Is ObjectDock no longer supported?? If not, why is it still being sold?
I think the silence here speaks volumes. It's going on like 4 years without an update (the last of which was negligible) when it still has a few issues (main one for me is it will NOT stay on top of other windows: You'll notice the free sTabLauncher on the right does this as expected.
Another issue is that you have to click on each tab manually to check what is on that tab when it should be a hover-state action. A simple update would take care of this, but development seems to have stopped.
Yes, very disappointing. My biggest issue is the delay thing when you close an app and try to go open another from the Dock - it seems to do nothing. You have to wait. There is a thread on this issue and disabling a DLL to make that go away (but is also disables the live icons).
Stardock - I would happily pay a modest cost if you would actually keep this dock going and more active. I have moved one of my other PC's to an open source dock that works really well - but I like yours. Please keep it active and updated. Please fix the delay issue too.
I have none of the issues you have, but I have another one instead. If I have a shortcut to my nas/smb share it can take up to a minute to load the dock. I have 8 or so tabs, all the other shortcuts are just program shortcuts. Addition to the minute it takes to load it, the computer is also extremely slow and I can't start any other program while OD is loading. (the time to load it is actually worse after I updated to Ryzen 1600X for some odd reason)
If the mentioned free dock supports the same features I might just change to that...
Does anyone know if ObjectDock will run on Win10?

Blast! It seems that this post has been nuked. It's now radioactive and can't be accessed any longer.
It seems OD's certificate has expired. I only get an red warning window/popup about "protecting" my computer with a text to contact my administrator about the problem and a non functioning link to get more information about the certificate.
I just re-installed my OS to a new hd and only way to get OD to work is to copy it directly from the old disk. The downside is that not every dll is installed, like ODImg.dll -> every time OD starts I have to dismiss a dialogue informing me about it.
Use this:
http://sd.stardock.com/ObjectDock_2.20_setup_112217.exe
The main site, and the trial, will be fixed sometime Monday.
Ok I'm not sure if I have turned into an idiot, but now when I re-installed the links version on top of what I had, I can't activate it with my key. Just "Invalid product key". I tried copying it from my downloads page and the product key email you have sent me. if I try to activate it with my stardock account it says "ObjectDock is not associated with this account.
Time for an support email I think.
So if I'm reading these links correctly Object "dock" is NOT compatible with WIn10 ?

ObjectDock No
And the Object Dock main page states only Win8 NOT Win10
https://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/
I heard back from support and I'll share it here. They said the Object Dock pages are up-to-date. That means it is only supported on Win8 and below (not Win10). I also asked the future of Object Dock and the response was "It is unknown"
I can get it to run on Win 10, Fall Creator update. However, it crashes constantly - about once or twice a day. I have a dedicated launcher just for this program because it craps out so often. Today, I just got tired of it and the lack of support from Stardock. I found an "advanced docking system" that appears to work with Win 10 and will compliment my Rainmeter setup.
I am really bummed about this because I have really enjoyed OD. I feel strongly that I cannot, in good faith, support a company that is still selling a product that it appears to have abandoned.
I do have issues with ObjectDock on WIn10 too.. Pity that Stardock does not update this...
Anyone knows of a decent replacement working about the same way?
Can I ask you wich one is it?
This product is dead it seems, support doesn't even answer my emails about it.
- OD works just fine with all W10 versions I have had since W10 previews became available (on my computer)
- had to upgrade my computer, old installer didn't work because of expired certificate
- new installer with a new certificate only as a change installs but doesn't let me use my product key?
- No reaction from SD support to any of my emails or forum posts.
- 20 years of customer relationship because of good support and useful programs comes to an end. No more purchases from SD it seems.
Thanks and goodbye

What is that open source dock?

Winstep Nexus is still being updated. http://winstep.net/nexus.asp
I have uninstalled that software. Sad...but just too many issues on Windows 10.
On my end the OD freezes but there is a little work around. If you want it to keep working DON'T close the folder you just opened with it, when you close the folder then OD freezes for like 2 minutes.
I was into using Winstep for a while and paid good money for it but crashes on me constantly. I have a pretty robust system as I'm a content creator and use ZBrush and other high end 3D apps all the time so there is something buggy in their code so I'm stuck with OD .... There is Rocket Dock, completely free but it's not been updated in a long time and I really need a tabbed set up like OD provides!
It would truly be nice if SD would just re code OD to work with Windows 10. Not asking for anything shiny and new just a dock system that doesn't freeze up as it does now.
I had to stop using this software. The app keeps hanging, like it's doing a refresh on it's icons or loading something.... but whatever it is, the system is on all M.2 SSDs, Kaby Lake, 16GB DDR4-2400..... no reason for this sluggish hang times. So I decided to switch to using Fences instead, at least that's updated.
I'm running it on Win10, with minor bugs
My only issue with ObjectDock is a loss of functionality in Windows (going back many versions, but still available in Windows 10). If you shift right-click on a consolidated entry in the Windows Taskbar (say, 3 command prompt windows), you get a context menu with several options:
Cascade all windows
Show all windows stacked
Show all windows side by side
Restore all windows (this one is normally grayed out, unless you've used the next option)
Minimize all windows
Close all windows
These only apply to the specific application, not every visible window. This functionality is something I often use, but which is absent from ObjectDock, so every time I give it a try...I find that after an hour or three, I'm uninstalling ObjectDock again.
