Having to wait for the balance patch to hit ashes for quiet some time by now and at the moment i think its time to reward the people that have been waiting for the first good step in terms of gameplay balance to happend.
one thing i need to mention if you have the balance things sorted out i (personally) rather see in the game when they are done instead of holding it back until some dlc or other content comes out (if you have taken notice the players are starting to really lose their tolerance at this point and some are posting their desires to urge you to update the game with the balance patch.
there is also another fact and that is the tournement, if the balance patch came out one day or before the tournement i think people will rather very happy/content again, instead of holding things back like a huge tide, some may have a large amount of tolerance but at this point i think its better to sate their time for waiting so long for something good to happend to the game, (since its been around 4-2 months something really positive have been happening.
(if things are not done yet its better to give us a belived date (but make sure to write in big notes no promises are made.) for the possible next patch or update so its less frustrating to wait and more acceptable to wait until the time comes.)
yeah i agree, another balance patch would be nice. the last one helped bring effectiveness to some units, while leaving others still seemingly over powered even though they were nerfed and counters were buffed.
and i think we still have a rift between players that can air rush an enemy for a quick victory (believing it is the only logical path to victory) and those players that want to survive for atleast 5 min before they are dead
we still have completely useless units like the air rampager and marauder.
armies are still heavily tank focussed (athena + medic) which favours PHC (since there are few reliable counters to such builds except mirror builds)
army composition is still heavily dictated by avaialble resources (masochists, due to massive reliance on rad by SS, and poor alternative builds wrt T1)
and we still have odd tech paths, like the path to the SS regenerator.
Fully agree. I dont actually think that air rush is an instant win, but it does gives you a great advantage over the enemy. To semi counter that tactic you actually must invest far more resources than resources spent on building that air unit. Besides sniping an engeneer early game instantly creates a great disadvantage to that player (cmon engies are expensive as hell).
Even if you put AA defences (1 at every node or so) you cant actually nullify damage dealt to your economy via air rush. Resources spent on AA + sniped engie or a few sniped extractors will still be cost efficient tradeoff from air rushers perspective.
I would really like to see some more tech required for air rush.
Heh, glad you guys are keen for the balance update. I am too!The reason why it wasn't included in 2.1 was because some of the changes to unit requirements (such as Punisher) required the AI code to be updated. That's been done now so the balance patch, or at least most of it, should be coming soon. But I don't know when that will be exactly.
