So I'm a noob so excuse my question...
I was trying out that new orbital that teleports in reinforcements. I never used reinforcements before because I didn't seem useful until now so I'm not sure if this is intended..
When I queue up units from an army for reinforments:
1.) I can't see a build queue on that army or even a counter of how many are in queue on the buttons to build units
2.) It seems to use a max of 2 factories to build those units, which doesn't seem effiicent..So it ends up with a very slow process of reinforcing. For example, If i queue 4 eradictors, it actually put all 4 of those on 1 factory.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
PS. Escalation has been extremely fun.
1) This is just bit of inconvenient UI as far as I can tell. The only way to see what's queued is in the list of units in the army, the icon will get a +n indicating the number of units queued for it.
2) No idea, but I've definitely seen odd behavior with the queuing, I can never quite tell what's happening there.
This whole feature is a bit disappointing. The updates for instant arrival are great in theory, but I've never found it evenly slightly usable to supply an army this way, the UI is just too much of a pain vs repeat queues and waypoints on my factories. And even if you do use it, armies can be full? I hadn't even noticed previously, although it now explains some of the weird behavior in trying to form armies with many units.
Point being, armies being full and disabling the build menu makes it rather difficult to use recruitment to produce units at the same scale as factories, teleportation or not.
Also, it seems a bit silly that the teleportation benefit would only apply if you use one UI menu vs the other. How about if the factory waypoint is on an army, that works too? (assuming it doesn't now, not sure I've tries of if you even can set an army on a waypoint)
We need to be able to designate the factories for the reinforcements really. Army max size really needs to be increased too, as you say it is inconvenient and leads to some odd behaviour. I believe it was some technical limit, hope they are working on it.
Adding to an army is a really nice way of managing your front lines whilst still being able to micro and building what each army needs over just an overall unit range. But I haven't had chance to test the teleport but in theory it would be OP... considering you need artemis or destructor for a decisive push and it'd take long enough for the enemy to push or do something else in this time. They are slow, so if it instaports half way across the map... I see good in this!
That's the goal, yes. If you find it convenient as it is to actually accomplish this well, congratulations. I certainly can't.
That's exactly what I was hoping to confirm. Hopefully they re-examine it. Ability to set queues/repeat queues etc on an army as well as it using all factories would solve it for me. Or the other way around where you can set factories to rally to an army.
I'll avoid wasting quanta on it for now
