Dear Devs,
i really want to know about some main bugs which you ignore for a very long time it looks like.
A couple of links in this reference to remember you:

Thats only a very little choice of topics out of your forum...
Galaxie settings and weapons graphic wants to be fix since month or over a year.
Planet Improvements still not existent (Financial Buildings, Touristic buildings and so on)Its over 3 weeks since intrigue without any feedback.
The 3 points (Galaxy settings, weapons graphic, Planet improvements) are together sooo big that it is not really fun to play the game.
Why super mega ship designing if all ships fire only a little red dot in the battle viewer no matter which weapon i have?!)
Why so much options to create a galaxy i like to play in if the options are broken SINCE CRUSADE!
Intrigue playing.. without Planet improvements
AND AND AND much more and so on..
The most of them without feedback... WHY
You wonder about negative steam reviews! Are you reading them?
You change the dlc policie in reference to the reviews. WHY
The main topic is not to much new dlc as you give us new content to pay for without fixing those fun killing mega bugs.
We please you since month but you do nothing.
Also intrigue broke game mechanics but it looks like you do nothing.
I'am sure the number of negative reviews in reference to new dlc would much fewer if you fix this things quickly without 1000 of please by the player.
Or a little feedback what you will do!
It would be soooo easy! Stop wondering about negative reviews and do what all the players ask for: FIXING THE BUGS PLEASE!!!!!
Many thanks in advance
Thanks hawkeyebf1. 👍
Thank you for posting all this in one place! And please don't forget the unlimited-range-on-all-AI-ships bug too, which I consider pretty severe.
As I understand it, management looked at the Steam reviews and lowered the number of people working on the game because of the negative rating.
I agree with the lack of feedback: For me, I dont expect everything I complain about to be fixed pronto - or in some cases, fixed at all.
But I'd like to know what Stardock's plans are regarding those things and why.
Thats been worked on and should be fixed next patch. One of the devs mentioned it on Discord.
Wow. That's pleasantly surprising! Now if we can just get 10-20 more bugfixes in addition to that, I might even be able to play it again... After another month of modding of course... *wistful sigh*
Unfortunately I don't use Discord except when I absolutely have to. Be nice if the devs weren't totally silent on their own forum (*cough* Paradox communicates really well! *cough*), but that's just how it is. I gave up ever expecting any info or help from these devs when they refused to answer about the XML .bin files back when Crusade first came out, even though they easily could've. Talk about feeling betrayed...
And of course, as I've said before, a majority of these bugs look/sound/smell (to me) like things that should've never happened in the first place, fancy 64-bit architecture or not, but whatever; that pattern is obviously not going to change, and a working game is more important than beating a dead horse. So, thank you for the info, Horemvore.
I'm glad to hear the range bug getting a fix. There are other old bugs, but that was the real game-breaking one for me.
(edit) now maybe I can play a xenophobe who doesn't explore past a realistic boundary, and not meet every civ on the map by turn 100
Yeap, SD should concentrate more on bug fixing and improvements (like invasions, space battles) and then add DLC's. Not the other way around. Unless they have a reason to do this, which will mean there is a problem.
What is "a long time"? Every post I just read there is new as of 3.0 and some aren't really bugs (having a shortage of food not causing starvation or something is a design choice, not a bug, it's not like Civ made my tanks not run if I had negative oil).
While some complaints are design decisions (negative food for example, which does not bother me so much as it could be made better)
others are actual bugs.
I know I appreciate when people post feedback.
But someone posting something two weeks ago and then following up that we "still" haven't fixed it isn't necessarily super helpful. They're on our radar and we were not really aware of them until then.
Make sure you try out v3.02 which is now in opt-in.
Frogboy, for the record, the bug I was concerned about is apparently fixed in 3.02 (about to test now)
thank you for your attention and a great game
I just add a couple of bugs in this post which are new ones yes. Just to make sure you don't let's wait another year. But especially galaxy settings is over a year old and weapons graphic also. Both are very very often posts and very fun killing. The main problem is that you gave no feedback you will fix it any time. After a solo long time it looks like you will never fix it.
You don't want to told me its OK to let us wait for so long time without any feedback you will fix it any time? !
Also after this post it looks like you ignore it hardly! And I really want to understand why you do it or not do it in this way???
I've got private messages by players which tried the same and pleased you to fix the bugs. They are not active in the forum anymore and stop playing galciv long time ago exactly because this topic. They thank me for this post but don't believe in you to change anything. That was a surprise for me and very very sad so you see there really is a big problem! But you won't see it!
Also the communication in this case is great! You talk about more new galaxy options you will give us but no word about repairing the options still there and broken for over a year.
And you still give us no concrete feedback in this case. That's very sad!
Btw, 3 weeks are a very long time. in reference to the planet improvement. Tourism is important mechanic in this game now and to be not able to built a port of call (and this only one building which goes away in he middle of the game) there are many other. In other words: a broken mechanic your game now based on. To wait for a fix is really hard!
Thank you very much
Guess I'll weigh in on this.
Thanks, just needed to get that out.
To point out, one bug that actually was game-breaking for some, was fixed very quickly and is in the 3.02 opt-in (AI range bug).
I guess I'd like to see the weapon graphic bug addressed, but it does not change the actual game-play at all.
