So today I used a core sample, got a great tile from it, and immediatly an AI claims it.
I think it would be a good idea to leave a couple of seconds so humans can react.
Or you just use it on tiles you own already. I'd rather not see every game with a CS turn into a constant scanning of the entire map in search for god tiles.
InSync does have a point that you could always just use core samples on tiles you already own or that you could claim a tile before using a core sample, then return the claim if you don't find something you like.
That said, I'm not sure I see the harm in adding a very short protection of 5-10 seconds just to avoid the player having to jump through additional hoops.
Agreed with blues. Adding something like a 10 second defended status seems like it would be beneficial for the core sample. That item is already underused as it is.
Will do - 60 secs.
I just don't like the idea people can (and unavoidably should) scan the entire map until they get the resource they want and it will wait for them without anybody noticing. You can do it right now as well, but at least you need claims to play with in order to secure newly acquired tiles.
I'm loving the synergy between the devs and community that this game enjoys!
We should be careful with the whole 60 second thing. I could totally see core sampling just to defend the tile while your offworld builds.
naturally the defended status should be removed upon the tile being claimed.
