's limitations which frustrated me constantly.
I noticed also, that based off what I've seen from youtubers videos of Sins 2 and Smarti12's comment, that the lag is consistent with "zooming in". Which seems to be a lag caused by zooming in to view upscaled ship models at close view. I'm assuming the developers are aware of that?
Cheers for responding

I didn't know the 14900 intel cpu was already out haha. That would be a monstrous pc build lol.
Hello! The creator in question for that content, experienced those issues not due to game performance but as an effect of the mods they utilized.
So anything besides vanilla Sins 2 might have performance issues?
