Start11 v1.2 Beta is Now AvailableLearn more about Start11 at www.stardock.com
Stardock released v1.2 beta of Start11™ today. Start11 is a program that allows users to customize the Windows® Start menu and taskbar for Windows 10 and 11 and can make the Start menu appear as it did in previous versions of Windows, enhancing the experience with new features and functionality.
Start11 v1.2 beta focuses specifically on enhancing the Windows 11 experience by re-building the taskbar from the ground up to add new functionality. With this release, users will be able to ungroup items on their taskbar with their windows centered or left-aligned.
“The new taskbar features are designed to deliver functionality from previous versions of Windows but make them look and feel native to Windows 11,” said Brad Sams, VP and General Manager of Stardock Software. “With our new taskbar experience, we have created a foundation for bringing additional functionality to Windows 11 to further our mission to make Windows more personal and productive.”
The enhanced multi-monitor support in the v1.2 beta allows the user to define window grouping for primary and secondary monitors so that the user can dial-in the perfect taskbar experience. Users will also be able to re-size the taskbar, allowing them to increase its height to make it easier to see all the windows on their taskbar.
To download the beta, you can login to your Stardock account, where the beta is available in the software section.

I ended up using another Start replacement that fixed my major issues which were:
Please implement these into your next build so I can come back to Stardock!
Im logged in and still cant find the beta?
Never mind. Found it.
I ended up at another solution as well, but if you could implement adding toolbars like Windows used to allow for, I 'd come back. Adding recent docs to a right click of an item in the toolbar would make it even better.
Installed the Start11 beta and it wiped out my previous Start11 settings (transparency, size, etc.) and could not get them back. Uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled non-beta and now NO SETTINGS work. How do I fix this shitshow?
Did you uninstall the previous version of Start11 before installing the beta? I ask as the only way for settings to be lost should be for you to uninstall Start11 and pick the option to delete your user settings too.
With regards to it not working with the non beta, I would suspect the product is not starting up. The most likely explanation for that would be an antivirus blocking the service install but it may be better posting in the support forum for someone from support to provide direct assistance.
Just an interesting note: When I first launched MS Outlook from the taskbar the icon shifted to the right about 1/4 of the icon space! When I clicked on the Outlook taskbar icon twice (hid and then unhid outlook) the icon centered itself on the taskbar properly.
Just installed the beta. This is so great! I'm on W11 and LOVE having my separate, not-combined taskbar items back!!!!
Installed over the previous version...and don't remember if it asked to delete settings
Is there a way to go back to the non beta? it is having many issues on my computer. The issues I had were the taskbar would cut off the time and date, after closing a game using Nvidia DLSS the taskbar would be about 6 centimeters below the top (I have it placed at the top) the weather icon (the windows widgets application) would be half cut off.
You can download the non beta from your account.
Please do make sure to report the issues you had if you have not so we can investigate.
Can you also add an option to never group but also never show labels? Even programs with just one window are now showing labels.
Because of all the labels It looks messy, not all programs fit on the taskbar and I cannot use my muscle memory because programs move a substantial amount to the left or tight when labels are shown/hidden.
Ungrouped icons-only is all I need. Please add this.
Feature request: Restoring the taskbar jumplist from Windows 7/8, the immersive jumplist are too big(not sure if thats the right word but i'm sure you know what I mean.) The jumplist were more theme/skin friendly and compact.
Hi
At last, not combining apps! 2 things:
1. Can we get an option to not combine the apps, but not show the text - show icons only? This really fills up the task bar
2. Bug.I have many icons pinned to the taskbar, but when a few apps are open now, Start11 hides them, even of the app is open and being used.
Apps hidden - only see some of them
Closed 2 apps - now see all the apps I have pinned to my taskbar even the ones that are open. I should be able to access them all
Installed the beta because I'm super excited about not combing taskbar buttons.
Problem though. When I enabled taskbar enhancements, it wanted me to restart explorer, so I did using your restart-explorer button. That left me with a completely blank white screen. I had to reboot to get things working again. Everything seems fine now, and best of all taskbar buttons are not combined. Hurray!
So it would seem from the above posts that we should uninstall our non beta start 11 first, and then install the beta - is that correct?
Does it bring back "drop to open" functionality (when you drag the file to taskbar program for it to open, like graphical file drag to Photoshop to open it)? This is crucial.
Can i ask, i using Start 10 from year 2016. And i appreciated czech localization, Do you plan same on Start 11? I havent problem pay some bonus money for it..
So now I have this...transparent in the middle but the start button on the left (with a background) and non-transparent background on the right.
this...transparent in the middle but the start button on the left (with a background) and non-transparent background on the right.
I am afraid thats a side effect of the experimental version of Windows you are using.
Well, crap
You can force a background colour on the taskbar to mitigate it.
Yes. That's working here.
However not flawlessly. Sometimes the icons on the task bar disappear and Explorer restarts automatically.
Also the tooltip is confusing, saying 'Pin to Taskbar'.
Other than that it's working.
Nah, not going to fuck with it as I just got the transparency working again. I'll take 80% transparent over 0% and learn my lesson about installing beta stuff over working stuff
I am curious to know why you are using a dev build of Windows (alpha at best) given those break like every week in some way or another?
I have 3 computers; a MacBook pro and two Windows lappy's. The Windows machines run Dev and Beta. My Dev machine is plugged into the same monitor as my Mac (Samsung 49" curved monster) and the Beta laptop is in the living room. My biz is somewhat connected to whatever MSFT comes out for consumers so I play around a lot. I might rebuild this machine 3-4 times a month.
