I'm in my 30 day trial of Start11. I love the software, and it generally does exactly what I want but I have an issue with items in the start menu that are menu items rather than links.
Every time I hover over and expand a menu item, when I move away from it, Start11 forces Explorer to reload - all taskbar items disappear completely for about 1.5s then reload. As they reload, the custom start button is the last thing to reload, so it reloads with the normal start button and the Start11 custom button returns after a brief pause.
Has anyone seen this before and can they help me troubleshoot?
TIA

Are you using dragon software?
I installed Start11 yesterday for the first time. I noticed that it was reloading in the same way whilst I was configuring it - every time I changed a setting it did the same thing, but I thought nothing of it because I was changing the settings.
The issue happens every time I access a menu item, as soon as I click away from that menu item:
I managed to screen capture as it reloads before the settings are back to normal:
No, I'm not
Any reason you're not updating to Windows 11 current latest release version? Also, try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Re-download and install Start11. Reboot again after installation finished. Retest and report back.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
No, no specific reason. It's a brand new pc, I only built it 3wk ago and I thought it was set to auto-update Windows but it seems not. It's been updated now.
I did as you suggested - uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted.
The problem remains.
Please try update your Windows 11 to latest if you have not yet (22621.1778) and please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I've done all of those things as suggested and the end result is the same, unfortunately. Explorer still reloads every time I click on the Universal Applications menu item.
Maybe something is conflicting with Start11. Please try cleanboot: https://forums.stardock.com/505872/start11-support-faq#cleanboot
Thank you,

When run in a new admin account without clean boot the software seems to run fine. I wasn't able to run it in clean boot on my normal account - I get the following error when I run the bat file:
If Start11 is reloading every time a menu item is accessed, there could be a few possible reasons and potential solutions to address this issue:
Check for Updates: Ensure that you have the latest version of Start11 installed. Sometimes, software updates can include bug fixes that resolve issues like reloading. Visit the official website or the software's update section to download and install any available updates.
Disable Third-Party Programs: Temporarily disable any third-party programs or utilities that might be conflicting with Start11. Some applications can interfere with the proper functioning of Start11 and cause it to reload. Close or disable them one by one to identify if any specific program is causing the issue.
Clear Start11 Cache: Start11 may store temporary data or cache that could potentially cause reloading issues. Try clearing the cache by accessing the settings or preferences menu in Start11. Look for an option to clear cache or temporary files and select it to remove any stored data that might be causing the problem.
Check for Menu Customizations: If you have customized your Start11 menu extensively or added custom items, it's possible that a specific item or customization is triggering the reloading behavior. Try removing or reverting any recent customizations to see if the issue persists. You can then gradually add them back one by one to identify the specific cause.
Reinstall Start11: If the issue continues after trying the above steps, consider uninstalling Start11 completely and reinstalling it. This can help resolve any potential installation or configuration issues that might be causing the reloading problem.
If none of these solutions work, it may be helpful to reach out to the support team or community forum for Start11. They can provide more specific guidance based on your system setup and any known issues related to reloading. what to give dog for fever
It's Grammarly that is conflicting. I've been through the process of closing down running apps and the issue resolves when I close Grammarly, but recurs as soon as I restart it.
OK, so now we have the culprit, can I resolve this? I use Grammarly all the time so losing that would be a real headache.
Does Grammarly have an exclusion option?
It does, but the way you add exclusions is by clicking the floating icon when it checks text. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear for Explorer or Start11 and there doesn't appear to be a way to add exclusions manually.
I have messaged Grammarly to see if they can suggest a solution too.
This has been reported elsewhere by other users: https://forums.stardock.com/516257/updated-grammarly-is-crashingresetting-start1110-windows-shell
Got a great response from Grammarly:

So, it looks like this should be permanently resolved. I'll report back once it's been rolled out and tested.
Awesome, glad to hear that. Thank you very much for reporting it to Grammarly and report it back to us.
