Others have already started topics about this but it doesn't look like you guys are taking this seriously because after a lot of posts in those topics, it still is not resolved...

I caught a virus so I had to do a complete windows reinstall. I just installed the newest Windows 10 22H2 directly from MS. This is a brand new install and the only other software installed is Discord and Avast. Fences just WILL NOT WORK. Dragging rectangles does not work. In Basic Options, the checkbox shows that Fences is enabled but when I right click on desktop there is an option to Enable fences so clearly it is not enabled. Fences does not appear in the Task Manager.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, it is working fine on my Windows 10 system. Below is a screenshot of my system running Fences latest without issue. And, if it actually no longer working on Windows 10 we will get a lot more reports. Please let work together and try to resolve the issue your are facing on your system.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
My point is, I am not the only one in the world with this issue... It is clearly happening to others.
Here is what I have tried so far...
Uninstalled Avast anti-virusRemoved all icons from desktop except for RecycleFollowed procedure for Clean Boot- Still not working
Used Fences PurgeReinstalled Fences- Still not working
No idea what else to try.
Hi Crawfishy,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble.
Are you familiar with navigating around the command prompt (dos)?
If so can you navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Fences and run Fences.exe /forceinitialsetup ?

There is def. something going in with Windows 10 and Fences. I've seen the exactly same today.Unable to get Fences 4.10 to work » Forum Post by Jonas_007 (stardock.com)
Funny, that it seems to occur on fresh installs.
TPScroggins... No prob...
I did that and it pops up the "Getting Started with Fences" window.I then clicked on "I'll create fences on my own" and the window goes away. Then the Fences config window appears. I double check at the bottom of the Home section to be sure the checkbox is checked for "Enable Fences"... it is checked.
Still cannot make any fences.
I agree with the post by c242... It seems to be an issue with new Win10 installs. I think that was what the other people had done in their topics with this same problem. Before I had to blow away my HD and reinstall windows, I was already running the newest Win10 22H2 with all updates installed and Fences was working fine. That is exactly what I have now but just a fresh install. That is why you are not hearing about this issue with "Everyone" with Win10. FYI: This is the newest Win10 available for download from MS.
May I know, what version of Windows 10 reported by Winver.exe on your system?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Version 22H2 OS Build 19045.2846

Crawfishy,
Just to confirm as we research more into this issue, are you running this on a VM?
Since there are a couple of post with this seemingly related issue, let's go ahead and locked this one and move other to the other one to continue the discussion
