Greetings!
We hope you're having an awesome time adventuring throughout the sector. We wanted to give you an update of some of the enhancements we are making based on your feedback.
1. Visited Stars dimming - This will be going back in today. At a glance you'll be able to tell which stars you visited.
2. Enhanced Captain's Log - The CL display will be getting a minimap so that you can click on a star and it will show you where that destination is before you go into auto pilot. Same for the Objectives screen. This will all be part of a QOL update for v1.2 which will include lots of other touches that we think you'll like.
3. Free DLC1 - The Multiverse DLC will be released as a free DLC. We expect this to be released next week. It will make it fairly easy for people to begin modding the game in earnest and controlling which mods are on and off. We are working on some sample mods to help get the ball rolling. The multiverse is something we'll be continually updating based on your wishlists.
4. Free DLC2 - As we imagine new things, we begin to put them together to continually flesh out the universe. None of this requires starting a new game but the content we'll be releasing is mostly things that will improve replayability and help you build your character through your actions throughout the game.
If you have any QOL (quality of life) updates you'd like to see, chime in here. You're the boss!
I have a whole host I just put up in my first 20 hours impression thread. Didn't notice this when I posted mine! Hope there are more QoL coming, it's needed.
QoL? Selling partial stacks of materials so I can keep a reserve on the off chance I need them for a mission later. And if I understand the DLC and multiverse plans correctly, there's a whole lot of potential laters out there!
yeah - just add sell XX units button or something.
We appreciate the feedback. The selling of partial stacks is definitely on our radar. We'll keep you updated on the QoL improvements coming to the game.
Please also let us store minerals at Star Control, once we upgrade it by spending some RUs. I don't want to carry around an entire rainbow world's worth of purple resources or make a special trip to the rainbow world and try to guess which purple resource glowing thing on the rainbow world is the one I need right now for the quest. It is impossible to tell purple resources apart they all look the same until you collect them, right?
Please let us discard unwanted ressources (if you have cheap ressources and are almost full and stumble upon a treasure planet, you can't just dump the ammonia&co into space right now...)
Any news about the availability of that campaign editor/creator? Can't wait to try it out!
^ This. I forgot to mention that issue. In SC2 you could always dump resources if you found an amazing planet and didn't want to keep any 1 RU resources in your hold any more. Also agree it would be nice to store purple resources at Star Control.
Allowing the player to dump resources removes the cargo hold as one of three factors limiting "loiter time" of the fleet. Fuel, cargo space, and crew are the three things that force you to return to base for re-supply. As far as the cargo hold this forces players to think in terms of "cargo hold density" and makes them want to avoid picking up low value things to begin with. Allowing players to dump cargo just removes the cargo hold as a limiting factor and then only fuel and crew limit loiter/mission time of the fleet. I don't like the idea of allowing the player to dump cargo, it removes more from the game than most realize. In fact, I think the cargo hold is too big as it is and it should only hold 2000 instead of 2500.
Oh you'd be bummed to know that at one point my cargo space was at 6k lol. Francium seems to be the only thing to keep. Rest can be sold.
