To the developers:
Hello,
You are doing a great job,
but since the last patch the synthetic races now needs durantium to grow.
So now there ist no more relevant difference between synthetic and silicon based races.
And to raise the population of a synthetic race takes much too long now.
I think it's the core of a synthetic race just to use production points to raise population.
Please reset that like it was before the patch.
Thanks.
I disagree. I love the synthetic but they were a little too easy to get rolling on the population. The durantium does lend itself to a bit of a speed bump that is important due to the changes in the way population affects production now. It also gives synthetics a weakness. If you are fighting synthetics then take out their durantium mines. On smaller maps it may even give other races an edge. On the other hand, on much larger maps with lots of resources, you can have multiple planets running full tilt with population fairly quickly even with the need for durantium.
OK, but then an option to enable or diable that would be nice.
The need of durantium is sometimes a problem on small oder medium maps,
because there is nearly none durantium, so the synthetic races have got a big disadvantage.
And to raise the ressources on the map would put too much on it.
Or the need of an other (may be new) ressource would be better
even just to have a difference to silicon based races.
Major problem in my game and don't know if it is worth going on but am playing a synthetic custom race, turn 81 and NO durantium on the whole map it seems. Gone to every opponent diplomatic screen and none have any durantium plus my colonies have zero and have explored a lot of space and none anywhere. Is it worth going on?
Durantium isn't usually that rare. Check what settings you used when starting the game, resources and asteroids are important for Durantium.
That is annoying. The prob with all of this is that it's pretty much impossible to have a balanced game (between the diff races) with resources set to 'rare'.
Ideally, I like to play without too much resource spam, but it so severely crimps synths/silicates that it's really just not possible to do. The only balancing action that I can see would be to provide some alternative avenue for constructing population. Or making carbon/water based races rely somehow on the same types of resource allocations. Such as making food a resource floating out in space, then requiring food for pop growth..
I had a game just like yours and started over. Not sure if it's possible to mod a save game to add a resource or not..
You can add it from the console if you have cheats enabled.
I can probably look it up but how do you get to the console and what does it actually allow?
modify credits, ideology point, population, destroy objects... basically a lot. https://galciv3.gamepedia.com/Console_commands
Forgot to mention, that is from a really old version so the actual commands are not the same in some cases. Don't recall which off the top of my head. Once you get it setup and working just type help to list all the current commands, find what you want them type commandname help to see what it does
Thanks ..I did find how to get to it, but it was no use to me so abandoned game and started new one with changes to to game to allow more resources and this new game now actually has resources.
