Shame on you. You spoiled me rotten. I'm so dependent on Groupy that now that I'm down I can't work.
I have been using Groupy, flawlessly, for months. Not even a hint of an issue. So what did I do today, started messing around with the setting of both Windows and Groupy. Now I can't group my windows together. I reinstalled, no help.
Settings: MineOnly group windows when Shift is held down, groupy setting. (Unrelated question-How long should it help down, till windows are totally combined?)
My thought is that is all I need to be able to combine windows. All other settings should have no effect on my problem. Should have left well enough alone? Will I ever learn?!
Get me back on the right track, please.
Bob
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#reinstalling. Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Thanks for the fast help. All worked well, following your instructions.
My issue started when I thought I was having issues with combining my different windows. Note that I said though I will explain shortly.
mySystemNVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MScreen Resolution 1920x1080Memory 16GBWindows 10 Pro 64bit, 10.0.1904 to Build 19042Asus G75VW PortableGroupy 1.49.1Chrome 92.0.4515.159Fence 3.1.3.3Directory Opus 12.24 64 bitNuance Dragon 15.61Microsoft OneNote 365DisplayFusion Pro 9.8SnagIt 2021.4.3 64bit
All the above are installed and used daily with StarDock - Groupy & Fence.
Now for the cure to the issue, I was having.
1. Download the most recent version of Groupy.2. Download GroupyPurge http://sd.stardock.com/Support/uploads/groupyPurge.zip3. Place GroupyPurge on desktop.4. Left-Click GroupPurge. StarDock instructions call for a right-click and then use Run as Administrator. I did not have a Run as Administrator when I did the right-click so I did the left click with success. After it ran I did a reboot and all was successful.
As I mentioned above I'm not sure that I really had an issue. I was playing around with the settings in Groupy and then my problem began. But I believe what actually happened, I changed the delay settings for placing a window. I can now automatically group my primary program called Directory Opus. Before I had to manually place Opus into a group. My group consists of four windows, Microsoft-OneNote, Nuance-Dragon, Chrome, and Directory Opus.
mySettingVisualsPosition the Tabs - Combine if PossibleYes-Only show a close button on the active tabNo-Show a close icon on tabsNo-Tab bar should extend to full window width.
SettingsYes-Always group windows when moved on top of each otherYes-Instantly group windowsYes-Enable hotkeys to switch between tabs in the group (A middle-click on a tab should do nothing)
Applications Groupingdopus.exe (I entered in Automatic Group Box) Used in conjunction with Directory Opus. I did not use this before. This addition might be the reason why Opus is now loading with Groupy without any issues.
AdvancedYes-Open new blank document in Word/Excel rather than recent documents (I never use it)
I list all this information to help you understand that Groupy works with just about anything. When combined with he rest of my system any-any information is instantly in front of my eyes, and by voice.Example: I Say Today (The above Groupy I saved at the end of yesterday is in front of me.I Say OneNote Shortcut - I'm looking right at my Shorcuts for OneNote.
Groupy gives me the ability to mix and match my different programs in one convenient tabbed group just by Saying Open ??? it's right in front of me. Combining it with StarDock-Fences organizes it with a DeskTop Folder and as a DeskTop item, I can open it with a verbal command. Groupy where have you been for the last 30 years? All for now and back to work.Have a great day
