Hi,
I've posted about this before but it still hasn't been remedied and it should be very simple to do so.
I understand that people didn't like research or an economic bonus being repeated endlessly on planets because you forget about them but the alternative of one project at a time can become a real pain in the endgame when you have numerous planets with nothing else to do.
In the game I've just finished I was the Iconians so by the endgame about move 140 when I had fifty-ish planets almost all of them were complete and would finish research or an economic bonus in a single move (I didn't have the resources to divert them to making spies or citizens which would have kept them quiet for much longer). So I ended up having to go through say 25 planets a turn scrolling down and choosing randomly from research or money. This was thoroughly tedious and an annoying way to finish a game which is so captivating in the earlier stages.
So please Stardock could we have the option to repeat projects endlessly or at the very least could these two default options be brought to the top of the list so that we don't have to scroll down to reach them.
Many thanks,
Jon
Seconded.
Just build an algorithm that follows the following logic.Project
If upgrades to existing Improvements available >=1
Then stop when finished
Else RepeatElse if Available planet improvement spaces >=1
Then stop when fishished
Else Repeat
Then the AI wouldn't get hung up repeating them forever. People would not start them early and then forget to upgrade.. and at the end of the game when there is nothing else to do they will just repeat.
If you select the project and instead of double clicking on it, click the build project button a hundred times as fast as you can, you can queue the project. Maybe it only works on massive maps when the computer is working slower though. Thats all I play and I can queue them this way. Try it.
A better method would be to select a project and press "U" multiple times, until an option to repeat projects is implemented.
yes, and I already do this, but that is still hundreds of extra button clicks and a tedious process when a simple fix of either improved logic, or like the shipyards a check box to repeat build x
Many thanks Rhonin,
I hadn't realised that you could use the U key and while it's still a slight pain it's immensely better than scrolling and double clicking endlessly though possibly not totally wonderful for the keyboard.
Cheers,
I miss the days when projects lasted an infinite number of turns and took effect immediately without the need to be "built."
Im fine with it as an option that is not on by default, but if it was the default like it was. That had me unnessarily scrolling through a lot of planets for most of my game, because i would turn it on when most of my planets were fully upgraded by my tech level. Remember my empire go through stages in the beginning almost always dont have a lot of resources. The problem with governors is that i dont use them. I prefer to play the game. So either when i research a new tech, or get new resources i either, cant stop producing projects, doesnt really matter what im doing at this point i never produce projects 1 per turn, so some planets may be ready to stop producing next turn, or more likely than not i have to wait turns that are not the same from planet to planet which i having to scroll through all the planets each turn for a few turns. Lets see a bunch of clicks which you dont even have to go through the list it wont let you finish your turn untill your done, or have to do the above every time you get a resource, or research one of several techs, or settle for a gimped empire. Your talking about late game. Im talking for most of my game. Again this would work as an option that you would have to turn on.
Which is why putting in logic that auto stops it if there are any other improvements that can be built would be key.
That was hell (for me at least).
I'm for an option, but Taslios' suggestion is also good.

Making them last forever would solve the problem for me at least. lol
+1 for Taslios suggestion.
I agree.
can I just add that I would like the same repeat options for shipyard missions..
Quoting lyssailcor,
reply 9 I'm for an option, but Taslios' suggestion is also good. I agree.
Me too, this is the most annoying part of the end game. I don't want commonwealths, I want those ship yards.
I don't care if its back to the way it was, repeat, or better logic. But I would also suggest a checkbox to IGNORE idle production. If the list is empty don't nag me every turn. Maybe I don't want to add anything.
Fairly certain that already exists, as I make use of it.
There is only an ignore idle check box for shipyards, and not planets.
How about just enabling planetary options for BOTH repeat project and ignore empty queue's? Do we have hope? we do keep asking, but not sure its hope, more like yelling at the rain. TBH, pretty sure these kind of requests are just as ignored now as they were during paid beta. Accordingly, I would not hold my breath for this ever being acted on.
To many people don't want to see that come back. A compromise would be to make that an option. This actually causes undeveloped planets, or serious micromanagement, or a lot of wasted manufacturing.
Yes, they did have auto-repeat for planetary projects at one point, but that was the only way the worked. This meant that, as new terraforming became available, one would need to cycle through all planets to stop the projects. Additionally, this also auto-repeated garrisoning legions, which meant that if not careful (and very micro-managey) all available legions would be garrisoned on a single planet, with no way to remove them from this unwanted result.
In fact, having an option to auto repeat or not is the best solution. But it may be problematic to code that in, depending on how it was programmed.
I just created a post about this. I somehow did not see this one. I agree wholeheartedly that something should be done. I am ok with most of the suggestions but when I get to this state, the game becomes almost unplayable. It is so frustrating that I just quit and start a new game. Quite annoying. But it should be reasonable to not ask you for something to build if nothing is available to build but the issue might be that there are things available but you may not want them so doing this might be harder than you think. I would vote for both a "don't bother me if nothing is in the queue" like shipyards and a repeat for aid if you want to use it. But I will agree with the plea to StarDock to consider adding this. It would seem to be a fairly simple addition.
or maybe, just maybe, they should have left projects alone as endless things to do like they were when the game launched. but then again that wouldnt sit well with the current crew who seem to like making the game a glorified excel spreadsheet instead of a fun game
Please bring back endless projects indeed.
Sorry for the ignorant question but what is meant by "endless projects"?
The project will run forever until you remove it.
