Hey everyone
I'm about to get a new PC. I've been really happy with everything I saw about the new Ryzen CPUs, yet in all benchmarks I see about this game, the Intel CPUs still are way ahead. I don't mind if I get 10-20% lower fps in Intel focused games if I at least get 60fps@1080p (most is done by the GPU anyway). But I'm really on the fence for Ashes and want to do matches on huge maps and with lots of people.
What's the best CPU to build right now for big Ashes matches? If possible I would like to get 60fps on a huge map with max players in the late game. Is the huge gap between the Ryzen 1800x and the Intel 7700K still there at huge maps with lots of players/units?
The other stuff I'm planning to get:
I really need some help in this regard. Originally I wanted to buy a Ryzen CPU, because I thought it would handle Ashes way better (because of more cores), but this doesn't seem to be the case.
More cores is future proof.
Seems silly to buy only a quad core these days.
Intel is coming out with more cores as well, so, if you don't want Ryzen, then you can wait for intel's hex/octo core CPUs.
I decided to get a Ryzen 1800x. I'm still testing, but everything runs pretty well so far
Ryzen won't run ashes in dx12 mode without turning smt off in the bios (negatively impacts performance ) on a number of systems. I've seen the issue raised a number of times online and experience it myself but no response to any other other posts about it and my ticket has been ignored so I would go with Intel if this game is a priority for you as amd is not well supported. If this game is not a priority grab a ryzen. I love mine.
