So my favourite feature from windows has been removed.
The option to NOT "Combine Taskbar Buttons" for the Start Bar.
Does Start 11 allow me to have this function back?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure about that. But, I have forward your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We really do appreciate your feedback, Thanks

Basj,
I'm not having issues, I haven't even purchased the software.
I'm a potential customer of the software but I need to know if your software will have this feature before I purchase it...
I can't answer you that. I can only forward your request to Support and Dev Team, they will review and decide on it. You can hold your purchase until the final version release.
Thank you,

I just tried the trial, it unfortunately it does not have this feature, nor the ability to display labels. I feel crippled in my Windows usage without these features, my taskbar needs to look like this:
StartAllBack can do both show taskbar labels and disable combining, but StartAllBack and Start11 do not behave well together. It appears that Start11 wants to take over the taskbar no matter what, while StartAllBack has the option to not touch the taskbar. And I only want Start11 for the start menu since it is missing these features. So if I had to choose between the two: StartAllBack or Start11, or rather Windows 10 style Taskbar or Start Menu, StartAllBack is currently winning for me. It's a shame they do not work together.
Start11 needs at least one of two things to be viable:
- The two features mentioned above: do not combine programs/display program labels.
- Or, an option to NOT touch the taskbar. Currently it forces its own taskbar settings, making the two programs not work together.
If Start11 had these features, it would be an insta-buy. But for now.. it doesn't meet my needs. The Windows 10 Start Menu is a nice feature, but having a usable taskbar is a necessity.
I've been using Start11 alongside the open source "Explorer Patcher" with great success, they work great together, take it a shot.

Looks good! Thanks for the heads up. This looks like it could potentially make Start11 a viable option.
Update: They do work well together, this is exactly what I was wanting. Thanks for the heads up, and thanks to Stardock for the program. Definitely worth the purchase now.
Thanks a lot @febag , I didn't think it was even possible!
I really also need NOT "Combine Taskbar Buttons" !!!
Thank you @febag! I think this is going to fix my Productivity rather than hunting for the Window I want!!
Would love this feature. I'm planning to upgrade to Windows 11 in Jan/Feb after bugs are ironed out some more. But I absolutely refuse to upgrade without having "Never combine" re-added to the taskbar.
It's a good possibility that the feature to (never combine) and (show labels) will never be added back in an official capacity, fortunately there are now a few 3rd party programs that can bring it back. StartAllBack is decent, but I can no longer suggest it especially with the $5 price tag.
ExplorerPatcher can do pretty much everything StartAllBack can do, and what it can't do, Start11 has you covered which is worth the $5 price tag (IMO). I do think that currently Start11 + ExplorerPatcher is the best possible combination, and I am hoping they continue to work together in the future. If Start11 starts to add similar functionality as ExplorerPatcher, I fear they will eventually conflict with each other.
While it would be nice to have everything in a single program, ExplorerPatcher has a ton of functionality that may be beyond the scope of Start11. When the two are combined, it's possible to restore everything that is missing from Windows 11 that was found in Windows 10, with even more customizable options and additional functionality. Currently the only thing I'm missing is live tiles from the Start menu (for apps like Weather), and I am not sure whether or not Start11 will have those in the future.
So right now I'm pretty happy with Windows 11. But I am not without concerns, as who knows what the future will bring. We have to worry about future Windows updates breaking either Start11 or ExplorerPatcher, and then deal with missing functionality while waiting for an update for either. Then there's the possibility that future updates of either program will break compatibility with each other. It's a shame that Microsoft is so stubborn that any of this is a concern in the first place.
Explorerpatcher does not appear to work with windows 11 version 22000.828
There is a fix for the latest stable (282) version here: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/issues/129
I hope someone make a paid version of this, so we can set it and forget it, but still great peace of software so far
Yep that one is working. Not a bad find febag. Essentially all this does is bring windows 10 taskbar to windows 11. So when running start 11 it would function exactly as it does on windows 10.
I am still not against the idea of start 11 adding in never combine function to their windows 11 taskbar build however
