Hello.
I'm new to Stardock stuff. I'm trying out Iconpackager on the 30 day trial. I'm really glad this option was available. It can be very frustrating to buy something only to find out it doesn't do what you expect of it, or require it to do. The two most important things for me are having a way to change the default system folders from those gross yellow ones to something fancy, and being able to change a whole whack of file type icons at one time. Iconpackager does that for me no question. I really appreciate what the makers of this stuff put into it. Not that I'm an expert or even slightly learned on the computer machines of today, but what I do know is what I want, what I need, and what I like. These are the only things I can base my opinions on. So, I have an expert opinion on Iconpackager as it pertains to those topics. I give high marks to anything that allows me to use something I've bought to it's fullest. To do this we need two things. One must be able to use everything that is promised to them, and one must also be able to easily find out how to use those functions if there is a question, or confusion or missing information. This is where I am finding a lack. There are many things going on that are not explained and I have had absolutely no success in finding the answers to these puzzlements. This is absolutely irritating to me because it makes me think I will not get full value, especially when there are free versions of similar applications that actually do what they say they will do. However, free stuff is crap, and it takes ten free stuffs to make one buy stuff. But with free stuff, no matter how much you buy, you always get full value. But, again, one has to put up with crap. On the other hand, people will put up with a massive mountain of crap before they will spend any money on anything that they believe could be crap. This is where customer support needs to shine. It needs to completely ensure there is not even a hint of crap.
I am very impressed with what Stardock has to offer, for while I have been putting Iconpackager through the gauntlet, I have been researching other offerings such as Fences, and Windowblinds, and the others, and I am positive this is what I want to have in my future. I would like to be an expert Windows customizer extraordinaire. I'm having much difficulty in cha-chicking my MasterCARD, though, because I am very concerned there are no paths or avenues that I can meander that will lead me to understanding how to get the most out of this awesome suite of software. This is actually the most common and frequently stated remark I have found while searching and researching for any kind of evidence that this is not the case with Stardock. I need assurance that I will be able to use this software to do everything it has been advertised as being able to do, and, that it will do everything I can reasonably expect it to do. Is there someone there, with some just short of check signing authority, that can do that? That would make my day, and rid me of the stress I am dealing with trying to make my decision. I would really like to have what this software has been advertised to have. I don't want to make use of any more free stuff.
With highest regards,

Gerry (hope I'm correct), while in principle you're right regarding your initial clause, OSs change, builds change and it's a major struggle trying to fix, patch, etc. I'm not one of the devs, but I've been around long enough to admire the job they do while helping solve user problems.
Since you appear logical, might I suggest you create a list of problems and puzzlements and post them in this forum: https://forums.wincustomize.com/forum/169
That way our Community Support assistants and Support can try to help you.
Hello Dr.
Yes, you are correct. I am known as Gerry. Thank you for your quick response. Please forgive my pho pah of posting my email. I am going to follow your suggestion, and when my report is ready, I will submit it to forum you specified. That is some very sound and logical advice. I just can't figure out how to do that yet.
I have decided to try all of the other available trials to see how everything works together. I believe the more a person studies and practices, the greater one's knowledge and experience grow, in a certain length of time. If I'm correct, I will be a Stardock wizard in no time.
Thanks for the prescription, Doc. I am really curious to find out what this stuff can do.

I wasn't the Moderator who fixed that, and it wasn't really a 'faux pas', Gerry. That Moderator just wanted to protect your privacy.
You don't have to wait to post a long list...you can post them one or a couple at a time.
