Need the ability to disable creating fences from both right and left, left mouse button, right mouse button.. just provide an option to disable fence creation.
Fences, wants to create new Fences even when I'm done creating the Fences I wanted. Why should I, and other customers, be constantly spammed with a Fences dialog "Create Fence here," or "Create Folder Portal here" wanting to create a new Fence and the transparent selection window?
Additionally, I work with multiple data files on the desktop and used to use the right mouse button to select my data files then copy, move, send, etc... to other locations, but I've not been able to do that with having Fences installed and enabled, since Fences imperially overrides the Window's context menu. Every damn time Fences requests "Create Fence from these icons," while Fences is enabled. NO! So, I either have to disable Fences entirely or left mouse click and select the data files then right mouse click... that's utterly insane and a waste of productivity. I would like my Windows right click context menus back when selecting multiple data files on the desktop.
It's very annoying across my systems.
There ought to be an option under the combo-box for none or disabled... :
The option none or disabled would obviously disable any future Fence creation, until the user chooses to re-enable Fence creation and by adding such feature wouldn't disable current Fences.
It would really be nice to have both Fences version 2.xx and 3.xx updated to reflect this, since I purchased both.
If fences are locked (Rightclick on Desktop - View - Lock Fences) no fence will be created, if you draw a rectangle...
That may be true for someone who doesn't manage their desktop as often as I do. I created a specific amount of fences for a purpose and those fences constantly change... I shouldn't have to "lock" the fences just to disable the left or right mouse button fence creation. The option to disable fence creation ought to be available in the Fences main applications settings page, along with the lock option.
Additionally, I don't like junk in my context menu... that being Stardock arbitrarily forcing options in the context menu when they ought to also be in the main programs settings. They are not. It ought to be the users choice whether or not Fence options display in the context menu, obviously I removed Fences from my context menu as it's completely unnecessary. If I want to change settings I open the main programs interface.
The only time I see (create fence here) upon right click is if I let my cursor move while right clicked. If you do not want a fence created, simply don't move the cursor while right clicking.
That's good for you, clearly you cannot read. Some people are just so damn inexperienced with using computers and yet they have the nerve to refute necessary implementations in a program to serve those with more experience.

I can read fine. You failed to "clearly" relate that you used the right mouse button to "collectively" copy/move/send. As opposed to one at a time, when they are placed on the desktop in the first place.
I was trying to help, rudeness does not help.
You are not helping by completely ignoring the facts, and by not reading, that the options to disable Fence creation ought to be within Fences settings. Don't tell me how to use my, or any user's, desktop! Rudeness is by someone not reading and comprehending... people like you rather assume than ask questions or try to understand how other users use their desktops. You are not only rude, but very narrow-minded.
I use my desktop very differently than you do, obviously, and Stardock has no right to dictate how any users use their desktop. The issue here is that Stardock-Fences does not provide universal customization nor the options that ought to be there.
@Hawaii96703. There is a very simple solution that most software users have discovered. If you don't like the software, don't use it. If you were to politely suggest improvements, it's more likely someone would listen to you. To demand that any software, new or old, be customized to your specific desires is absurd.
Agreed, Jmax666. K for you.
It's not big news that most of the forum members here are narrow-minded and lack technical skill. Also funny how you try to feed others false information, which I never said or "demanded"... clearly you're illiterate and incompetent. Absolutely nothing in my feature request was a demand! It's you and others who are incapable of seeing the benefit.
But, no. People like you need to force your simple technical skills upon other users, rather than seeing what the problem is and how something ought to work better and how it may increase productivity. It's simple people like yourself who just conforms with those without imagination or skills. There is a simple and common solution here... if you have no idea what you're talking about, you clearly do not, then shut the hell up. Had I mentioned at any point that I did not "like" the software? No. I provided a request for the software to work better also known as an improvement. Yet you're too simple minded to believe that what I posted was a feature request, which would be beneficial to myself and many others - moron. There are many other users here who had made the same request, going on for nearly over 7 years, and yet the option is still not available.
I'm not the only user who uses a desktop the way that I do, and most of these people aren't as vocal about it.
Again, I can name several software companies who listen to their customers and see value in their customers experiences and how they use their software. They are very willing to improve their software to meet the customers needs. So why would that be? Probably because they use the software too, and they see the immediate value of a suggestion which would improve their workload and those of others. One of the great features about these companies is they have an active forum where developers work with the customer to implement features and troubleshoot bugs realtime. I will not name these software companies I'm referring to, since people like you don't deserve great software, excellent support, and great people who share great minds. People like yourselves, also the other previous posters, are nothing but immature.
Thank you so much! You save me!
Hello All
Ive recently purchased Fences and love it - it makes my desktop so clean HOWEVER - this dragging on the desktop and constant "create new fences" is driving me absolutely crazy. I am using Version 3.0.9.11 - Cant this be disabled?
Not sure if this is the best way to communicate with the devs/support by posting my query in this forum ?
Anyways, hope someone can assist.
Thank you
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. You can always lock your Fences.
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I seem to be having the same problem as stated in this thread. Are we still forced to lock fences if we don't want to see this annoying message?
It seem currently that is the only way. So, yes.
Thank you,
