Can we please turn the grid back on at ALL zoom levels?
Without having to go in and manually tinker with files.
Pretend I'm computer dumb (because I am) and don't like doing that.
Why do you guys hate letting the players see the map clearly and adjust it to their preferences?
Happy Wednesday.
Seconded, this was a truly odd move. A lot of times, I'm carefully counting moves and ranges such as with station constructors so I can build in the best place possible within that turn.
I agree--give us back the old grid that is visible up close as well as farther out. Often I want to know the exact number of hexes to a target, or to flee a foe, or stay out a foe's sensor range, or setting up a starbase--the grid makes counting easy. And with my older eyes I often zoom in a bit to see better, even on my larger display, and then I loose the grid in .77A. So please restore the grid to how it was. Thanks!
The differences between .77a and .77b are negligible. OK being able to settle aquatic worlds is nice (naturally there are none in my starting sector this game after having two last game) but other than that I barely notice the difference. Let's hope that .77c or .78 are more meaningful.
Well I did discover that there's a move counter hotkey but it's unlisted in the input options, I found it in the game files.Just hold the ctrl key while mousing over a blank tile and it should tell you the moves and turns it takes to move the selected fleet to that particular tile.
Ditto, it's very annoying having to zoom out to the right spot to see the grid. And even with my reading glasses on, and a 40 inch screen, it's hard to see the detail I want.
I made a mod that has the grid show at maximum zoom in and vanish before maximum zoom out. I also made the grid a little brighter. When zoomed out enough, the galaxy image was much too bright for me, so I made it dimmer. The mod is designed to work with the current version of 0.77b. By current, I mean the version that was released Thursday afternoon. It will work with a saved game, but it may not work best if the game was started before the update on Thursday afternoon. The mod is available here.
We are hearing you loud and clear. Internal discussions ongoing.
Thank you for sharing this.Grid/Icons: I really think that the zoom levels we can adjust at options are implemented in the wrong way - in the meaning of a bug. It would be so nice to define the point of appearence of icons and not the point of disappearence. Best would be to be able to define both (...) but if we can only define one then it would be much more useful to define the point of appearence.
I played with Old-Spiders mod (thank you). I like some icons at a closer zoom and others not. So I would define different zoom levels for ships & anomalies on one side and planets & relics on the other side (as example).
