Well, I replaced WB 7.41 with 10.62 (recommended to fix one particular issue) and the skins are not applied to Win 7. What's that about? I wouldn't have upgraded if I was aware that the new version doesn't seem compatible with Win 7 despite claim on website. And app interface reminded me of why I disliked WB v10.x on my notebook. Ugly blue on white app interface. Nor does WB icon show up in notification area. Is there something I'm missing up running this version?
You should probably contact the support team as WB should work well with Win7

My experience with WB 10 on Windows 7; I used WB 10 on Windows 7 for a couple of weeks.
My main problem was that Pale Moon browser froze. This doesn't happen with WB 7 so I had to downgrade.
Other than that there was a little bug with window button tooltips not showing.
So I'd say that WB 10 works on Windows 7, just didn't like Pale Moon.
Usually it takes a reboot for the WB icon to show up.
Clearly WB 10 is where the development happen so I'll switch to that when I need to and hope Pale Moon is compatible then.
Right now I'm only using textures on default MS skin, so there are no skinning problems whatsoever with WB 7.
If skins aren't applied at all you should contact support. I assume you uninstalled WB 7 and rebooted before installing WB 10?
Yes. did the reboot and then installed WB 10.62. This morning finally gave up trying to get skins to apply and uninstalled WB10, rebooted and then reinstalled WB 7.41. Skins applied without problem and taskbar transparency works as before. Also, WB icon appeared in (hidden) notification location without rebooting. And the WB interface is so much better than the pseudo-Win 10 of current version. I'll not ask for my $10 back because I like the company and the apps I use (Object Dock, CursorFX).
WB 10.62 doesn't work on 2 of my Win 8.1 computers. I have no complaints, I just use WB 10.51 and everything is fine.
I have no need to upgrade (WB) since all the upgrades to WB is geared more towards Win 10.
Hey guys. I updated to 10.59 when it was available as I needed the new look and for me making WB's. I never updated past that as I had no need. Wanted to let you know if you want the new look and have the older (newer) version 10.59 it should work fine. This rig has win pro 7 64 bit.
I am using the latest version on my win10 computer with no -problems.
I am using WB 10.62 on Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Creative Update here, all 64-bit, with no issues at all.
Thanks for sharing. This is important information. There is a Win 8.1 computer beside me, currently without WB installed.
The problem with WB 10.51 is that it can't be downloaded from "My Downloads", only WB 10.62 is available.
And if a program gets an update that interferes with WB, your 10.51 version will not be fixed.
Enjoy the ride as long as it lasts. Maybe I will have to do the complaining when I take the time to install WB on Windows 8.1.
That gives me hope, thanks LightStar. I guess skinners like you would be the first to notice regressions.
But what is your primary OS that you use all the time. I'm using 8.1 all the time so maybe you don't see it.
I really don't want to hijack this thread, but just as an explanation it's just a small glitch. Using IE or Chrome when saving a picture (right click save picture as) the explorer window that opens freezes and the only way to continue is to open the task manager and close out the program.
As I said in the above statement there is no updates for Win 8 it's all 10, so everything works the same with 10.51 as it does for 10.62 (except for the glitch) so there is no need to update.
My whole point is, if you are using an older OS and everything is working there is no need to update.
OK, doesn't sound good. I don't think you can use WB 7 with real skins, because it hasn't been updated for many years. Skins only look good with default Win 7 programs, but when you start certain third-party programs they may lack a titlebar. It's still there, but it's not visible so you have to rely on "the force" to maximize and minimize windows! Only reason I am still able to use WB 7 is that I only applied textures, no skin involved.
Applying textures to windowframes, taskbar and Explorer background is a "light" way of skinning that avoids many problems with real skinning. I think this could generate money for Stardock if it was maintained beyond Windows 7. Just sayin'
It works on win10 just like it does on 7 and 8. Some skins will accept textures and some won't. Nothing has changed as that is how it always has been. Note that it's not the fault of the program it is how that skin is designed.
That is a very good point you make there!
I know you weren't replying to my comment, but I want this sorted so I'll comment anyway. And by the way you should hijack this thread, because as a daily user you are the Win 8.1 expert.
My fear is this: the latest build of Windows 10 is getting most of the attention of WB development and stable builds like Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 aren't given equal attention.
There is reason to update as soon as your favorite third-party programs rewrite their UI and suddenly appear without a titlebar!
On Windows 7 you are allowed to put textures on default MS theme. On Windows 8/10 this functionality doesn't exist. You can only put textures on skins, not the default MS theme.
Yes, you are correct. In fact the Default skin is totally locked from doing anything to it. I only mentioned it because at least in my opinion you made it sound like it didn't work at all on 10. Either way it's all cleared up now.
I do get confused at times. Old age you know so give me some breaks. lol.
I'm not understanding the reference to real skins. I have a few dozen skins that all load without issue. I do modify some skins to tweak colors of some elements and save as new skins. Have never used textures. I have no idea why these same skins in WB 10.62, although displayed along with the WB default ones, would not actually change Win 7 appearance despite appearing to load.
Try a TOTAL uninstall of Windoblinds. Then install WB 10.62. This worked for me.
On Windows 7 you can use WB without a "real skin", just textures on Microsoft's default theme.
You should submit a support ticket see reply 1.
I installed WB 10.62 (latest) on Windows 8.1. I just used it for half an hour, but everything seems to work. I downloaded a couple of images with IE, no problem. I didn't install Chrome.
I always expect trouble and when trouble doesn't come, I'm amazed...
