Hello, I only found out about there being a Sins 2 today, so that made my day! Really hyped. @Yarlen
I had a question about Sins, and whether it can be supported by Steam Proton on Linux?
I know that Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion works perfectly fine on Linux with Steam Proton. One could say, that it performs even better on Linux than on Windows due to how little resources Linux uses compared to Windows. I can even run modded games like Stargate and Star Trek mods on Linux with no problems.
I also have some questions regarding the specs on this game. I assume that since it requires 64 bit, that we are not going to have the same 2gb limitation that plagued the original game and Rebellion? I wasn't a fan of the late-game stutters
And would a CPU with higher cache like AMD's 3D v-cache technology on their 78003D, 79003D and 79503D will benefit in terms of performance? Simply put, would more CPU cache have high performance gains for Sins 2?
Thank you to the Developer team for making a Sins 2, you guys are awesome!
We won't be officially supporting Linux, so I've no idea. I guess time will tell?
Since we're 64-bit, there's no longer the 2GB RAM limitation; we've no idea if 3D v-cache will help or not.
@Yarlen Would there be any chance of Sins 2 technical preview being on Steam? My main reason for this query is Link
Right now we're only focused on supporting the Epic version.
No problem, I understand.
In your opinion, do you think I could potentially install the game from Epic Version and then use Steam "add non-steam game" to library and play it via Steam proton? As I'm a linux user and have been playing Rebellion on my linux operating system for years using steam proton.
I honestly have no clue, but I think some users have? Sorry for the very late response!
I run sose2 on Linux using the Heroic Games Launcher to manage the epic game store library and proton execution.
Single player works flawlessly.Multiplayer did not work last time I tried it as the game thinks the version is different than the windows version and won't allow the connection.
