The ship range is how far you can travel from one of your planets or starbases. There's a faint outline of where your ship can move when you select it if you zoom out far enough to see it. Probes have unlimited range, but if you click on your colony ship or survey ship, you should see the lines change.
My advisor keeps telling me that I might want to consider colonizing a world, but even when my colony ship arrives there successfully, when I tell it to colonize, I receive a popup stating that the world is "outside the fleet's range". What does this mean, and how can I overcome it?
