Hello,
According to steam i've played for over 40 hours. I have sadly bashed my head against constant crashes & getting stuck ending turn for more like 120 hours, 80 hours of re-loading, re-running the same turn, the same 2 turns, 3 turns, downloading the opt-in patch, verifying my steam files, updating grapics drivers, sound drivers, patching windows.
I haven't yet managed to play through a multiplayer match without getting permanently stuck on a turn that just won't move onto the next turn. Repeated re-loads doesn't fix it, doing different things in the turn doesn't fix it.
Steam will not refund me because i've played more than 2 hours.
I'd like a refund please & a refund for the copy i bought my girlfriend, both were in the recent steam sale.
regards
Andrew
Ok here we go. I do not work for Stardock. I do not represent Stardock nor am I affiliated with Stardock or any of its employees in anyway.
So I am free to say what I think about your dissatisfied purchase.
First off, the purchase is NOT thru Stardock its thru Steam, you need take this and your complaint and request for return to them. PERIOD END OF STORY. While Stardock has created the product, the transaction and any returns thereof are Steams liability not Stardock's.
Second, you played the game for 40 hours. Let me repeat that. You played the game for 40 hours. Hmm if you bought the game on steam sale you got it for about 25 bux, maybe 40. That is about 1 to 2 dollars of entertainment an hour. That is a hell of a value, I think you got your money's worth!!
Third, your return is based on the idea that the product is faulty and therefore you are entitled to a return. Ill go to my second point, you played for 40 hours! However, lets look at facts. I have played about 2000 hours and I am not experiencing any of the problems you claim, nor are any of the vast (10,000) players as this forum would be flooded with complaints and it is not.
I am doing my best not to attack you Andrew but customer service issues like this really irritate me. If I worked for Stardock and said half of what I did here I would be fired in a hot second, thankfully that is not going to be case.
I see you validated your files, did you submit a bug report?
Again this not a Stardock issue, its a steam issue. You purchased a product there, you need to take your request for return there.
Im also not having any problems, but i dont play multiplayer something they are working on fixing. Dont play any custom factions. Except the ones about how i really dont know steam. Whats your hardware this is a pretty hardware intensive game. If i was you i would just shelve it for awhile, and come back then it will probably be the best game ever.
I have played for over 1400 and except for the occasional speed bump being smoothed out all is fine on my wireless laptop.
If you want the game to run then you need to send in a ticket and get the problem fixed on your end.
I am with the others who have a different experience and therefore a different reaction. Not only does the game work in SP, but I also participate in a twice weekly MP game. We have hundreds and hundreds of turns logged in multiplayer. It is not a totally clean experience. We may have one or two crashes per four hour session. The auto save file has become an increasingly reliable source of recovery. It helps to keep the map size and number of players limited until you find what works for your PC/network performance. It is highly possible you are reacting. or over-reacting, to local issues.
It seems to be a consensus conclusion that you probably have local issues that could be resolved. It would require sharing more of the technical details involved and less of the emotion. But there is a community here that is easily encouraged to be helpful.
If you are serious about wanting a refund, good luck with that. You seem ill informed on where your money went and who would owe you that refund. I don't understand how yelling at the wrong company will help you, and I think that people who do so tend to make themselves look unreasonable.
If you are looking to vent about complexities and frustration of getting the game going, consider yourself heard by at least one person. It is still not automagic about getting itself running. Considering some of the technical challenges the game has built-in with its complexities and vast sizes, it is doing well and getting better. Still, it drives some people wild.
Still, I think it is worth checking with the forum or Stardock support. If you quit just because it is a challenge, you may not appreciate the game even if you get it running clean. Otherwise, don't give up yet! You are so close!
I had MANY crashes and lock ups prior to the latest patch, seems very stable now.
There are good trouble shooting tips in this link, it also tell you how to submit a ticket. Generally SD is very responsive to submitted tickets

Mmm- okay.I have to favor already given comments. While one would argue the game was made by Stardock and therefore the Refund policy is also Stardocks it is not!- by juridical terms- Steam is a shop gaming platform- In this case you paid Steam for the key- so they have a return policy of 2 hours (afaik) and some special cases. However you can still apply for a refund if- its a special case- that case will be looked separately. However where Stardock has to abide is Support. If you create a Support-ticket here:https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Tickets/SubmitA person from the Staff will contact you and try to help you as best as he or she can.Given said that People have many hardware configurations and One company- given its best intentions- can not for the love of God- test them all. Bugs are constantly being worked on and progress is being made. You can follow the progress either via Steam or Official forums. All I can say- best of luck in trying to fix your problems and check the forums time to time if your problem has been resolved.Regards,-Zingo
40 hours? If I was getting constant crashes after only 2 hours I`d be asking for a refund.
Sorry you are having an issue. Please contact support so we can get more information so we can see what the problem is.https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit
Not to defend Stardock but I have played for good amount of time never experiencing issues you describe. U sure there isn't issue with your hardware? which seems like it is?
I'm glad you are all doing ok. I can play all kinds of other games with no issue at all, but this one, nightmare.
I will work with the support guys to see if we can resolve this problem. I can usually suss these things out, but this one is really REALLY kicking my ass.
