Last night while testing Horemvore's AI mod vs all 12 Godlike civs, I was finally, after several bloody battles able to invade the Arcean homeworld. Open taking it, all the 11 other major civs DOW'ed me!
This seems way over the top! Better balance would have only the other Pragmatic races DOW'ing me for invading their friend.
OF COURSE, there should be some warning telling me that if I invade others will DOW.
How do I get around this nuisance of having all non-allies DOW? I presume if I save their HW for last I will still get DOW'ed?
Thx .. neilkaz ..
Rewrite ai scripts. I don't know how to mod so i don't know how to do it but i know it's possible.
I know its a bit off topic, but how did you find my AI Tweaks?
You have surrenders off? If not my mod probably contributed to this since I made the AI less favorable toward surrender.
Well i take the bus to work and back giving nonthing better to do than social network. Actually it was frogboy who originally said this a long time ago.
DOW?
Declaration of War
The AI Scripts are hidden away in dll/bin files.
Yes, turning off surrender is the change like this I do to the game.
Your AI tweaks are an improvement. I was beaten to two planets that I may have been able to colonize vs standard Godlike AI. Next game vs your mod I need to better assess whether I need to pay up to buy faster CS.
AI's also do a better job of defending their planets so I can't steal a few with my very early transports.
Re: AI Tweaks ..nice to see on Godlike around T95 that many AI's are at war with each other.
Re: Venerable...LOL at this silliness. I waited to take the Arcean HW last eliminating them and still everyone else DOW'ed me. This needs to be better balanced and simply have all the remaining Pragmatic races DOW.
Why not just add some visiual indication to the homeworld, which is venerabled? Then the player knows it is off limits (not for culture starbases though), done?
That would work or a pop up warning when I try to invade.
Re: Horemvore AI,.. AI ships seem better also. This is basic June 26 build which was the latest version when I started this game. Conquered Iridium as while Prag they didn't have Venerable. Ended up making peace with Arceans after busting them senseless for a dozen turns and getting some cash in peace deal. Strangely the cash they offered was 991 EXACTLY equal to what I had at the time. So that may be a bug.
I'm approaching the point where I think I can win a Science Victory but will feel better once I take a few more planets to boost overall strength.
very cool, I'll have to give it a spin. It always bugs me how the ai pretty much seems to act as a single coordinated colony organism even if they hate each other. Some of ut mifht be a load reduction thing by lowering the load needed for distant ais, but it's bothersome as a result because those distant ais are woefully equipped when you get there & just fall over with no challenge because I have mine +N ermpire's of stuff & they have just theirs. The fact that a lit of those ais ridiculously outside your even larger travel range that were singing kumbya as a group kept threatening, trying to extort, and declarewar on the player
Only two of the default races "hate" each other, Yor and Iconian. The rest of the races are not setup to have hated factions. I tweaked the "We will Conquer the Galaxy" Modifier so it has more of an impact on the AI. I would also add hated faction or factions to the rest of the default races, but, it make the game very warlike but I am unsure about this atm. It fits well for my Trek mod but I am not sure if the general player would prefer the galaxy be more dependent on war.
A typical example of how this impacts gameplay: My last test game, by turn 220, 2 factions had been killed off, each by a different AI, one AI ended up with 93 planets after their conquest and the other ended up with 88, each faction started with 35-45 planets. One AI had a 6 way war, which it was winning.
I agree that it should made be known to the player if the the invasion of the homeworld would trigger the venerable trait.
But instead of demanding to nerf the trait, why don't you take it as a challenge and find a way to win anyway - especially since the trait isn't that a big deal. If a race is reduced to one planet, they are basically neutralized. You can wait for the planet to culture flip or wait to invade them until you are strong enough to take on everybody.
I'll stress again that this trait needs to be better balanced!! The way to do so is to simply have only the other Pragmatic races DOW.
In my ongoing H/G/13 game (Huge, Godlike, 13 players (all 12 AI's and my custom race) using Horemvore's AI mod (great improvement!!!) the AI's are rather warlike (like one would expect in real life). Thalans also have the rediculous Venerable trait. Yor invaded their HW and was soon swamped by the other AI's as everyone DOW'ed. Later, the Torians also invaded and everyone but the Arceans (far away and likely they didn't meet them since I was beating on Arceans as previously mentioned) DOW'ed and the Torians didn't last long. Now around T130 the powerful Drengins have blundered into attacking the Thalan HW and all remaining major civs are at war.
This is a nuisance for me as 3 great trade routes are gone. More importantly it is a nuisance for the AI which now will soon get clobbered and likely had no clue this would happen.
