Hello,
I use the folder portals and it works well. But I have a problem. Is it possible that I can set the view of the folders for all folders? At the moment I have to repeat this setting for each folder and subfolders.Thank you very much and have a nice Saturday.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe, currently, there is no such option in Fences, but few feature request have been made for it and have been forward to Support for their review and recommendation.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
@basj I just downloaded Fences trial version and my first impression is that it's a terrific way of organizing desktop. It has also a lot of potential for creating workspaces on the desktop.
Fences appears to be the only tool with a "Details" view on folder contents. It would be very convenient to have this capability also on regular desktop fences, as in my work a lot of file names add "date-topic" before the interesting part of the file name.
While exploring the Folder Portal I immediately ran into having to set this view manually for each subfolder in it. This is really a pain. It would be really convenient if one could set a default view for a folder portal, both per fence and as general Fences setting for new fences.
I expect implementing this will be a minor effort and to be honest I am a bit shocked that an RSI preventing capability that is longed for by many for at least 2 years now has not made it to release already.
Small effort, great joy - aka, low hanging fruit!
Can you please see to this and similar requests?
Regards,Gerco
Hello,I believe the request is known to the Support and Dev team, but I can't says if or when it will be implemented. Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate it.

Hi there
I have read many blog entries before making this specific entry but you guys won't get tired saying this and that is already addressed to the development team. Not only month ago like in this post but also years ago. No improvement since then in what would be a minor issue for the development but big pain for End User. (I know what I am talking about).
But this issue (and it is not the only one) is a real pain: to set the same view manually for each subfolder!!!! I really urge you to change this as it is done by your developer in no time and helps that much.
If you don't do that fast at least tell me/us where (config. File, backup file or more likely registry) we/I can set up the views being applied to all subfolders of a (specific) portal folder window as workaround (for now) by ourself / myself!
Best regards and please dont apologize that you feel sorry for me/us having this trouble and don't tell us/ me the developer team might know it already. Just fix it!
best regards
Is development dead?
Then I hope that in their last breath they shared the repo so the community can keep it alive.
Development on Fences is still going strong. Stardock is currently testing V3.1. But, I do not know if this request will be implemented.
Thank you,

Hey!
Well, this is my third attempt at using Fences since I bought it years ago. Unfortunately, I kept uninstalling it at some point because I was missing some important functions and it was unwieldy or the software got stuck with other programs. Now with Fences 4 and Windows 11 years later I still encounter such small problems as the global default for the "Detail" view in the Folder Portals. For the Windows Explorer, this can also be adopted under the options "for all folders of the same type". What's the point of the icons on a file system with hundreds of characters in the file name. A lot has accumulated over the years. Also on know-how files in many structured folders, which I then have to switch to detailed view manually when dialing through. Do that for a few thousand folders. The program would have potential, but it probably only remains an application for a few target portals and fences on the desktop...
