Recently went back to VLC player but it leaves much to be desired. The audio output is crappy and Xion's was much better. However, Xion is no longer an option, it breaks easily. Hell...SMX is more robust, it didn't even notice the latest updates to Win 10. It just kept clicking away. I downloaded both Foobar 2000 and Media Monkey. I have not yet installed either one. In your opinions which of the two are best.
Foorbar2000 of course,just likes Xion,lightweight,plus tons of free plugins. Media Monkey:fancy,bloated.................

I also use Foobar2000...it is lite and plays music. My Xion still is working... but I also have Windows 7.... so does not working have to do with Windows 10?

All of the previous updates broke Xion and I'm not dealing with it again. Foobar2000 is my choice. Not interested in skinning it. Just want it to do its job, nothing else. I uninstalled Xion, reinstalled it too many times without results so to me Xion is Kaput!. End of story.
I let WB take care of Foobar, works pretty well.
I have windows 10, and still use xion with no problems.
Every skin and plugin still works with it.
Too many times it refused to update and just as many times refused to install a skin. To me its not worth the aggravation.
Not the point....though I should add I've 'skun' music players you probably haven't even heard of...
It be skinneded.
As for Winamp, it is my choice for a go-to media player. Not only does it skin well, it has a built-in equaliser and a much better sound than most other players.
and if you add a little piece of software called Bongiovi DPS, the quality of the sound coming from your media player is ten times better..........simply amazing. Just got notification today via email of a new version.

I just use Windows Media Player and Bongiovi DPS.
That Bongiovi DPS surprised me. I have a pair of Logitech speakers hooked up to my laptop and the sound it excellent. If I play it too loud the windows vibrate. Lol Two thumbs up to the devs.
I don't need Bongiovi DPS with my setup. I have a high-end Creative Soundblaster soundcard with the necessary software [EQ, DPS, etc] to blow out the windows and bring down the chandeliers with my 5.1 digital speaker setup.
However, my days of earschplittenloudenboomer are over and I prefer quality sound at a mellow level. Think it may have something to do with becoming an old fart.
