Today we are making a beta available for DeskScapes - version 10.02.
Initial testing has shown that it fixes the following:
Clients with Stardock accounts can get the beta from your account page:

Please uninstall the DS10 version you have now, reboot, and install the beta.

above 10.02b if not try that version and report back.

i did download beta version and then i got the issues with mpeg-2-video-extension/no codec detected. i guess something got damaged because just few days ago i managed to open all the dreams and now i do not have mpeg2 decoder...anyway i could not get from microsoft mpeg-2-video-extension i could not get to the store on my laptop as that part is missing on my laptop and microsoft is telling me that i have it. i downloaded some codec packs and screwed up my google chrome but edge starting to show the movies. now i can open some of the dreams if you are interested i could write you the names, but some of them are blurry at the bottom. if you could get me the link to bypass microsoft store to get mpeg-2-video-extension i would appreciate it. i did not play codecs pack for a while ,i have blue ray dvd player and daum potplayer so it was not a problem until today...

DS10 /10.02/10.02b and Windows Home 1809 and 1903..267 ALL WORK Fine on my ( desktop ) PC
I have been using making and uploading dreams for 12 years ( over 3000 ) and in all that time ALL the
versions of Windows and Deskscapes have worked for me . I have used and still using KLite Codec pks.
Running Windows 1903 ..267 now and all is working as it should , including Mpeg 2 dreams.
I run a single monitor at 1920x1080 res. Ram 12 Gigs.

I did the same, added all those exceptions
The only dream that will show is 'sunny palms' the rest say no decoder and a blank preview screen.

i managed to restore microsoft store and it says i have mpeg-2 extension on my computer. i am so sorry what is happening to your software. i really enjoyed for so many years and in 2 weeks when i am back i will see what is happening on my other computers and let you know. i am sure you eventually will figure it out.
yeah, got the MicroSh!+ mpeg-2 download as well.
Yeah the only reason ive got an animated background is i D/L DS8
as you see in my post I got a pretty high end graphic card and i got the mpeg2 ext

for some odd reason 'digital sunny palms beach' will load in the preview AND on the desktop, all the others 'no suitable decoder' and even this dream stops working almost immediately (goes static instead of the ani/vid.
Same for me nothing what you suggested is working and I give up. It seems that all of us are having the same problem. I don’t understand why to go through all these steps when it is not a new installation, the software was working. Is there are a possibility that one of azdude dreams got a virus because that happened when I was downloading quite few of his dreams. I really liked his dream and in the middle of the downloads and me checking them software crushed.

You should run a complete virus scan if you think that's an issue , if you have a virus it won't be from one of my dreams .
They all play fine on my machine .
BTW - Which dream do you seem to have a problem with get me the link and Ill test it for you .
Also you might want to try this .
Please try the following:
-For Win8/10 Users: Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below. For Win7 Users: click Start, in the start search field type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator'.-Type: sfc /scannow -Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)
In addition, please also run the following command in the same elevated (Run as Admin) command prompt window:
dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
The above command should assist with replacing any damaged or problematic system files. Please note, however, since it may require restoring certain files, this process can take some time and you will need to be patient until it has completed.

Seeing the same issue here for the last week. Uninstalled, reinstalled, tried purging, manually deleted all dreams, etc. Windows 10 1903 ...267, with an Intel Core I7 processor and Nvidia GTX 980ti. No issues with any other application or any games, only Deskscapes, which worked perfectly for months.
The problems all started just after the 1st of this month, and I have tried every suggestion in this thread. Installing K-Lite Codec Pack actually seemed to create more issues so I went back to CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack). When trying the 10.02 beta I then get the no codec error, and yes I tried the updated 10.02b linked in this thread as well.
I am currently able to use Deskscapes by reverting to version 8.51 which works flawlessly, but does seem to be using a couple percent of my CPU while running compared to version 10. There is definitely something weird that happened just after the first of this month, but I have been unable to locate the source from my end.
