Sorry if I missed the post somewhere, but Brad had mentioned in the last stream that Crusade Beta's were up now for Founders, but I don't see one listed as a beta on Steam - it still lists the "opt in beta v2.00" - is this the new crusade beta, or was that a holdover from the December (or whenever it was) v2.00 beta that's done with now?
Also, any discussion at all on the "Generate Random Faction" option on game-start? I would still love to just be able to fill a big universe with 30 factions with all randomly generated attributes (a random tech tree selected, random traits, random super abilities, random ideology propensity, and random motivations). I know that this was mentioned as something on the radar way back when, but haven't seen it on any of the streams.
Cheers, Crusade is looking pretty fun.

No, this is a left-over from the v2.00 release.
Brad posted on Discord that they are releasing to original founders this week.
Ah cool,
Thanks for the quick response guys..
weird - havent seen anything yet - to make things even funnier ,Streamers are treated with higher Value then the elite Founders ,i cant explain it otherwise
So we now have Discord-Founders who get information faster than Founders ? So what is Founders forum for ?
So, how do I opt in for the beta? I can't find anything on the forums and I don't know what "Discord" is. Does anybody know how to get the beta on steam?
Discord is no big deal. It is just a chat site that is connected to several popular games. Google it go there, join, and you are a discord guy.
BTW if there is any early release of the game, you will get it, discord be damned.
That's not true. I didn't get it.
Founders edition degraded to being nothing more than preorder.
The week is not over yet
The week where you posted that is over. Though just about from the start of the Discord Founders were created each week was the "week" it was coming out to the rest. Good news is next week it definitely will happen.
Apparently, you have to go to that discord chat and beg for a beta key, at which point Brad will randomly PM you a key. I was told by some of the people there I was "not popular enough" to get a key too. I suppose they believe that we are "not founder enough"?
Founder or not I'd wager that Brad was selective with who he gave keys to in the Discord chat because he was wanting players that he knows have ongoing interactions on the forums and will play it and give feedback on bugs/issues. I don' think he wanted to risk handing out keys to founders that would just play the game and get butthurt and ragequit when they came across the first bug in the beta.
I exptected that crusade beta will be available for me as a founder at some point. It wasn't. I'm disappointed.
It would have been better if they had not continuously suggested that all founders would get early access eventually.
As for being selective, I have been a member of this community for 17 years and I have participated in beta testing GCII and GCIII and given feedback on both.
Yeah, I am a bit irritated, but I'll get over it.
I can't say I'm vocal about anything, am just a huge lurker, and have been really excited about Crusade, reading everything teased out about it. It is a little disappointing that I'd need to be active and vocal before being considered for a beta, even though I understand the reasoning.
At the very least, it's not too far away from regular release, so there's that going for us.
Communication hasn't been as "on to it" as I'd like from frogboy and co but from reading the Discord chat, there's been lots of doing/undoing/redoing going on so obviously that takes priority: I'd rather they spent time putting out the fire rather than sending us all a five paragraph release that says "CRUSADE IS ON FIRE!" in great detail and all nice articulate-like.
Looking forward to May 4! Which will be May 5 for us Kiwi folks, I presume....
Stardock doesn't care about most of the founders anymore. We already paid so why bother ?
I don't care about promoting game anymore. There are other forums, in other languages, where a vocal gamer can make a difference. They lost at least one ...
Don't the Founders get Crusade for free? If so, I really don't see why any of you would really care about getting to play the beta before it is released to the people that have to pay for it. If it is free, you are getting exactly what the advantage of being a Founder was supposed to be. If it isn't free for you Founders, then sure maybe I could see being a little annoyed about not being able to test it out before the rest of us schmucks that missed out on the Founders title. But if you have to pay for it, I would be way more upset about that than I would be about not getting to beta test it a couple weeks before everybody else.
Have a nice day.
^ No it isn't free. Elite Founders simply have already paid for it.
As for why someone would care, people can care for different things. Some people put value in beta testing, others don't.
Plus there is the thrill of finding bugs and problems. Then seeing your suggestions used to fix the problem.
For me it was not about beta testing. I just wanted see game sooner.

Agreed, although I have been a member since the OS/2 versions -- about 25 years. And I guess I am not as frustrated or irritated as most. More like understanding of Brad's position. I do think, however, that next time he should find a better way to address his concerns.
I don't recall beta access to xpacs being a part of the elite founder package. So I'm not sure why people think they should get access just because. The entitlement generation is the worst yet.
Maybe because access has been being granted to founders randomly for the last couple of weeks and full access to all founders has been mentioned, not promised, but prominently mentioned on several occasions.
Brad gave a description of what he was faced with on this problem at https://forums.galciv3.com/482463/page/2/#replies reply # 46. I find his explanation enlightening.
Thanks, Brad, for your forthrightness and your efforts in supporting us. Perhaps another Stardock grown solution is called for. Or maybe there is a way to get around Steam's shortcomings?
