Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 a better product.
I would argue that if you want to use any beta software for any product you should leave feedback to the developers of that product and aim to make it better.
Things like broken transparency and texture should be brought to their attentions as well.
We all know Microsoft could use some feedback that they hopefully will listen to.
Now with the ability to have separated folders etc. in the taskbar, can you bring back the possibility that with a right click, there is a menu item to just close the chosen folder? Right now all it has is "close all windows on this display" - which I don't wat.
Thanks!
Am I supposed to be able to do anything with these taskbar icons? I'd like to remove them or at least able to click on them. Currently, hovering over them does nothing and there is no right-click menu for them either.
They should work as normal.
Which version of Windows are you using and are you using a mouse, touchpad, pen or touch to interact with them?
Also what scaling factor is your monitor set to?
I have found a few things in the w11 start menu:
When I set hide icon text, the default windows icons are set to small.
When i have hide icon text off, and have combined several shortcuts into a folder, setting static images after like 3 or 4 icons start11 restarts for every icon that is changed after that.
My windows scale is set to 200%.
The location in c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ is not updating for me.
if i delete a shortcut, it says it is missing, even after 10 minutes and a reboot.
creating folders and dragging icons does not refresh the folder preview of icons. it just shows the very first icon instead of the first few.
Also i see taskbar transparency is disabled now for windows 11 dev. It was working fine before, can you please enable it again ?
hope this helps.
Reposting in every release thread until it's addressed. Why can't we drag an icon from the Start11 menu to the desktop?
I read in another post I think it might be in this one that the new start 11 built the task bar from the ground up. Does that mean it's a total replacement?
I'd like to see is under adjust menu transparency it only goes down to 11% I'd like to see you go down further also the menu is frosted I would like to see it actually clear glass like the task bar itself.
Of course would like to see a way to disable balloon help but I don't think that's part of the taskbar but part of Windows.
Peace
When using the Windows 11 style menu opening the menu will show the default size until the animation is complete and then resize to w/e custom size you may have
Reproduce:
1. Resize the menu Horizontally to a new width.
2. Click the start button to open the menu.
As the menu is animating it uses the default size and then resizes to the user set size after animation.
1.19 is broken. Microsoft taskbar icons (search, desktop, weather) do not work as well as system items (right side - network, sound volume/select device, date time/notifications) do not work. No clicks left/right work, they are just sitting pretty.
when you right click on time/date, submenu appear but you cant click on it.
Which version of Windows 11 are you using?
Also are you using a mouse, touch, pen or a touchpad?
My laptop is running Windows 10 Pro 21H2 build 19044.1620
Display resolution is 1326 x 768 (Recommended)
The taskbar is centre aligned
The issue is with the search popup. The right hand side gets slight cropped and for no reason I can find. I have 3 variations of it.
1. Correct view
2. Cropped (with missing X)
3. Cropped again
Taskbar transparency stopped working properly on later dev channel builds. As such it is disabled for now.
Please remember we offer no official support for beta/dev channel versions of Windows.
If you pinned an item to the start menu and later deleted the target then the pin may remain. The same as if you made a shortcut on the desktop and removed the target.
The all apps list should not continue to show it however as that shows exactly what the OS knows about.
Win11 21H2 (Build 22000.593) Desktop machine
Using mouse... tried with wacom pen now too, there is no click function working right or left. It seems to be all microsoft items. The pen tool that appears doesn't work either, language select, network or sound. Other items in the right side (3rd party) seem fine.
side note all was working great in 1.18.
By the looks of it the issue is it went off the side of the screen.
As a workaround I would pin a few more apps which will shift the search button further left.
What scaling factor is your monitor set to and how many monitors do you have attached?
100% and two monitors. Taskbar set to bottom on both.
Is the primary/main monitor on the right of the secondary?
Is your taskbar at the top of the screen?
Drag and drop from the menu to the desktop is not a feature of Start11.
As an alternative we are considering adding create shortcut on desktop to the right click menu instead.
Yes primary on right, and secondar on left.
That's good as I think I know what's going on.
Will get it checked into tomorrow, thanks for your bug report.
I'm on Windows 11, standard mouse user. I've got 4 monitors, my main monitor is 4K and at 100% scale, and my other 3 are 125% scaling. One of them is a 2K monitor, the other 2 are standard resolutions.
I ended up un-installing the beta since I was having too many issues. I'll try again once it's a bit more polished.
Sounds a lot like I am seeing. Can't click on search, desktop switcher, network, sound, clock icons. No right click, no left click.
Version 1.19
Windows 11 21H2 22000.593
Two monitors, primary on right. Start11 is enhancing the taskbar. Taskbar on bottom.
It looks like primary to the right of the secondary monitor is triggering a problem.
We will be working on fixing this for the next update.