(edited for version typo)
It don't really breaks the game, sure. But its like you buy a new car and a door is missing and the customer support won't repair it.
It feels incomplete and broken but you can drive
Its my opinion and only my! Nobody is forced by me to have the same opinion
I wrote all the things not because i hate the game. If i would hate it i would just stop playing an buy another game.
I play Gal Civ since Beta ever and ever again! I never loved a game more than GalCiv 3. That is the reason why i try to fight for it.
It looks like all decisions of the devs based on steam reviews. Thats ok and i understand this. But exactly this topic you find very very often in those reviews... "Games feels incomplete but new content comes out without fixing things"So i know I'am not alone with that.
And the decision to stop DLCs for this game because negative game reviews was a shock for me!
So i try to help in my way because i want to play this game a couple of years and want more content and not only one times a year...
(9 month ago frogboy told at steam that people whos write negative reviews will have no influence on game development and now in every threat in that reference you can read "Oh we cant do this because negative steam reviews"...
So i hope you understand a little bit what i do.
..Discord, GalCiv Homepage, Steam ... i don't like to manage my thoughts at 3 sites..
@Gauntlet: I play GRM 8.5 and a have the Weapon Graphic Bug... Only red dots in every fight
Thank you
As of now I care mostly about crappy planet invasions and crappy space battles. When will this be addressed??????
Thank you for the feedback guys. We're working on updating GC3 and fixing issues, as Frogboy previously said there is a 3.02 opt-in right now to try on Steam.
We also compile feedback from our Discord server. We keep an eye out for as much of this stuff as possible and hope to deliver a better GalCiv with every patch we make.
Are you guys planning or at least thinking to over hull planetary invasions and space battles ??
Thats amusing "very quickly", 1 year later....
See, that says to me that Stardock themselves don't see that as much of a problem but because enough of the gamers amongst us have been complaining about it they've gone "Heck, let's just do something about that to stop the complaints!"
I totally understand that, as I've said (maybe too often ) on this forum. I just would like Stardock to be more upfront about the things that Moremvore, LunarMongoose and, especially hawkeyebf1 have been mentioning and post something along the lines of: "Points 1, 4 and 8 are errors and yes, the next patch will fix them - or maybe the next, depending on their priority - but they will be fixed at some point. Points 2, 6, 7 and 10 are not working as we intended so need nerfing/buffing as needed. But points 3, 5, and 9 we are never going to fix because those things work how we want them to. You can, of course, mod them of you don't like them."
THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
They already get more flack for apparent lags than they'd prefer; this is obvious from their lackluster forum response percentage rate which has been notoriously subpar with few exceptions. Imagine the increased flack that would follow if they were forthcoming, straightforward, and honest, especially regarding your latter "we are never going to fix".
💥
If a pattern such as this has been going on for as long as it has, it's logical to at least begin to conclude that it's never gonna change.
The pathetic 3-years-outdated manual is a prime example. Eight months ago on this forum I directly asked Frogboy about potentially updating the manual. His reply?
<crickets>
And the only mention of the manual since then that I've been able to find is (job posting January 27, 2018) "we have to rewrite the GalCiv III user manual, largely from scratch, to handle the base game, crusade and soon Intrigue". And guess what. In that thread, once again, followup questions were asked about the manual, and, once again, Frogboy's response, friggin' crickets.
Bottom line you're never gonna hear crap about crap Frogboy's ashamed to tell ya. Take that or leave that, your choice.
My experience is the bug affects all ships assigned to races. So your own created ships you play do not have it(along with your ships you give/trade to the AI work properly) . But in games where the AI builds ships off the custom designed shipset all have the issue which pretty much ruins the entire point of having custom AI races with custom shipsets as they are just something to be shot at as they shoot red balls at you. Sure its not too bad at first but its such a glaring issue the game gets boring at the mid/late game when you finally are at the point of huge fleets fighting and its feels unrewarding that its meh.
I have to assume im the minority but if im going to keep playing a game for 500+ hours and for years shouldn't simple things that make the game look and feel good get attention? If i was a new player i probably wouldn't even notice and just play small maps vs the built in factions like the devs want us to play.
Now i assume this bug is not fixable or they would have fixed it. Must be something hard coded and not worth fixing for the time and cost.
Also for the life of me i cannot deal with the battleviewer since Crusade basically starting ships on top of eachother. The values you could change in the base game do not seem to change the viewer anymore so not only are the battles meh to view due to red balls but also the actual fights are just all ships start on top of eachother and shoot, weapon range means nothing. Now i know this is modable but the xml that used to affect that doesn't seem to make a difference.
I've documented, I think pretty comprehensively, the issue of ships spawning all clumped together making for a really ugly spectacle in the battle viewer. I sent of a ticket with a whole bunch of files and steps for replication, as well as video documentation. It has become my pet issue, and I find it pretty detrimental to have what is an otherwise beautifully detailed and presented game saddled with a really flawed combat viewer.
On a more positive note, on the steam wishlist one of the devs has updated its 2018 listing with a item that includes a revamp of the battle viewer, so hopefully we will see some significant improvement. While there were some visual elements added with Crusade, there was also something that fundamentally broke the camera when Crusade launched, and it hasn't been fixed since.

That sound interesting/promising. Hopefully we will see updated/improved space battles! And wishful thinking, more interesting planetary invasions.
