Just wanted to help anyone desperately searching for this: after installing the anniversary update, Windows only showed a black screen with a cursor after login. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del did not work, as that produced an error popup instead.
Uninstalling WindowBlinds in Safe mode fixes this problem. I will now try the latest version, hopefully that will work as well.
The only question I have is: can WindowBlinds be bypassed somehow during boot? Considering Microsoft's current update policy, such potentially breaking changes will get rolled out relatively often.

Having the same problem since 8 AM today!
Suspected it was StarDock. Took 1 hour to find out how to go into safe mode, then stopped all startups.
Logging back in, started up fine. Stopped StarDock in systems & rebooted, everything fine.
Funny that StarDock people didn't test this & give a waning or fix to this probelm?
I expect many having this problem right now, & not know it's StarDock!

@DaveRI
Thanks, that's very good to know.
@STEVERENOMARKS
When they released 10.0.3 they had no way of knowing this would happen. Another reason to keep WindowBlinds up-to-date at all times.
Why are/were you using 10.0.3 when 10.0.7 has been out for awhile now?
Because it's been working perfectly so far and the program itself does not seem to notify me unless I explicitly click the "Check for updates" button in the about menu. (The automatic update check is supposedly enabled but I never got any notifications from it.)
LOL All... err Most Vendors have access to most update prior to release of a OS like windows.
I'm am installing & may not reinstall....
Not sure what you are mad about. The fix has been out since June 30th,
This is a great reason to keep an eye on the forums here. Updates are announced here.
I have been using the update button in the program, it always said no update!
Didn't know of 10.0.7 untill Lightstar said it. LOL
Update button doesn't work...
My probelm over with... THanks God!
the slight problem is the fact that they snuck a cu today as well bumping above the aniversary.the ui constantly changes especialy on the insider builds.
thing is they didnt even state what the cu did but i noticed i had scaling issues again an for a brief moment blank screen whitch went away after another reinstall and refreshing the gfx drivers.stardock unlike other companies actually wraps around the os itself.its not just a basic theme.hell some add things like the old dragon theme for 7 mae a dragon that blew fire when you open the start menu.instead of bickering actually realise what stardock does apart from others befoe you try to diss them.hell if it wasnt for them even 8.1 would have been unbearable to use
My current version from WindowBlinds About shows:
Windows 10 Home (10586.th2_release_sec.160630-1736)WindowBlinds 10 (015 - Windows 10 Edition) - 64 bit OS
Where do I see this 10.0.7 version number?

Yeah, everybody's says that and I don't know why Stardock does not put that pertinent information in the About area. Sure would make sense.
You should probably just login to your Stardock account and download 10.0.7 and install it to be sure.
Yeah, the lack of the actual version number in "about" is a pain in the ass.
My all in one updated to the anniv. update and still has a black screen, had to uninstall WB. Got a screen. Installed WB 10.0.7 and went black again....back to safe mode, no WB.
And, this stupid update auto signs me into Skype, with my MS login, which I do not use for Skype, and then gives me notifications in the action center for skype, which I do not want, and can't seem to turn off....aaaarrrggghhhh!!!!
I haven't gotten this update yet. I hope it doesn't screw up everything.
That's odd, 10.0.7 works fine for me even though I experienced the same problem with the earlier version.
No issues with WB, a little hiccup with Iconpackager and I beat my fastest boot time of 47 seconds to 42 seconds. So far all are playing nice.
Guys... my problem with the Anniversary update wasn't caused by 10.0.3. I had 10.0.7 on my machine and the same thing happened as in the OP. I think the problem is how the Anniversary Update screws around with User profile which is altered, or with csrss but I'm not sure.
Other folks with 10.0.7 installed the Anniversary update with no problems at all...I think it's more machine specific...but that's just my take.
I just completed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update with an unknown (10.0.x) version of WindowBlinds installed. WindowBlinds works without any problems.
OK...answer.
What happened was that after signing in, I interrupted the transfer of the User Profiles.
The misapprehension? That W10 Anniv. Upgrade was done installing because it asked me to sign in (it recognized who should sign in, right?).
So...my fault mostly. MS's fault a little bit: It should have said, "Do not interrupt this process". After all, it did that in other places during the installation.
Will probably have to do a clean install. I think the data is ok, though.
Yeah, that's annoying, and it's not the first time they've done this "sign in, but we're not actually done yet" update strategy.
No problem here the update went well...so far so good.
ever since the cumulitive update i still get flickers at times and full things like kodi hidden object games etc flash the dsktop or just the taskbar in and out at times during play
im not sure how else to explain this but is anyone else having this issue im refering to.sudden flickers?

I second this , had version 10.0.07 , did not interupt anything , still get the black screen, deleted profile and waiting for more info before I try starting /installing windowblinds again
if you can connect your computer to a secondary monitor like a tv i would try that.the black screen happened to me too but the tv picked up the screen.i found if i updated my gfx display and chose the browse choose for me option then on the driver whitch forces a total reload of drivers it will fix it
ps im not having the screen flicker as much as it was.im assuming the update needed time to settle into the windows interface so atm its running smooth again.
i will keep posted if anything arises again though
