I was running the latest beta version. It then asked if I wanted to install version 1.2 versus beta version 1.18. It was the right question but it shrunk the size of my icons pretty significantly. Should that be?
Custom tiles in Win11 style will now size as the icons do. It was a bug before where they sized so large and could overlap the text incorrectly.
I see what you did. You deleted a size which was named "humongous". Wish you hadn't as it was great for my eyesight. Wasn't it a bit assuming to do that with no notification? Really wish that wasn't done.
We have not removed any sizes. The largest size is Absurd and always has been.
I have to agree with nacunis on this one. It is a hard adjustment for me as well. Perhaps an on / off switch (extra slider) for those of us that preferred the the older icon / tile look could be added?
I beg to differ as "Humongous" was in a previous release. In any case, moving on, you consider adding the next larger size? It could be called "For Visually Impaired"

I have double checked with 1.11 and there never was a humongous size. Absurd really has been the largest we have offered.
What has changed is the tile thing I mentioned before.
It is possible to revert back to the old way by adding a REG_SZ registry key called UsePre1.2Win11TileMode with a value of 1 here : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8

Well Neil, you made my day by just trying. I apparently added it wrong. So it isn't working for me but I do appreciate the effort. I'll just use my alternative start menu which I can see easier. What a shame that original code couldn't have the non-cosmetic text fixed. The functionality is critical.
I got it to work. I misinterpreted on first try. I can see Start 11 like it was before. Thank you so much!

I agree. I have been playing around with start 11 using this method and am really liking the look a lot. Without caption you get really big icons, but with captions you get slightly bigger icons then before and the captions remain separated unlike in previous versions.
I understand why this is not the default start 11 look. For it to look right every icon pinned needs a custom image attached to it so there is a time commitment there. But for anyone that is ok with a more advanced customization on window's 11 theme, this method could provide some additional support.
