I use Multiplicy KVM to play EverQuest on multiple computers, and with the recent EQ upgrade to 64-bit servers, Multiplicity is "broken" now. Keyboard works fine, but if I use the mouse to move (right click) or look around (left click), it duplicates that action on all other connected computers. This was happening on the Test server several weeks ago, and is now happening on the Live server after today's patch/update. I'm not the only person having this issue.
Update: If EQ has indeed prevented Multiplicity from functioning properly, there is nothing we can do about it.
Update: The changes for EQ were incorporated into Multiplicity 3.60

Hello,
I have forwarded your report to the Stardock support team for their review and recommendations.
Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates.
We really do appreciate your feedback, thanks.
So the servers were 32 bit before?
Correct, Everquest servers were 32-bit. The Test server was updated to 64-bit on 1/19/2022 and people were experiencing Multiplicity issues then. Live servers updated to 64-bit today (2/15/2022). The servers came up briefly, those of us that were able to log and and use Multiplicity experienced the issue described, then the servers came back down again.
Seconding this issue. I personally know lots of avid Everquest and multiplicity users (Who happily pay for it as its the only reliable KVM). This bug is completely game breaking and we'll all be frantically searching for an alternative if Multiplicity cannot fix it pretty quickly. To clarify, its the eqgame.exe client executable which is now a 64 bit process (it was 32 bit for years as the game is 20-odd years old!).I have tried running the eqgame.exe process in compatibility modes but it does not appear to help.
Here's something which might help your dev team investigate the issue:I have just been testing with Barrier (https://github.com/debauchee/barrier) to try and find a working KVM for EverQuest.Interestingly Barrier doesn't reproduce the same issue UNLESS I choose the 'Don't take foreground window on windows server' advanced option (When this option is selected, we see the same issue with mouse mirroring between client & server). Hopefully that helps pin down where the issue is...
Confirming the issue. Mouse inputs like mouse wheel click, side button clicks, or holding (left/right) mouse buttons to look around get duplicated on primary screen.
I am also having the same issue.
I am confirming this issue on behalf of myself and five friends who also play Everquest. We all use the same Multiplicity version (3.57 Build 00103.kvm) and are encountering the same issues described in this thread (if I use the mouse to move (right click) or look around (left click) on the secondary PC, it duplicates that action on my host PC; this also happens even when I move/click the mouse on the desktop itself). We have not been able to find any fixes, but noticed that it does not happen if you make the game window a little smaller on the host, then left click on the desktop on the host before swapping screens to the secondary PC (Dirextx is possibly not releasing focus)?
Confirming the issue for myself (I have a 16 seat license) and everyone in my guild. I read through the ~700 line eqclient.ini and the only option that looked relevant was an "AlwaysOnTop". I tried disabling that with no effect. The window still remains in focus when the cursor goes off to another screen, and then the duplicate mouse inputs happen still. If EverQuest is in windowed mode and smaller than the screen size, and you click the desktop on the host machine first to de-focus EQ, then change screens.. the mouse input duplication does not happen.
hello, fellow Everquesters: Hopefully Stardock can fix this problem, but in the meantime I have found this freeware which solved the issue for me.
The download website has a full explanation
https://joelpurra.com/projects/X-Mouse_Controls/Good luck with it!
Adding to confirm I am also having issues as of the 64-bit update. Mouse clicks duplicate from all client hosts to the primary host. Multiple members I play with confirmed this issue last night. Also confirming this only happens when the EverQuest window is the active window on the Primary machine. If it is minimized the issue does not occur. PIDs do not match across machines.
Also, confirming this issue. With the new 64bit client. Where the primary machine receives mouse commands when issued from the secondary machine.
Will the settings revert to default after you remove the X-Mouse Control?
It says on the download page 'Uninstallation is easy — just delete the X-Mouse Control files. Optionally run the program to turn off active window tracking first, as the settings are persisted.'
So it seems like the best simple workaround is to use X-Mouse control on you main (server) machine. From initial testing this appears to work almost perfectly (Ensure you select 'Activate window tracking' and choose a low delay (50-100 ms)). This works simply by deactivating the EQ window immediately as your mouse exits the game on your main server machine.
In terms of a more permanent fix, I think we'd need the Stardock developers to download and install EverQuest (It's a free download, and free game to play! They might even enjoy it ). Only they will then be able to debug to a sufficient detail to explain why the mouse inputs are received on both the clients and server machine. The problem didn't use to occur (until EverQuest recompiled their executable to be 64-bit), and other KVMs such as Barrier are not susceptible to it - so it's certainly something that Stardock can fix with sufficient desire and effort.
I have same issue going on mouse clicks impact all monitors that I have everquest running
Same issue for me too, there is a lot of us out there that are using this for Everquest and have been for years now. The workaround with X-mouse controls is functioning perfectly for me right now though, thanks for that!
Is this going to be addressed? I was going to upgrade my plan, but now I won't if I need to download something like X-mouse. What is Barrier that someone mentioned? Does that KVM have these issues?
ya same issue....hopefully a fix soon
Same issue here.
Confirming that the issue still exists even after basic troubleshooting (restarted multiplicity several times). The X-mouse program above works as a short-term fix, but causes other issues that impact other games. I'm really hoping Stardock will look into a fix soon!
The issue here is with the change from 32 to 64 bit.
Multiplicity has a workaround for some games to stop them doing this which dates from a time when pretty much every game was 32 bit. This workaround does not impact 64 bit processes and the new everquest is 64 bit.
As you have seen an alternative solution is to take focus away from everything on the primary when controlling another computer, but this has its own set of consequences, especially for fullscreen exclusive games.
We are looking into the right solution and will update this thread once we have a plan in place.
Same issue here. The work around seems to work for playing but my second monitor on my main computer now flashes every few seconds. Is this happening to anyone else or does anyone have any suggestions to fix it? I can now effectively box EQ but I might suffer a seizure.
Thank you. What is the ETA on a fix?
Hi all, I'm also experiencing this exact issue. Adding a reply to wait on the reply for a fix.
