Further question, what animations are jerky?
Are you able to get a video of this and post it?
I just got a new update. The animation is smooth now and also the other things I mentioned seems to be ok now.
Only my request remains.
Keep up the great work!!!
BTW CPU use is round 2%
This issue is now fully resolved, good job on the quick scramble to patch this up!
V0.94
- Start menu opens a lot smoother
- System tray icons not disappearing now
One more problem I noticed with the last few updates, with "use Start11 search" turned off I have this problem where it opens the start menu and the search menu at the same time https://streamable.com/gyucxy works fine with it turned on, also tried it with a Windows 11 [Dev] VM but it works fine there https://streamable.com/ul5jta

I have a similar issue, but my pinned bar doesn't show up at all at first until I mouse over the menu. I have had this issue on every version of Start11.
I just updated to .93 and rebooted. I have my start menu, etc set to appear on the lower left of my task bar. Upon logging in, this is what my taskbar looked like on my primary desktop:
(Note the lack of a start button, and the tray being in the far-left corner.)
Running Win 11 build 22000.282. I have four monitors, with the taskbar on monitors 2-4 performing as expected.
Changing the Start11 setting to center the taskbar does not resolve the misplaced tray:
Using latest build of Windows 11 and Start11
In Windows 10 mode when using full-screen, you can't get your apps to the top, there's one row of unused space. (Picture 1)
When not in full-screen mode you can use the top row. (Picture 2)
Can this be fixed?
See pics please:
I uninstalled software, rebooted system, reinstalled software. It works partly, but sort for Chinese name folder is still not working. Does the sorting code consider folder in CJK character?
"Photo (照片)" is correctly sorted to "Z"
When having the taskbar on the left side of the screen and clicking half way on the icons the start menu will open instead of the programStart 11 version 0.94

Updated start11 to version 0.94 and it works better, but there is still an issue with the start button.
Host: Windows 11 Home
Menu style: Windows 10
Open the start menu and open a program, e.g. start11 settings. Now try to open the start menu again. You need to click on the start button 3 times before the start menu opens.
I have exactly the same issue as dctrbnsttr in that when first installed all icons move to the centre of all 3 monitors. However after a reboot my main centre monitor will only left align no matter what I do, the 2 side monitors stay centred as expected. This has been the case on all versions of Start 11.
If I use taskbarX and disable the function on Start 11 it all works all the time (yes I remove taskbar X before doing the same function on Start 11 with a restart inbetween). No other taskbar modification tools loaded except other object desktop apps (Curtains, CursorFX, etc..)
Win 10 Pro version 19043.1288
I'm on v0.94, Windows 11 v22000.282
When using the Windows 11 Start menu style, the shortcuts list icons are offset from the power button icon:
EDIT: I fixed this by resetting the config settings, have not been able to replicate it again.
Thanks for fixing switching apps from taskbar with touch.
However, 2 touch issues remain:
-Show Win+X menu when right clicking Start button does not work with touch. In fact, holding touch on Start button just opens Start11.
-Show classic taskbar menu does not work with touch either. The standard Win11 menu shows (with its single lonely item).
Now a request for the Win11 style menu: on the all apps list the back button should always be visible at top regardless of where the list has been scrolled to. See screenshots to better understand. First screenshot shows original Windows 11 Start Menu, where I've scrolled to the A's and the back button is still visible. The second screenshot shows Start11 behavior, where back button has scrolled off view. This isn't that big of a deal with a mouse with side button as that works but on touch it means potentially having to scroll a lot to go back to pinned items.
Another request, for the Win10 style menu, when in fullscreen mode the all apps list just uses a small space on the left. It'd be nice if the all apps was grid style on fullscreen just like it is on Windows 10.
Please make these contextmenu's (they are very small)
Like this. The one you get when right clicking the start menu.
Have you attempted to use anything which suggested it might return the windows 10 style taskbar to Windows 11 (probably showing text on the taskbar / uncombine groups)? Possibly a registry key change or third party utility.
No. However, the glitch seems to have cleared itself up without any particular act on my side.
V 0.94 seems to have fixed the problem with taskbar corner/system tray icons disappearing for me. Thanks!
Hi all,
There seems to be a bug in the application. A very annoying one.
The menu (as in pic below) keeps floating away from the taskbar after the first or second, etc, use. Rebooting will out it back in place but having to do this many times a day is also time consuming. Are ye aware of this issue? I hope you can find a fix for it soon as it's absolutely driving me up the walls. I have tried altering every possible setting in the Start11 configuration setup sections, to no solution avail. It's installed on a powerful i7 laptop and it has no other issues with software or display matters.
That is curious and you are the only report of anything like this.
Does it also happen if you set the menu style to Win10 or 11 look?
Menu style to 10 style. Yes, very odd.
Tried the Win 11 style, Win7 style and the "Modern Style". Same thing happens. Two examples below. Have to reboot again.
Are you running anything that might reposition windows or save positions?
Hi,
Windows 10 theme
Groups are still fussy to move around although better. It seems that more options to fine tune were added but the effects of these were not always clear. After much trial and error, I managed to get what I needed but as I said, groups can still be a problem to move around. Thankfully, I don't need to do it often.
The big thing is that the start menu doesn't always come up until clicked a few times. Unlike another user reported, it makes no difference if a program is loaded or not...at least not for me. I have nine groups with a total of about 80 icons made up of medium and small sizes. It can also take quite a few moments for the icons to populate the screen.
I have a Surface Pro 2017 8GB/128GB
Only have Stardock Fences 4 installed - but disabled those and rebooted to see would be make a difference without it running. No joy.
There are two ways I can imitate to start button floating upwards but I did not report it because it seemed so minor and didn't really bother me.
1. Going crazy resizing the the layout and holding left click in place
2. Using "make menu font bigger or smaller" adjusted to "107%" and then holding the left mouse click at the right corner. (strangely this is only an issue at 107% so I can simply just not use this size to fix the problem)
These issues for me go away once the start menu is closed out and the start menu button repositions into place on the next start up
It sounds like somehow the left click is held into place for Jeff even when he is not pressing it?
The improvements are excellent so far. One small feature request: When using the Windows 10 style menu, I'd like to be able to grab a tile and still be able to scroll the menu while holding that tile. Currently I have to drop the tile into some visible part of the menu, scroll, grab it again, drop it, scroll again, hop-scotching across the entire menu. My guess is that most people simply create a big enough menu to that you don't have to scroll, but I do prefer to keep the whole menu as compact as I can. Just one three-tile wide column with nice big tiles arranged in groups. Is that feasible?
