I've been making my own (like in the screenshot) and downloaded other skinners' Rainmeter widgets for a long time since DesktopX was discontinued and there's even a gallery here at Wincustomize. I don't see DesktopX being brought back to life, but something similar with a very simple interface (think Curtains vs. Windowblinds in terms of simpler) would be great in my opinion. Any thoughts?
I would prefer''DesktopX Reborn' over every other solution. Why re-invent the wheel? And it was easier to handle and configure than every other product.
Is there a reason it can't be revived, like complete incompatibility with W10/W11? If not, why not revive it...but if there is, I'd agree with your take, Jan.
I still can start my gadget from 2010 (with heavy scripting included) on my Insider Build of Windows 11 with decent values:
Systray is a problem as SDCentral is needed for that one and cannot installed anymore.Desktop Gadgets - DX Skinnable SysInfo V 2 (FREE DOWNLOAD) | WinCustomize.comIts a bit nifty to configure, but it still works.
Just made a new object,
Now my evening is lost. Playing with DX again.
Btw, nice widgets Jan Oscar.
TY. I used the GT3 stuff and made a lot of skins for Sysmetrix, Rainlendar & DesktopX for my personal use. It all started with my need for this tiny RL calendar.
I have installed DesktopX again and a lot seems to be working. Maybe I'll bring my Cabal desktop back to life again.
Now, this is fun.
Yall don't even want me to get started....
Restarted, Red. Restarted with a vengeance!
Just came to my mind: Imagine DX being able to send messages to show/hide Fences.
I love you gusy. Alwasy fighting teh good fight.LONG LIVE DX!
AI Chat-Zu seems to have the typo component down pat.
Good to see you, old friend.
For a long time I used xWidget but now I'm back to using Rainmeter mostlty.
All Rainmeter except the calendar which is Rainlendar2.
Rainmeter is a nightmare if You want to do extraordinary things. I hate all that typing or copying and pasting.
This is why I made my own 'Skin-Generator' with VBA and Access for the fun of it.
